It occurs to me that there is a huge negetive conotation in the name E-Cig(arette). This seems to draw the attention of all those "We know whats best for you" groups who want to ban anything that gives anyone any pleasure.

What we need is a colective name for the class of products we all enjoy so much that does not trigger the knee jerk "my god, he's smoking. Somebody stop him" reaction, but still is more or less accurately descriptive of our favorite devices.

My first thought is something like E-vape-orator

your thoughts?

on a side note: What idiot decided that an orange LED on the end of a battery was a mgood idea?

Flavor. Vapor. Quality. See why Johnson Creek is America's Smoke Juice.

I like to call them Personal Vaporizers now or PV. When explaining it to someone who is not a vaper I will call it an e-cig, but explain that that's just a term used by a lot of the overpriced brands or really just an easy way to explain what it is.

I don't think you can call a tube mod, box mod, or pipe mod an e-cig though. Only the little stick devices that are made to look like a cigarette.

PV is the accepted term amongst vapers, I believe.

I agree, PV (personal vaporizer) appears to be the popular consensus term.

Main reasons (to my understanding):
- An "electronic cigarette" is a type of PV that simulates the size and look of a cigarette.
- "E-Cigs" have the association of major companies such as Blu, Volcano, Smoke Assassin, Bauway, and Janty (to name a few). Some of these companies also offer "e-pipes", "e-cigars", and "passthrus".
- The so-called "homemade" PVs are made by small businesses. These are generally referred to as "mods" as they are typically produced on a small scale. In many cases, they are ordered, the order is processed, and then they are made and shipped. The common "mod" categories thus far are "pipe mods" (id est the Jazz Cartopipe or the Protopype), "tube mods" (id est the Silver Bullet or the Icon), "box mods" (id est the VMU or the Ali'i), and "passthrus" (also called passthroughs or PTs). The eGo/Riva/kGo is the only sort of ambiguous PV on the market that seems to have it's own classification. It's kind of a cigar-style device that has been (in a few cases) been turned into a "mod". Perhaps it's a "cigar mod"?
- Not all vapers use juice with nicotine. The term "e-cig" illustrates a product with nicotine.

My wife calls them my "little toy cigarettes". I find the term insulting and have asked her not to use it. I prefer Personal Vaping Device, or PV. I find her term insulting to a device I love so much.

My ex-girlfriend had a demeaning name for me. I ended up calling her "my little bunny queef". She stopped calling me the name, and it wasn't long thereafter she became my ex-girlfriend.

"My Little Bunny Queef", LOL! That would solve the problem one way or another, nice work!

One of my friend's kids mis-pronounces my name on purpose, so I've been making up new ones for him. Since he's a 10 year old boy, they tend to be girlie names. It's like a game with us. It's hilarious: Since he's 10, and he is like a crack-addict with the FPS games on my computer, he can't cuss me out. Watching him verbally flail around, trying to keep from saying "bad words" is a lot of fun. I like kids that go home somewhere else.

Yeah, I got tired of profanity. I still use it on occasion, but mostly I find more interesting ways to express my frustration or pain. I used to play on XBox Live with a cool kid (whose gamertag I don't remember) that never used profanity. He had me ROTFLMAO every time he would shout "POOPCHUTES" in frustration. Ah, the halcyon days...

I refer to my borderline Tourette's Syndrome as my "military speech impediment". Luckily, it doesn't manifest itself so much when I'm typing.

LOL

You know - if the Dr. gave you a scrip from some liquid that had to be inhaled, (like for asthman or some such) you could load it up and use your PV as the delivery system. (you could, couldn't you?)
So, I think PV is very apropos for a name.
