I finally had some time to sit down with one of my metal lathes to come up with a new End Cap Design. So, I grabbed some brass and started to play. Here's what I've come up with...
These are just some rough photos taken just to show the style of the new cap design. They are beautifully polished and look so nice in person. I will offer them in a Nickel Plated version as well.
I played around with the threading to get it just right... Tightened it down as much as I could, but the base cap releases just wonderfully without the need of any grip or tool. It will never corrode since it is brass against aluminum.
I would love to hear your opinions on this! I'm trying to decide if I should start a pre-order for these types of caps when you order your Saber Touch.
I will still offer the other end cap as well in Brass and Nickel Plated, and also the "Threads Showing" option for the people who prefer the original design.
Of course, you can choose any voltage and color we carry in stock, or you can totally design you own color on our Custom Page.
The cost of material and labor for this new type of cap is substantial, but we will only charge $5 for this style, and the same $5 for Nickel Plating.
If we get a good enough response to this style, I expect the first shipping times to be around 3 weeks from now. And it will be on a limited basis. So that is why I'm asking if you would like me to start pre-orders for this style, to make sure you don't have to wait too long.
Please leave any comments and responses here on this thread, or if you are interested in a pre-order, you can email me at:
Looks nice. Much better. The old type reminds me of the fitting on a garden hose, and the threads aren't very nice. Works great, though, and that's the most important thing!
I agree,
The threads showing add an 'unfinished' look.
and even thought the 'industrial' look of the fitting looks manly
I think many might be 'put off' by the garden hose fitting.
(I should talk, right? )
This new style might be a little more work, but gives it the
I'm finished, cool and smooth.

Yea, it's a lot more work, but I think you are right. While many people do like the original design, I think this will open the door for people who really want the Saber Touch, but wanted a sleeker design. It gives a more stylish feel. Thanks for your opinions! I love getting input on design.
