hey all chris here. i'm fairly new to the forum but i've already talked with many of you who have been extremely friendly and helpful. i started this tread to help anyone who has been solely dependant on thier passthroughs while at home. i currently use the kr808 batterys and a automatic 5volt usb (the kind with just a straight wire w/no battery backup).

there seems to be alot of "how to's", or "do not's" when useing these devices. i received no instructions on how to use this device like i'm sure other people have. i only use mine while i'm on my Playstation. yeah i said Playstation. somtimes i just turn on the console and plug in, get a few tokes then turn it off. i dont own a desktop and i'm scared to use it on my pricey laptop.

i'd like for everyone here, or anyone who reads this to post thier experiences and knowledge and help anyone out with any Q&A they might have. thanks for reading, ~ChRiS

If you're worried about running the PT straight off the computer get a $7-$8 USB hub and run it through that.

Or buy a Kensington Power Pack and then it's portable too.

and how much did your PlayStation cost? PS3?
Can you fix the usb on it yourself?
Pass thoughs (without the battery) draw current, lots of current. $10 usb 2 amp wall adapter only costs $10 to fix

A normal (3.7v) battery/atomizer combination draws about 1.7 amps. Or, 1700ma. Take a look at your wallwart. About 500ma? 750ma? You're taxing the daylights out of it. Try to get a wallwart with a USB output on it that provides at least 1 amp (1000ma or more).

I am not sure about the PS3. It probably delivers ~5 volts, but don't know what the current is. You could mess it up and then be forced to replace the board. Same with a computer. I was using a passthru like yours and every time I took a drag the screen on the monitor would skew to the left! (Um, I am running less than the ideal wattage power supply, but still...)

Head over to Staples, Office Depot, etc and find a USB 1.1 hub (you don't need a 2.0 for an e cig...) and get one that comes with it's own wallwart. They're usually 1 amp, and you can plug in the wallwart, run the cable to your side table and place the hub there, have a seat in the barcalounger and vape away.

Oh. About the laptop...

DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris, I blew up my pc 5v usb ports on the front of my pc(apparently the 2 on the back are parallel with the front since they still work. Be careful if you have to use a pc at work.
Hachi's right the laptops aren't built for Vapabuse.
All of the AC and DC usb plugsin provided by Vaping suppliers are 1000 milliamps or less. I have 2 of each AC+DC plug ins rated at 2000 mA for my pass throughs now. bikes

well the PS3 was around 300 bucks as compared to 800 for the notebook. so i kinda took the lesser of the two. whats weird is that i was puffin heavy one night while i was on the PS, and a lil message popped up on screen, it read (The maximum amount of power that can be supplied to USB devices has been reached. Remove at least one device). the game didnt freeze or the system didnt shut off, it came up, then went away. thats so cool, so i guess it has a fail save built in so as not to burn up the console. no, if it breaks im sure i'll have to send it back to sony.

cool, i'll go to the electronics store and buy a cheapo wall usb with those requirements so i can save my poor lil over priced apple charger. thanks guys

Fail safe? Ha !
and if it fails while playing multiplayer online, YOU LOSE

Be careful with the pass through. I have yet to see one made that had adequate strain relief at the cable ends. I have some that the wires broke (open circuit), and one that the wires shorted out.

One more though: ever get a little shock when you put your tongue to the toaster?
Putting something made with foreign electronics, connected to the AC mains, in your mouth makes my neck hairs stand on end.
