I'm starting this thread to discuss any commercially sold mods in the market. Post your own reviews and links to video reviews. Please state the manufacturers, link and name of mod. In addition list features your like, or don't like, new technologies, and comparisons. Maybe some manufacturers can send us some units for testing.

Here is a link from e suppliers hype section for the Ultimate e cig mod list:

Ok I modded this thread.

I'll start with one I'm really intrigued with it's technology and performance potential.
It's "the Precious" made by Caesar in Romania. Which I've made up my mind to order the new version L which will be avaiable end of July. He makes this in 3 different sizes. The Precious L, M, S. S being the smallest 10440 mod in the world, M being the smallest 14500 mod in the world, and L being the smallest 18650 mod in the world. He's also making the very limited edition U ,only 6 made for the 1st 6 original purchasers of their first model the Precious L. New features on the Precious U will also be implemented in the new L and will eventually be in the M and S versions.
Link to their homepage: http://theprecious.ro/home/

Here are the new features of the U very limited edition:

These features will also be in the new version of the L.

Besides the usual features of the L:

* best ventilation system, directly over the battery vent holes
* touch sensor
* smallest size available
* lowest possible internal resistance
* over-current protection and under-voltage protection

The currently implemented and tested features are:

* undervoltage protection with visual indication, unit shuts down afterwards, not allowing to deplete batteries to a dangerous level
* overcurrent protection, resets itself when shorted atomizer is exchanged, the user just needs to exchange the shorted atty
* general on/off switching
* constant voltage from the first to the last vape
* very easy voltage selection on the Precious itself, with visual confirmation
* variable from 0,0V up to 8,4V in 0,1V steps, without the need of multi-meters, voltmeters or any other equipment
* 3 colored LED for status indication, can be turned on or off for stealth usage from the unit itself
* green led intensity can now be user selected for stealth and normal mode
* menu to select voltage and LED mode operated from the touch switch
* just one touch switch for user input, retaining the beautiful simplicity of its predecessors
* settings are stored in the unit and retained between battery changes
* possibility to use it with or without the automatic juice dispenser
* atomizer activation limited to 15 seconds, allows long drags without hitting the safety limit. 15 seconds is a very safe timing, not limiting the user while still not destroying the atomizer if it is reached by fault
* user will be able to change cutoff timing
* the first 8 seconds are indicated by a green color , from 8 to 12 seconds with a orange color and from 12 to 15 seconds by a red LED color
* timing of different colors can now be user selected
* when the batteries are close to depletion, the first 8 seconds will be lighted orange instead of green to let the user know that batteries will need to be replaced (stevemontuno’s idea and request)
* if the atty activation limit is reached, the Precious switches to OFF state, protecting the user, batteries and atomizer
* if left powered on and unattended, the Precious will shut itself OFF after 30mins of inactivity, for safety reasons
* can now be changed by the user in 1min increments or turned off completely
* it detects and applies the correct settings when powered by 1×18650, 2×18350 or 2xCR123A while the U will also support 2×18500 in selected units

These are all the features that I want and need in a PV. I tried to create the simplest and most user friendly device, incorporating all the possible safety features while keeping it small in size and still allow for versatility.

"If any of you have some ideas, need a feature not implemented or would like to contribute some insights from their own experience please do now, as the final moment is nearing fast." quote by Caesar the designer.

Settings that can be changed on the Precious itself:

* voltage, has menu for volts and tenths of volts
* LED stealth mode: on or off

Settings that can be changed through a computer application by connecting an adapter instead of the atty:

* voltage
* stealth mode
* LED brightness in standby mode (stealth or normal)
* auto shutdown period if left unattended in standby mode (1-250secs), can be turned off
* LED color times when activating the atty (default 0-8secs green, 8-12secs orange, 12-15secs red)
* activation cutoff timer (default 15secs cutoff)

The only other two I was looking at were the Fistpack v3 and the Buzz due to their ability to change voltage.

The Fistpack v3, made in Canada by "Nuck", has a selectable voltage switch but doesn't have the fine tuning capabilities of a potentiometer. It does have a min usb port to make it a pass through and leds that serve as a battery indicator. It being priced at $200 is the most expensive. Sales are suspended till Aug 31st due a summer sabbatical. http://www.fistpacks.com/main.sc

The Buzz is USA made in central CA and uses a potentiometer so it is able to fine tune the voltage to find the sweet spot of any particular flavor juice being used. This one is priced at $115. The sweet spot for one person may be different to another due differing tastes and sensitivity of each own's taste buds. It initially had the 901 threaded cap but now can come with the 510 threaded cap as the customer's option. He sells an adapter with wire leads to alligator clips to a voltmeter in order to dial in the desired voltage. This has several protection circuits including one for unprotected batteries but not recommended. Suggested batteries are 2 x 16340 3.7volt or ICR123a 3.7 volt. http://notcigs.com/

$200?!?!?!?! For a $5 'accessory' and about $4 worth of parts?!?!?! It had better come with a LIFETIME guarantee, even if you smash it with a hammer!!!!

I'm going to order the Precious L. Caesar from Precious will be making one for me out of stainless steel due to my nickel allergy. They may make future models out of titanium and silver. This batteries can last up to 4 days with variable voltage vaping up to 8V! Anyone else getting a commercial mod?

If you are talking about the FistPack there is a whole lot more than $4 in parts. The booster itself is $20, the little switch cap he uses costs as much as most folks switches.

The unit has gone through many revisions with many changes in the exact parts. It has been thoroughly tested by many experienced folks and has quite a cult following. All components have been carefully chosen. Yes it's expensive, but it isn't some mod thrown together with whatever MadVapes happens to have in stock.

Version 2 Precious L is now water proof and made of stainless steel. The older version was nickel plated brass but after I brought up my nickel allergy Caesar made the change to ss. I can't wait to get this awesome PV. Variable voltage up to 8V adjustable via downloadable software connected via cable from the atty connector to a usb port on a pc, so no need for a multimeter. Takes 2 18650 batteries. Free shipping from Romania!

i have to wear nickle-free jewlery because nickle makes my skin itchy, so one of my big concerns is the nickle atty and bridge.
how does it effect your vape? Is there an alternative to the nickle based atty?

i have a watch with a stainless steel band but it has nickle pins holding the links together, if i sweat my arm breaks out in welts because the sweat washes the nickle onto my wrist. i now only wear it in winter.

taking that into account i was wondering if the nickle in the vapour poses any threat (i am also an asthmatic)

if you could please share your experiance and findings it will help save many pain staking hours of research and doubt in this fantastic gadget

HI! GP welcome to the neighborhood.
Try this: e-saveuke.com there are links for most of the manufacturers if you have questions.( I'd post a link to the list;but as one of the girls around here says , I'm a thumbless marsupial incapable of functioning in the modern world). To prove her point the link is in post #1 above.
Actually I have some useful capabilities, but my wife restricts to whom they may be applied.
Enjoy

Welcome GP!

Actually, I agree, I will not spend $200 on a mod, unless it's like the Helix or something else from Cisco. Otherwise, it's too much of a gamble in my mind. My VMU only cost $90, and I have variable voltage. Yeah, it's a box mod, but it's Badass with a capital "B"!

Interesting. Most of the heating element are Nichrome, or nickle-chromium. They use this in a lot of things because the thin wire is well suited for heating elements.
