hey gang,

im a month into vaping and dont see myself going back im familiar with basic electronics and metalworking. after countless hours on modding sites and forums i think ive found my holy grail quest and its when i found the hybrid genesis mod. ive been working on my own design. today and have something very solid made from 1" o.d. aluminum tube for the batt body (3/4" i.d.) 1" solid bar to machine the caps for the batt body and tank caps. the only questions i have are:

1. what connectors, batteries, and wiring setup would be the best fit for this adventure?

2. i noticed these attys are very popular to mod but never mass produced as far as i can tell. is there a reason for it?

thanks for any help!

eta: when im all done this project (oh yes i will finish) ill release lots of pics, the wireing diagrams and the cad drawings for the machine work so you can make your own! or you could pay me an unholy amount of money to make another for you

im gonna make these easy to fill without a syringe and easy to find, fix and replace parts and all made in america so no translating forums (that was a pain in the @$$)

Yeah, I got some stuff I'm working on too. I got some 18650 batteries with 2800mah. Everyone says to use the 510 threads because most mods are built aroung the 510, but with adapters for everything, not sure how much that matters. One of my PigCigs got smashed on the end, and I was thinking of using the switch end out of it, but then am thinking about a totally mechanical device, no wires, no lights, just the batts and a mechanical switch. Thing is, once the batteries get too big, the thing doesn't balance well and becomes awkward. I like the PigCig 650 and 900's because they are easy to hold, but also don't wanna have to spend 30 bucks every time I need a new battery. Take a look at several mods. Hirez really likes his NoEgo from Jazzcartopipes. They have a 14500 model for 25 bucks and an 18650 coming. You have to put your own batteries in them, but the batteries are only 5-8 bucks a pop. Some people figure that if a battery lasts, say if an Ego lasts 6 months, they don't mind paying 20 bucks for another one. It is fun to play with mods, tho.

With a 3/4" ID an 18650 will fit quite nicely. It will make for a BIG mod, but I think 4 days vaping time* is worthwhile...

*YMMV. I find using an 18650 with an eGo through the course of a day yields 4 days per charge for the 18650, and 2 days for the eGo.

i could use a few suggestions on wiring im looking to make this setup variable voltage from 6v to maybe 3v it would really save me alot of time and trial and error if anyone has some laid out already i could borrow. im beter at metalworking than creating new wiring plans. lemme know what you've got.

I have a 650 mah pigcig with a ce2 and that will last me a day and a half dont get me wrong i love my pigcig but this project is just to make something cool with a tank. i saw ce2 tank mods but found them lacking as far durability and map tanks are still ce2s that wear out so i HAD to do something i liked. plus i havent had an exuse to use the lathe in a while or cad other than when im at work.

ok i think i going to go with 2x 18500 3.7v - 1600 mah they will make the tube the same legnth as a 2x AA flashlight ill see how that will work with my early board setup. ....all those times in school i said "wth do i need ohms law for" now i finally need it. only took 12 years

the reason for the high voltage is i want to make it adjustable so i can yse the batt stick for attys other than the tank mod im makeing at the same time. i think using a 510 connection as a base gives me a wider range as far as carts and attys 510 seems to be the honda civic of vaping for the time being.

well..I dont think the genesis atty really worked out wonderfully...it was kinda sketchy
another guy did a lot of playing around with the SS wicks with coils and the wicks kinda dissolved for lack of a better word at the coil contact locations...based on that Id say the whole idea needs a bunch more study...dont think I want to be vaping SS fumes...

Well with that in mind I can modify my design to accept a ce2 just as easily but I want to develop an improvement to the current design as far as the wick gumming or burning away maybe toy around with different materials

well the stainless melting is no different than the wicks on ce2's burning away or the coils for that matter im gonna see if i cant make some sort of heat siphon wick :d just dreamt up the idea basically a coil wrapped around a small tube would heat that with wicking material inside (so it wouldnt leak. simmilar to the genesis but a stronger wick less succeptable to burning away. heating the tube would also draw the juice up the wick more effeciently than just wicking alone prebenting dry burns. im going back to sketching let me know if this sounds good so far. i want opinions people!
