You bring up a concern I have had right from the start: what is IN these things, and is there something that might actually be worse than tobacco? Remember where these are made...lead paint in toys... | Quote:

Get VG if you still react.
And go with dripping or cartomizers, not cheap e-cig carts!
Wicking- I'm not sure of.

And one type made my neck swell up!
That was for 510 carts; since then I have gone to Cartomizers...see the "The atty killer is on the loose" thread for the reason why....

| Interesting thread. A shame that some of it is clouded from the FDA antifreeze thing.
I've only been vaping for a month now but I've off and on had the swollen lymph glands just like the OP. Same past history with the swelling/aching as well .. used to be from an oncoming cold (I always thought). I was just noticing it starting to come back last night.
Now, to throw my light on this, just yesterday it flared up again and I've been using a clearomizer. So for me although I've had some nasty filled cartomizers in the past, I can't blame the filler this time or junk in a new carto because I'd used the current one for a few days now with no issues.
In the 4 short weeks I've been vaping I've tried 4 different pre-mixed juices and about 10-15 ml of DIY that I mixed to 70/30. Most of the juice I've used has been through clearomizers but some through cartomizers, so I think I'll try to pay closer attention in an effort to figure this out, at least for me. Since I've only had it a couple of times, right now I'm inclined to think it's something in the RY4 I started using again yesterday. Not going to say the name because I still don't know if it really is the cause, and if it is it could be either the PG itself, just some flavor ingredient, or ??
I know this doesn't help us 'throat swellers' much, other than to maybe rule out cartos & fillers, and everybody is different as to reactions. I'll try to narrow my issue down & repost here if I can figure it out.
Oh, and like I said before I've had the throat gland swelling before vaping so while the Anaphylactic shock warning is a good thing to mention (and I'll pay attention to it), I think it's a bit over the top in my case anyway. |

| Hey JD...good to see another Owe Malley land member..
Id try moving to the highest VG % you can in DIY first and see what effect that has..You can go pure VG and thin with distilled water like at 5% and see how that works for you. Ive heard of PG intolerance but not VG at least yet anyway...Its possible it could be a flavoring to but those percentages as so much less that I would start with the elimination of PG first as the more likely culprit..keep us posted with you progress..

| Thanx for the well wishes, all. So yesterday I quit the RY4 (it only said PG on the web site, but I'm guessing it has some VG) and went to a premixed 50/50 that's supposed to be US made. The place I got all of these from has 'Premium' US made juices and the 'others' that I'm guessing are not US juices for whatever that's worth. All of my other 3 juices including the RY4 are 'others' and the 4 total premixed are all various tobacco flavors. After 45 years maybe I'm finally allergic to tobacco .
Anyway, so far on the 50/50 my throat glands have stopped being tender and have gotten a bit smaller so I'm still thinking it might be something in the RY4. I've got some 48mg plain PG base and some plain VG so I can go heavy on the VG but I really like around a 24 to 30 nic content so I might need to order some VG only base. We'll see.. I'm certainly not giving up vaping. I smoked for 45 years and stopped within 15 min of my first vape, so right now you'll have to pry the nicotine from my "cold, dead hands"! Quote:

Did you experience the swollen gland issue before you started vaping?

Did you experience the swollen gland issue before you started vaping? | Sorry for the delayed reply. I've always lived in the Silver Spring area. Southern MD is nice. Used to grow some of the best tobacco in the US along with VA., until an ex-governor spent our 'share' of the tobacco compensation fund to pay the growers to stop growing. Only a handful of smaller farmers are still growing now, but at least some didn't give in.
Yes, I would get the swollen glands and sore throat just like the op before a cold or allergy flare up. Which as it turns out is exactly what I think just happened.
I stopped the RY4 and went to a 50/50, but also noticed that I was getting some nasal congestion. It all went away in a few days, and I went back to the RY4 and some other 70PG/30VG mixes, all with no return of the throat issues.
Could still be something from a carto since I'm currently using clearomizers 100%, but I think it was just a normal (for me) bug or something. I'm happy since I like the way thinner 70/30 feeds, but next time I buy nic base I just might get a stronger nic content in a 50/50 mix to give me some mix-down flexibility. |

Especially the frequency that you have it. If it were me, I'd be asking my Dr to check me out just for my peace of mind.
