Yea, one of those things. LoL

Seriously, a good who friend is a paraplegic finally started vaping, but is currently back on analogs because he was getting too much fluid buildup in his lungs and can't cough it up like the rest of us as he is paralyzed from the mid chest area down.

Now, he started low on the nic at 8mg and is using the same 40VG/60PG blend most seem to use including me. For equipment he just has a 650mah Ego with a CE5 starter kit. And he was doing ok for the first 4 or 5 days

Any help or ideas on what to try next would be greatly appreciated. And no, he isn't going to another quack doctor.

I am guessing that trying different percentages of PG vs VG in the juice may help, VG is thicker and I think less VG would maybe help?? Just putting that out there.

I'm sorry to hear that. I honestly don't know.. I've been vaping now since Oct 2010 and don't have that fluid build up, not unless I'm getting a sinus infection or cold, something along those lines. However, when I first stopped smoking, I did cough up a bunch of yucky stuff for a few days. I did that on other attempts to stop smoking as well that didn't include vaping. Might have something to do with clearing out the lungs from all those years of smoking, I'm not sure. The concentration of VG and PG may make a difference. Hope he can get it worked out. I'm sure others will be along soon to offer some good advice.

I'm not sure what vaping would have to do with a fluid build up in his lungs.

Hi! My name is Kali, and I'll be your nurse this evening.

Does he feel a heaviness in his chest when he vapes?
If he can cough any of it up, is it fluffy or more watery? What is the color, consistency, and amount? Is it actually fluid, or is it mucous?
Is he allergic to anything? Pollen, cat dander, grass, mold, etc...
Is he using premade juice and what kind? Does it have water in it?
What flavor is he using and in what percentage?

Well on a few of my "cold turkey" quit attempts about day three my lungs started the old "clear out" process. Coughing got so bad that I woul resmoke a bit to dry lungh and quit coughing. Uuuugh!

Now when i started vaping, i too coughed alott at first getting used to the vapor.

Also when I started vapeing I trasitioned started %30 vape 60% smoke then mooved on from there. True I still have one or two minicigars/day.

Now most do not like higher PG levels bue to the dryness of it. Me I vape 75 to 80% PG juice and have experienced "cotton mouth" almost daily.

So my suggestion

1 do NOT give up on vaping
2 try a smoke→vape transistion, drastic flipps can cause much havoc
3 try higher % PG for a dryer vape.

Hope this helps,
Good luck.

Grass allergy, never thought of that. VG made from vegitation and all might be a factor.

I notice I get a lot of collection in my throat the higher I go on VG, but I have skin problems with PG. Try using a PG based juice and see what happens. Hopefully your friend won't also have a skin reaction to PG.

Thanks guys, I will mix him up some 75/25 and see how he does with that. I too coughed up a lot of "stuff" when I started, in fact my very first vape attempt was with a full flavor Fin and I thought I was going to die from coughing. So perhaps in his case a drier vape will be the answer. He doesn't want to quit vaping so it's just a matter of finding what might work for him with his condition.

And Kali
I will have to get some of those answers from him, I dunno and he isn't a forum freak like us.
