| Actually a Rocket 3.9 volt Passes Though Box Mod.
The 26650 seems a little much for some folks, as does the parallel 18650, so I decided to try something a little more practical.
I've found that the 420ma eGo charger can keep up with my vaping habits, continuously, keeping the battery topped off and hitting about 3.8 to 3.9 volts (LOADED). Like the first hit from a freshly charged 3.7 volt mod, each and every time. The USB cable supplies only charging current (500ma or less), not vaping current (about 2.4 amps, 9.4 watts with a DC) so it should be safe for computer USB jacks. Rather than build the charger into the mod, I'll keep it on the outside.
So when the next parts order is delivered I'm going to make another Box Mod (not too terribly different than the others) with the following features:
Aluminum Box,
18650 unprotected NOT-Chinese 2600mah Li-ion cell,
6 Amp protection circuit board,
5 Amp switch,
mini voltmeter instead of LED,
bottom 510 jack for eGo USB charger,
eGo compatible 510 connector.
eGo charger, and 2 foot USB cable (optional 20 foot cable ).
This can be used as a 3.7 volt pass through, or remove the charger for a 'charge-n-go' 18650 box mod. Since everyone is learning all about ohms law, this should be easy to duplicate.
Rocky

First Photo: Some of the parts
Second Photo: Parts in place, wiring done,
Third Photo: UNLOADED VOLTAGE,
Fourth Photo: LOADED VOLTAGE WITH A 2.8 OHM CE2
Photo 5 shows wiring.
Meter is wired directly to the eGo connector. All current carrying wires are 18 ga.
SPST switch turns on atty/carto, and meter. Charge connector is wired direct to cell positive.
Gotta pour some epoxy and drill some vents now Schematic in my profile album, and loaded voltage from a 1.6 ohm DC is in post 35.
The epoxy set up enough to use now. I'll go through the step by step on the wiring I did.
First I pushed out the center pin on the eGo connector and the 510 Battery connector and soldered wires in them. Heavy wire for the Ego end, smaller wire for the charge end. I attached two small wires to the meter (neg, and 1-S pins, cut off the other pins). After making all the holes and cuts in the aluminum I pressed in the connectors, mounted the switch, and set the meter in place with a little super glue.
I soldered a heavy wire to the eGo shell, and a small wire to the 510 shell.
Positive wiring: Reinstalled the insulators in both connectors and pushed the center pins into place, then bent the wire from the eGo connector center pin to loop into the lower contact of the switch and soldered in place. I also attached the positive lead from the meter to the heavy wire close to the eGo center pin.. Another heavy wire runs from the upper switch contact to the battery positive tab. I attached the small wire from the 510 charge connector center pin to the upper switch contact also. The Batt positive strip from the control board also goes to the battery positive tab. When the switch is not pressed (Open) the meter is off, the atty/carto is off, but the charge connector is still connected to the battery positive. When the switch is pressed (Closed) the current flows from the Battery positive, through the switch to the eGo connector center pin. The meter picks up the positive voltage at the center pin. The charger is still connected and helps with loaded voltage a little also.
Negative wiring: The Battery negative goes to the control board (B-), through the dual back to back Mosfets, and to the P- contact on the board. A heavy wire is soldered here and goes to the eGo connector shell. Both the meter negative and the 510 charge shell are connected to eGo shell through small wires.
Epoxy was used to stabilize the parts and insulate bare contact points. A 1/4 inch hole was also drilled in the bottom next to the charge connector.

RY, an 18650 isn't 'wireless' enough?

| Ya know, something that looks like that could really get you in trouble with TSA and the Air Marshals...

| Couldn't this be done with a battery that already has a protection circuit? (Of course, a wiring diagram would answer that... )

| I'll post a detailed schematic later, it's almost family dinner time. DaBoy left this morning so no fun with the jammer. There would be several acceptable variations to the design, all complying with 'The Law' that would work just as well.
I picked the parts I picked because:
Aluminum box be stronger than a plastic box.
A tabbed battery doesn't need a battery holder.
I have 100s of feet of 18 ga. wire.
I have several of the protection circuit boards.
I have several of the switches.
The eGo connector is pretty tough and fits eGo stuff.
The chargers are cheap (from China) and are easier to replace on the outsde.
The 510 charge connector allows charging with about anything that can charge a 510.
I could make this in my spare time in less than a day (epoxy in cure now).
A good 18650, continuously topped off, hits pretty good.
Schematic is in my profile album, here: http://www.vapeatron.com/members/rocketman-272/albums/

Must have been all that flapping of my arms that attracted it... | Well flap those arms some more then because it is still too hot and humid here to step outside. We are in the 90s but it feels well over 100 and the humidity just makes it worse. So glad for the invention of AC. |

Must have been all that flapping of my arms that attracted it... | It got down to the 80's today, and we had our first rain in a month. A welcome relief after the 112 degree days we had earlier this week.

| It's been in the high 90s here, and I've been painting the house, making and putting up 5432 shutters on all the windows (instead of plywood for hurricane season). Do a little each day, whew, just too hot. Today, overcast and high 80's, but I'll wait until the sun is out again to go back up on the ladder, and just enjoy the first day without you know who (I'm a mean step dad).
Steam: I just ordered a computer for the step daughter. Hers won't go through all the threads to load up and even if it did, she'll be going back to school in a few weeks, and I just wouldn't trust it anymore. She wanted something small, and finally convinced her that most 'tablet sized' ones don't have a DVD burner
This is what I ordered:
Dell-Inspiron Laptop / Intel® Core™ i3 Processor / 14" Display / 4GB Memory-Tomato Red-I14R-1296TMR.
What do you think?
and to drift "off topic" again, I put up a wiring description in post 2.

The Insprions are good I believe. I had one for about 3 years until someone left it under an open glass of water for the cat to knock over on. Couldn't get it going after that. |

As far as going out flapping my arms, it ain't going to do any good...it's just as hot and humid here, and the cops have a "watch order" on me after the last time...
