So I just got my Prodigy V1 personal vaporizer in the mail from Puresmoker.com. It's all black with a baked-on finish and silver ends with construction very similar to a mag-light. The side reads "Prodigy" in cursive writing similar to the "Fender" logo on "Fender" guitar amplifiers. The switch is a manual push-button switch; so no more trying to suck and suck to get good vapor from the unit.

The batteries that it comes with are CR123a rechargeable photo batteries rated at 3V a piece. The unit takes 2 batteries in series to make just around 6V to the atomizer. You get 2 sets of 2 to make a total of 4 batteries in the kit. It only took me about an hour and a half to charge them for the first time.

The personal vaporizer has very sturdy construction and reminds me of those very small portable flashlights that some people like to carry around. The particular unit that I got fits with the DSE-901 atomizers, but you can get additional attachments for many of the other popular atomizer models.

The vapor is AMAZING! This thing totally rocks with vapor! The flavor and throat-hit are da bomb! The first time I used this was with Totally Wicked e-liquid "minty-chocolate" flavor at 36Mg strength. I tried my 24Mg strength with this as well and didn't even notice a difference. The throat-hit was just as strong!

I only have a couple of concerns that I haven't had the chance to deal with just yet. How to carry this thing in the pants pocket without setting it off. The only way that I could think of would be to empty the batteries from the unit and put them in their own separate bag so that they don't short out with keys. Otherwise I could see myself accidentally pressing the button while the thing is in my pocket.

The other concern would be how to carry this thing onto an airplane. When I took my basic - e-cig and had it in my suit case - they saw it on the X-ray and asked me to take it out for further inspection. Something tells me that this would probably freak them out a little more - which might be kind of a bumber since I'm going back to NH to visit my dad on a trip. I'm feeling a little apprehensive to bring this with me even in a laptop case. Don't know... maybe if I have the atomizer in a separate in an e-cig case this might work... hrm...

I also got the pass-through version of the Prodigy at the same time. This unit is very similar, but just a little smaller. The adapter is not the same due to its size - but I had all of the same experiences with this unit as well. Although - It did cause my netbook to shut down briefly due to the current draw. My suggestion would be to use one of those transformers that have USB plug on the end and just use that.

Good Job Puresmoker! I LOVE this unit!

Great review. I made a flashlight mod for myself but it has no where near the quality of construction or finish of the Prodigy (from visual review only). I didn't know they were using 2 CR123s in series, 3 volts from one cell didn't seem like enough. Using the pretty much generic 901 atomizer is a plus.
I took my flashlight Mod on vacation to DC. I kept it with my camera equipment, seems to be "context relevant" when TSA sees it with the xray. Being with other "techy" items helped, rather than rolling it up in the socks like you are hiding it. Consider carrying around your neck (after passing the check point of course). Can be kept out of sight if you want but easy to access. Unless of course carrying a Prodigy in your pants helps your self confidence
Thanks for the info,
Rocket

phreique: don't get in the habit of referring to your Prodigy as "da bomb" if you plan to travel back by air.

Remember (THEY are watching us, I just feel it)

Great review.

I was curious about the 'Prodigy V1' and was contemplating purchasing one.

I was under the impression that the battery button was 'recessed' thus making it harder to activate while it sits in your pants pocket.

I've been using a screwdriver for quite sometime now and I have had to replace the button-switch once.

The only complaint that I have about the screwdriver was that it was too easy to activate the atomizer while the unit sits in your pants pocket... but, It sounds like the 'Prodigy V1' poses the same problem as the screwdriver.
