| Here's another little tip for the DIYers out there. Recently I was asked on a different Forum: Hey Dave,
I'm curious why you use both Ethyl Maltol and Agave Nectar (in your recipes)? And here is my reply: Although most people think of ethyl maltol as a sweetener,
there are in fact, other taste modifications that using EM brings to the mixture.
One you hardly see mentioned, (unless you are reading some of my posts!)
is that EM tends to 'blur' or mute flavors to a degree.
This effect is increased as the amount of EM is increased.
One of the most consistent comments that are made
about JuiceBlaster ejuices is that they are "smooth".
Using just the right amount of EM, mixed up in just the right dilution level,
is one of the things that helps achieve this taste effect.
The other side effect of using both is like taking a common pain medication.
It's a little known fact that although most people tend to either prefer acetaminophen or ibuprofen,
they both have their strengths and weaknesses. And those trend to opposite ends of the pain spectrum.
A simple way to get the best of both, is to take a half dose of each!
The same holds true for using both EM and agave nectar in an ejuice.
You literally get a heterodyne effect when using both,
since each brings their own strong suit to the table.
In tandem, IMHO, they are best possible combination,
and you can use much less sweetener that you would using either of them alone.
1 drop of each, in a full 10ml of liquid, hardly seems like very much,
particularly when you see DIY recipes using 5-10 times that much added sweetener,
but customer feedback has proven over and over again that when used together,
it is in reality, just the right amount for a starting baseline.
It's easy to add more, based on personal preference.
Adding less, after you have already added way to much.... that's a bit more troublesome!
