| it would seem Joshua Harjo (Harjo) Merchant Now Financial, Cardservice International may not be what it seems
when you find a Merchant credit card service Google them and put the word scam after the search words

I've been a lurker here for months, reading up on the Auctiva Commerce changes, issues, tutorials, etc. and have been waiting for a few bugs to get worked out before I jump in the water with the rest of you. I've also been reading up on the credit card/merchant account gateway issues and updates, authorize.net, etc. Recently I've read more and more about Joshua Harjo and how some have had discussions with him and he seems knowledgable and upfront, and some have even gone with his company. Well, I did a bit of research online, just basic Yahoo searches, less than 5 minutes total, and what I've found doesn't look too promising, to say the least.
A search on Yahoo for "Merchant Now Financial", the second result down, from manta.com (who give compay directory listings, place of business, sic. code #, etc.) says this business just started last year, August 2008, there is one employee at this location, and they did $74,000 (?!?) in sales last year. Looking up the location on Google street maps brings up a small, probably 300sq. foot office space. His sic code #8742 has him listed as a "Management Consulting Service".
Doesn't this seem strange to anyone here? It did to me. Tell me if I'm wrong, but thats not even the proper sic code for his business type.
Doing a bit more research, I searched just "Joshua Harjo" by itself on Yahoo, and thats when it got ugly really quick. The very first result is Rip Off Report.com, and if you read it, you will see a harrowing report of Joshua Harjo, and a company he ran 10 miles away in Scottsdale named "Cardservice International". You should all read what the poster says about Joshua and what he did to his small internet company. It was first posted in 2005, and updated in 2007. It seems he's gotten the FBI and the I.F.C.C. involved, among other things. It seems Joshua left that company at the end of 2007 and opened up Merchant Now in 2008.
Now, if that wasn't enough, I did a search for the words "cardservice international scam", to see what his prior company had on record, and wow. It's a never ending list of people who've been ripped off by this company. FBI involved cases, lawsuits filed in various states and counties.
All I can say is wow.
I was literally one email away from contacting Joshua myself.
Now, I'm sure, as most have said here, that he is a smoothe talker, and he obviously knows what he's doing seeing his history in that industry, and has the lingo to sell you on his service, BUT, is this a guy who you would trust with your personal credit account info, let alone the account/credit card details of every customer you do business with?
I know it's a hell of a first post, but jeez...this is a but ugly.

| Me, no way!! but i am looking for a merchant gateway. In my search i did find a lot of post about that guy. Thats cool you are in maryland too, did you go to Vapefest yesterday? |

| E-Cig family, we would like to advise you that our company has recently received an increased amount of calls regarding Go-Daddy shopping carts only seeming to be compatible with Authorize.net <http://Authorize.net> gateways for standard merchant processing. Authorize.net <http://Authorize.net> explicitly states they do not accept E-cig or E-liquid business transactions. They have and will continue to terminate gateway accounts linked to the sale of these products. Although this is not breaking news as many of you have already heard or read about this on one of our previous posts or through several other posts made on this as well as other electronic cigarette forums, many people are still developing sites and using shopping carts that are not compatible with these products. Please save yourself the time & headache when building your e-commerce website and/or choosing your shopping cart by researching this area to avoid further time delays or web development costs. In order to provide some point of reference, we have heard good things about the Magento shopping cart, however, we are not a website company, only a merchant service provider, and would defer this to someone with more relevant expertise. Hopefully, one of those people will read this post and will chime in to provide further clarity on this subject and save some time, effort, and money for you guys.

| We use a 3rd party gateway company which is eProcessingNetwork.com. I don't know if they have a list of compatible shopping carts on their website but if you email me at jharjo@merchant-now.com I can attach the list and email it over to you. They pretty much seem to work everything so far as I've seen. We've been using them for almost 3 years since Authorize.net doesn't seem to want e-cig business. We still use them occasionally but we try to avoid them as often as we can.
