| Without getting too wordy (as in words that are more than 3 syllables) How much power is required for an atty?
I'm thinkin up ways to mod, but dont know the actual power requirements, and what i've seen so far is just...far too confusing. |

| Just girls for me.
Cullan watcha got? Just trying to have a frame of reference for you.
i.e. a standard battery is about 150-180 mAh (You'll see mAh a lot when battery shopping) which tells you so many 1/1000 ths of an amp(mA)/for 1 hour. A 510 batt will go cold in 1-2 hours of use. All of this is subjective based on your use . If you are the
kind of horse that goes to the pond to get a drink and doesn't lift his head until the fish are flopping around in the mud all bets are off.
An ego batt will be at least 650mAh, I have got several mods and they range from 900-2500 mAh. Your intent is critical in determining how much power you need. Variables might be voltage, some people can't be satisfied powering their vaporizer at the 3.7v and have to have 5,6 or seven volts. I can vape very happily at 3.7 and an ego type if I used 1 only it would last about 5-6 hours.
Watcha got ,watcha wanna do? Those are the questions to answer your question.

| Short answer (as requested) just enough to get it hot enough.
Loaded question....
Like Bikes said you need to frame the question better to get the right answer or at least what your trying to do.

| Its hard to answer this so short. Do I have to pose this question to try to do so..
Are you looking for a days worth of power or just enough for a single puff.
Welcome to the nut house. |

Welcome to the nut house. | Cullan's an interesting case- he's not vaping yet (apart from stealing mine now and then,) but plans to. He's itching to mod, and I'm pretty sure he's not going to be happy buying a pv- he wants to build his own first.
That said, he lacks the perspective yet on his objective. More power? More flavor? More steam? Or just visual awesomeness? (The last being a moral imperative. )

| Actually, i'm more looking into conventional batteries vs. batts you guys buy from the sites.
I know the power i can get from a, say, 9v. Just dont know how much power is required to run an atomizer.
I've read the 'cheap all day sucker' thread. Just trying to get around having to get an online Li-Ion, and mod with store-brand recharges. Really, just trying to get away from the Li-Ion Charge Phenomenon (it has an actual name, just cant remember it at the moment.
I havent seen the sites where she gets the attys so i dont know what the mAh is. will have to investigate that.

| most atomisers are set up to run at 3.7 or 3.2 volts. Usually they use lesser ohm or "LR" attys to generate more heat with the same voltage by increasing current with lower resistance. You can however build your own attys by increase or decreasing nichrome wire lengths and gauges wrapped in coils however by using LR attys you will need larger mah batteries.
Check out ecig mods over at ecf forum or google search for more info.

| Cullan,ECF is E-cigarette-forum.com in the modders forum look up "the puck", it uses NiMH batteries you can get at walgreens, Walmart, home depot etc. Parts from Radio Shack only odd part is the ecig connector. if you want to go that way I'll send you a connector. LMK bikes

I made my "Atty Smasher" using a ti Plug In Power Module (sorry for those that have heard it 10,329 times now...) set with a resistor for 4.2V (same as a fresh charged battery) that delivers 6.3W. I have found this is a good trade off between getting whopping vapor but burnt taste. 5V was stupendous on vapor production but made the juice taste like cal*.
TI also makes an interesting PIPM that boosts 3.7V to 5V, the PTH04050...? Haven't made a mod with one yet.
(*Anyone who knows where my sig quote came from should know what "cal" is...)
