I am curious about what people prefer to vape, is there any relationship between the juices you vape now and the tobacco cigarettes you used to smoke???...

  1. PG or VG? Why?
  2. What nicotine level do you prefer? (24mg, 18mg, etc)
  3. Brand you used to smoke before becoming a vaper.

I used to smoke 1 pack a day of Marlboro Lights. Right now I am hooked with 18mg PG e-liquids (I feel like they have more flavor than VG and produce enough vapor to get an strong hit) but I do not use the Marlb flavor that much anymore... I rather vape the sweet fruity flavors (pineapple and mango are awesome!). I guess that with tobacco cigarettes you do not have many options...

What about you?!

I generally vape at 10-12 mg. Most of my juices are ~50/50 pg/vg.
I usually just buy 24mg and dilute with a 70vg/20pg and10PGA mixer fluid.
2 tobacco flavors, 2 menthol/tobacco flavors and just about any coffee based flavor.
I used to smoke Native brand lights about 1-1.5 pks a day.
Smoke free since 12/08/09.

I'm using 12 and 16mg Nic, I have settled on a 20%vg/80%pg mix for my best balance of flavor and throat hit, I smoked Marlboro Reds for 30 years, smoked my last one a month ago.

Is seems that 80% 20% is the way to go... do you mix the liquids or you just buy them like that...??? Does VG has a better throat hit than PG or it is the way around? Kind of confused here, hehe

HiRezL:
Contratz for the 1st month without the stinky cigarettes!

VG= Better Vapor Production, Thicker Liquid

PG= More Flavor, More Throat Hit and less vapor.

My Preferred Mix is 70% PG 30% VG. And yes you can buy them made like that.

Hope this helps you out.

Most sites let you specify your pg/vg mix . . . and I don't understand the ones that won't.

70-80/PG = 20-30/VG.

Prefer some kick with complex tobacco flavors....type of vape. American made juice vendors only.

Analogs were Marb Red and variants.

I like VG because it's natural and food grade is easily obtainable. PG is anti-freeze and laxative
I mix something like 85VG/15PG

Nicotine...about 40mG. Keeps me from reaching for the ciggies as often...

Pack a day Camel Wides smoker...

For me, I prefer the following setup:

90%:10% (PG:VG)
6-12mg/ml

I used to buy Lucky Strikes. Then I went to RYOs and used Peter Stokkebye's Amsterdam Shag tobacco. Now, it's 100% vapor for me!

Well A Lot has been said about PG being in antifreeze and other very harmful things.

Let me State this, PG is in toothpastes Mouthwashes, And more injection drugs in the hospitals than you can possibly imagine, the ting that PG does which is why they use it as a flavor carrier is it suspends pretty much anything placed in it that is what makes it perfect for injected medicines. The molecules bond to the PG and it carries them where they need to go, other uses that are taken into the human body are food colorings, cake frosting's and a whole slew of other things that we use or eat every single day. There is Industrial Grade PG, (Antifreeze type), and there is Food Grade PG, (Everyting we eat that contains PG).

LOL Just a few useless tidbits from a Vapa-Saurus-Rex

Yeah, I know. But a company that advertises smoking everywhere had their juice tested by the FDA and it contained by products only found in industrial grades...

WHOA!! See now that is not good, that supplier should be shut down quick. I mean that is just criminal to use something other than what has been approved by the FDA as a food additive and PG has been approved by the FDA as a food additive.

PG- VG seems to gum things up for me.
16 - considering dropping to 0 and just enjoying the flavors.
I smoked SkyDancers.

Some people think that the FDA is some kind of God but it is not. There are many things that we eat very often and are not FDA approved... like BACON... and TOOTH PASTE.

Not really. If I'm driving, I'm vaping.

But, then I can go two hours or more if I have to without anything.

+1, I do straight VG most of the time, because I have a reaction to PG if I vape more than around 25% or so. My solution is to avoid it as much as is reasonable. The reason I started mixing my own juice is because so many vendors don't offer anything I need.

36 - 48 mg., my favorite flavors come and go. I also like un-flavored. I vape with a big-battery mod @ 6 Volts. I used to smoke 3 packs of Kool Filter Kings per day.

I hear this a lot, let's clear up a misconception. PG in ejuice is propylene glycol, a safe food additive that is in lots and lots of products at your local supermarket.

PG in antifreeze is polyethylene glycol . . . it's not the same chemical. And even the PG in antifreeze has been put there to make it safe for animals to drink, because it used to be made with ethylene glycol that poisoned dogs and cats who would drink it if it was spilled, as it smells sweet.

This whole argument reminds me of my Mom, who called me panicked because her Dr. proscribed a medicine containing Potassium Sulfate for her, she was sure it was going to kill her because she has an allergy to sulfa drugs. I had to actually show her pictures of the chemical structure of sulfate and sulfa (sulfanamide) before she would accept they were completely different.

Just because something has a similar name does not make it the same thing. The stars in Hollywood are not composed of fusing hydrogen.

The FDA report found DEG in SE's samples...Not Good.

I actually posted this once, a long time ago, when I first joined here:

Propylene Glycol

A cosmetic form of mineral oil found in automatic brake and hydraulic fluid and industrial antifreeze. In the skin and hair, propylene glycol works as a humescent, which causes retention of moisture content of skin or cosmetic products by preventing the escape of moisture or water. The Material Safety Data Sheet warns users to avoid skin contact with propylene glycol as this strong skin irritant can cause liver abnormalities and kidney damage.

I notice when I vape PG solely, my nose looks like I've been on a month-long bender...

Diethylene Glycol is antifreeze, and is poisonous, as bad or worse than ethylene glycol. Who is SE?

These sites explain it in far greater detail than I ever could, with pictures:
Polyethylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ethylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Diethylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Propylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - this is the one we use, and it's safe.
