Although more money, vzw, because of coverage is still my choice. No dropped calls, except when others are on ATT. And the drops are always theirs. Only down side is the foreign coverage. When in England last summer I used a laptop and a MagicJack. No charge and quality was spectacular. Besides, I was on vacation, so the phone should not have been used anyway. (That's where the sign came from)

I don't think so.... I still don't like it.
I went free astray in the beginning of the year. Had private notes from Berger and Ry that I never noticed. The box moved. Now I know why I didn't notice. Belated apologies for my ignorance to both. Can we get Jane for the site? (won't work, cause I keep my speakers off except when watching dirty movies)

Cingular....not too familiar with them. I can't remember if they use the CDMA bands or the GSM bands.

tMobile blows dolphins, at least around here. Metro PCS is a Sprint reseller.

I use a company called PagePlus, and for $39.95 a month I get unlimited talk and text, but only 20Mb data, and I have used all of the data two months out of a year's time. You need a CDMA Verizon phone since they are on the Verizon network. You can look up Verizon's PREPAID coverage at Verizon's site and see if it will suit your needs. I bought my BlackBerry on eBay for a whopping $23, and the Palm before it for $36.

If you have a GSM phone that uses SIM cards (which I think Cingular uses) you can look up PureTalk, unlimited talk and text for $29 a month (I think...they may have changed) and just pop their SIM into your phone. If you port the number from Cingular the SIM is free (I think...it's been a while) or it's $5-10 or something like that. They use the AT&T network, so you can look up their coverage area on the AT&T site. I tried them, but I find where I am GSM phones give too much slapback because of the weak signals (that's where you hear yourself through the earpiece a half second after you speak) and they didn't cover from East Cupcake, VT to West Overshoe, NH so it didn't work for me...

They are both monthly pre-paid plans, but for the price (for me, anyway) it works really well. I was paying Verizon $94 a month for only slightly better coverage (there is a "Roaming" point for me around Wilmington VT and Jaffrey NH, but I only go to each place ~3 times a year. Roaming is 29 cents a minute! But those are the only two places where I go off network, everywhere else within my territory is clear, and I have gone from Hartford CT to White River Junction VT and only hit one roaming spot.

PagePlus also has a 1200 minute, 3000 text plan for $29, and they also have a new plan for $12 that gets you 250 minutes 500 texts and 10Mb data that can be replenished at any time.

If you DO go with PagePlus, give me a PM before you sign up, because I think I get free time for anyone who I convince to sign up!

Shoot, I ought to go to work for a cell company!

Addendum: I did look up coverage for Florida once because a friend had a Verizon phone, and they cover almost the entire state...

Tons of fun. The screen starts to turn and reverse and Jane starts saying "Turn around when possible".

Sorry. Guess it depends on your silly factor. My daughter and I will often drive past our destination, then giggle while waiting for Jane to stop saying "you have reached your destination" to "at the next street, turn left, turn left". Never gets old for us. A bonding moment.

The Jane on mine says "recalculating" in a very pissed off tone of voice. I changed it to Jack. Men never get pissed off when you don't turn wrong. They know the routine of not following directions.

We have an older than us friend that also RVs. They got a Garmin and she had me get all the different vehicles for her that you can pick from. A few weeks later she called and was just furious that it had taken them on certain streets where the RV really shouldn't have gone. I told her she had to compare to a map to be certain, but she said "I picked the damned RV for a vehicle, so it shouldn't have taken me that way!" After I picked myself up off the floor and regained my composure, I explained it to her.
