Hope you get a tracking number so you can check progress.
I usually check the USPS website about once an hour.
Even more often when it gets close.

Depends on where they are, and where you are.
USPS goes by zones. I get e-juice from Vt Vaper, and even though they are in the same zone it takes 2 days. Parts from Rocky Mt or Midwest Vapor take 3, and ALTSmoke 4.

When I got my 510, I had the USPS stop deliveries to the house and went to the PO to pick them up, because you can pick up at 9:30AM, but delivery doesn't get here until 2-3 PM!

Hi All.

I've been thinking about going the e-cig route for couple of months. Well today I decided to take the plunge. I really like all the postings here at vapeatron, they are so informative. As of right now I'm trying to make up my mind on which pen style to get, but to tell you truth I am one confused chicky. With all the info I'm sure I will figure it out, but just wanted to say hi.... so hi!

harper,
it is confusing for sure. What ever you do, don't spend a cent until you have determined which model is the absolutely best. If you are having trouble send me $5 (U.S.) and a self addressed stamped envelope and I will tell you the best model, the best juice, and the secret of a long and prosperous life. Sure.

I'll offer this advice for free though.
There is no BEST.
No model is as good as the guy selling it says.
Most models will work to HELP you get off tobacco products (You don't chew do you?)
My opinion is to start with a 401, 501, 910 starter kit, and some juice.
Most cartridges can re refilled with "e-juice" much cheaper than going through cartridges. Shop around.
Good luck, and Happy Holidays,
The Rocket

Thanks for the advice.
I don't chew, but I do smoke and really want to get the tobacco monkey off my back. At this point in my research I really dig the look of the pen styles. I will check out the starter kits you mentioned and will definitely look into getting some juice since it will save some cash.

Ha, the chew comment was a joke.
By "penstyle" I assume you mean any that look sort of like a cigarette and not specifically the DSE-801 "Penstyle"
Rocket

And, everybody chime in here:

when do you think she ought to order juice?

I recommend narrowing it down by 2 piece and 3 piece ecigs.

Oh I didn't mean the DSE-801 Specifically I just mean those that don't have filter and white cylinder look. Even if it was all black and was the same size and length of cigarette that would be just ducky with me.

Narrowing it down by 2 piece and 3 piece ecigs. Is there an like an obvious benefit to go with a 2 piece rather than a 3 piece (or 3 rather 2) or is it just a matter of preference?

Also thank you all for such a warm welcome and generous help

A three piece has a battery, an atomizer, and a cartridge

The two piece has a battery and a disposable atomizer or "cartomizer" as it is now called.

The big diffrence is with the 3 piece you have to replace atomizer and cartidges (the atomizers last a while) and the 2 piece you get a fresh atomizer with every replacement.

It all depends on what your daily routine is ... for instance a person with a desk job can drip juice and enjoy his 3 piece all day long, where as a person on the road alot doesn't want to drip and drive and finds the cartomizers a much easier way to vape.

Personally I use both, but I prefer my 2 piece mostly.

I hope that helps

Good Luck!!! Of course, opinions on e-gigs are like...um...er...mouths! Everyone has one!
I'm new to this (October) and one thing I can say is good thing you came here FIRST! I got into vaping the hard way..."Smoke Assassin". Now I had heard on TV news these e-cigs were ~$125 (too pricey for me!) so when I heard the ad for SA: $9.95 shipping for a FREE CIG!!!! Sure. And $69 for you first order of refills...25 'flavored' carts, no nicotine, and then $69 a month thereafter. The cig was a DSE084, a cute little thing that looks like a cig.

After coming here I called the company back...Do you have nicotine carts? No? Remember when it said I could cancel anytime? So I have 20 useless carts and a dead DSE084, which I could have bought online for $25 or less...(as far as dead e-cigs, see the thread The atty killer is on the loose...I'm becoming notorious...)

I have had a couple 'experiences' since then...and spent a LOT more than $125!!! But I also know what I like.

The 510 is a three piece that has s STRONG hit, lots of vapor, and a little harsh tasting. I like it because I was a Camel smoker. I have a nsty habit of killing attys on mine, but they're $7-10, so I pay what I would be paying for ONE pack for one week (that's how long they seem to last...) Battery life is the real issue here. I chain vape and a battery lasts about 45-90 minutes depending on how much I vape I always have a charger handy and just happened to have a 12V ciggy lighter cord that fit the charger.
A large cart, manufacturer claims a 'pack' of cigs, reality is 3-4 cig equivalent.

The DSE 901 is also a three piece, and it puts out pretty decent vapor, although the taste and 'throat hit' are a bit less than a 510. If you smoked 'light' cigarettes, this is probably a good three-piece choice. The battery is a little longer-lived than the 510.
Again, a decent cart, 3-4 cigs.

DSE084. Three piece, looks like a cig, feels like a cig, about 1 hour battery life (again, constant hitting) decent atty life, real good taste, light vapor, light throat hit. If you smoked lights, again, this is a good choice, they can be had for ~$25. The carts are SMALL and either need to be changed or refilled often (again, I am a heavy hitter; your mileage may vary...)

KR808B. Kind of a Big Brother to the 084, looks about the same, slightly longer battery life, really good taste, decent vapor, light throat hit. If taste is a big thing, with a seemingly normal amount of 'smoke', but again for a light cig smoker this is also good. Carts are small and need changing or refilling, but the flavor is really great.

KR808D. Like above, but uses 'cartomizers'. Put one on, vape till it quits, and then either refill it or toss it. I think the cartomizers have a funky taste; Snarky suggests adding some of your favorite juice and take the funkiness off. OK battery like above, moderate cost, moderate atty/cart life. A bit more 'flavor' and 'harshness' than the others except the 510; the real advantage is not a lot of mess. If you don't refill the carts (not as easy as a 510/901) then you toss it and attach another. Nothing easier!

Look for bargains on-line, esp with Christmas coming up. There will probably be some good sales. Just for comparison, I paid $43 for a 510 from Rocky Mt Vapor, which is two atomizers, two batteries (basically two e-cigs) and 5 carts. Or, from Lite-cig, $53 including a 10mL bottle of juice for refilling the carts. Le Cig has 084's for ~$25, and he has the 808s as well. Finding attys for the 084 is tough, so if you burn it, you'll be hunting.

One thing I like about the 510 and the 901: colors. I have two white batteries, two black batteries, two black attys (the white attys have been 'dealt with... ) two copper attys and two titanium attys. I use a white battery, white cart and a titanium atty, or, my favorite, a black battery, black cart and copper atty. Looks smooth...they also have pink, blue, titanium, copper, and red and blue LEDs. Mix and match!!

Now, about the $5 Rocketman was talking about...! (my two cents. Like I said, everyone wil have an opinion...)

We won't even talk about MODS yet!

I closed this without a word on juice! Again, opinions...I smoked Camels, so I was looking for something that tastes like a Camel. I also did some reading on FDA tests, and PG (Propylene Glycol) was shown in one test to produce Ethylene Glycol in minute amounts, but it's a toxin, so I avoid it. I wanted to get away from Cig hazards, right?! I live in Mass, and Vt Vapor is about 3 counties away, so I get my juice in 2 days, and they only use VG 9Vegetable Glycerin). The FDA test indicats VG based juices don't have toxins, at least as far as they have tested. I use their Tobacco, which is a strong Turkish/Cuban cigar tasting blend, made from real tobacco. I get the high nicotine since i I was a pack a day smoker. They have a Mint flavor I cut the Tobacco with, and it makes it taste smooth and sweet, but not Menthol. They also have a Mocha that is really tasty. I usually come up with a mixture and hit upon something that tastes like a Camel Turkish Royal, a Turkish tobacco flavor with a hint of chocolate (the Mocha adds that). Really good. One other one I tried was Mist-Stix Camel, VG recipe at 24mG (high) and that was pretty good, too. I mixed this with the VtV Tobacco and Mocha to come up with the Turkish Royal, but all by itself it was good, too. Mixed with the VtV Tobacco 50/50 it gave a nice smooth tobacco taste.

All of this WILL drive you crazy, but it's a short ride and you have LOTS of company!

Good Luck!

Uh, thanks, considering I AM a newbie!

But, I've always been a technician with an eye for data, and my short but expensive, er, I mean EXTENSIVE experience with these things taught me a few things! I'll probably be getting a two-piece before too long.

Or I'll make up something and buy an atty to kill...

Harper, welcome and good for you for deciding to vape instead of smoke! I smoked for over 50 years and my first starter kit got me off analogs so I hope you'll be as lucky. I haven't tried any of the 2-piece models but I'm very happy with my manual (that's important) 510 model that I started with and the mega-power batteries that last a lot longer between charges than the standard ones that come with the kit. A UK vendor, Totally Wicked, with a US location (close to us in Florida) is having a 30% off sale beginning Friday, 12/4, and lasting through 12/7 so you might want to check them out, especially if a 510 is your final choice: Electronic Cigarettes and eLiquid / Totally Wicked eLiquid / electronic cigarette eliquid nicotine fluid products. They're normally a little more expensive than other local smaller vendors but the 30% sale evens out the cost, they carry the mega-power 510 batteries, and I've found they're extremely reliable. Lots of online vendors now carry the 510 in a variety of colors so use the supplier list thread under General Discussion and shop around. Whatever you get will be better and cheaper than continuing to smoke! If you want some suggestions for online sellers, you can pm me. And check out LeCig's site linked in his posting above. Don't hesitate to ask for help or advice from anyone here; best vaping forum you'll find!

Hi Harper. I got all swamped after I offered to do a "job or two" so now I'm booked till Friday!
I discovered today, the first time I actually had a boatload of work, that my volcanoecigs.com are better for hanging in my mouth and puffing on while I type at the speed of lightening. I think it's considered a super-mini.
Just something I never considered before and something you can't do with a manual battery (as much as I like the manual - gotta use at least 1 finger to push the button!)
