So when i first heard about blu a few weeks ago, i was amazed and set on getting one. however, further research led me to determine that they suck. plus, i was unaware that you could buy blank carts and fill them with whatever you wanted. so i decided not to get a blu.

here is my problem.

i want something as close to a real cig in terms of size and vapor. The first one i looked at is the 401 dragon. Then i found out that its about 100mm. From there, i changed my mind to getting an 084. ive heard great things about them. however ive heard that the battery life is poor and the carts run out quickly. making it a bad choice to take around with me all day to use whenever i would normally smoke a smoke.

what should i do?

if i decided to forgo my length requirement and ge something that lasts longer, i was considering possibly a 901 or 510. but again, i have no idea. im completely new to this.

thoughts?

Noobs (in general)
Does anyone know of a "Life Size" e-cig, that has a battery and cartridge that would last all day without having to carry around batteries, a PCC, extra cartridges, and juice? well?
I have a little aftermarket cell phone pouch with 4 510s and a 1 dram bottle I carry, my Sprint Instinct factory case which I didn't like for the phone for my PCC, a cord at work, a cord at home (actually about a kazillion cords at home). A couple of USB chargers at work. More chargers at home sucking down the power grid.
This ain't easy folks, but it works. Might cost a little to get started, but it will probably save you money after about 6 weeks. Unless you spend it like I do. And it just might save you co-payments later in life. Try not to get discouraged at first. You will make a couple of mistakes that will cost a little money.

How many have every bought a fishing lure that never ever caught anything?
(no brand names, cause I try and not bad mouth any brands, and Bass Pro shops has so many other good products)

And don't forget the Rockets 510 Supplier Challenge #2 starts tomorrow morning.

The 403 is the same thing as the 401, only with a shorter battery. Why not get one of each so you can use the long battery when you don't want to recharge so often, or use the short battery when you're wanting the small & stylish? Either way, you'll want to get a case to store extra batteries, cartridges and a back-up atty at least.

The 510 is longer and thicker than the 401, but you can get those cool Portable Charging Cases for them.

I've only had bad experiences with the 901, so can't really help you there.

You could go totally non-traditional and get a Pen-Style like the 201, or even an ePipe or eCigar. Those things go a long time before you need to recharge or refill. I think with a ePipe or eCigar, someone could go to work without needing to tote around batteries and stuff. No personal experience myself, so they may not really last that long.

Good luck with your shopping, keep us updated.

naw, no pen style anything. thats way too big. i hate smoking 100's. i dont like how long they are. thats why i wanted something smaller. but i suppose i could go with something like the 501 instead of something smaller if the advantages outweighed the size

also, i dont have the money for 2.

whats the difference in the cart size and battery life between the 510, the 401 and the 084?

Not 2 kits ... 2 batteries. Ask the seller to swap one of the 401 batteries for a 403 battery. If you really don't like the 401, buy another 403 later. If you decide the length of the 401 is cool, buy another 401 battery later.

If you go with a 510, be sure to check out the PCC ... they're great!

The 510 comes with a 180mAh battery, which is supposed to be good for about 120 drags. The 401 has a 200mAh battery - about 220 drags. The 403 has a 100mAh battery - about 110 drags. I don't know about the 084.

The 510 has a larger cartridge (about 2x the size) than the 400s do, but I find that I need to refill it more often because of the way I use the manual battery.

I'll clarify some of my earlier post.

I don't bad mouth brands or sellers, at least not openly and directly.
I do bang on sellers that aren't truthful in their ads, or try to rip off consumers ($$$). That has caused so many to search for the Holy Grail of e-cigarettes.
The reliability of these products has improved but they still have failures.
Spares (yesterdays' word of the day) will be necessary to keep you analog free. "Juice" (today's word of the day) is the norm for most of us.
I agree with godling, and many others here in that several models work well, but none perfectly. Find something that seems to be a trend, has a lot of positive info.
This is a great place to learn.

well man, i'm kinda noob also, but i think i can help you.

i got two 084 and a 510.

here is my experience with those devices:

the 084 really looks like a analog (normal cigarette), but heavier
it's carts last for like 2 to 4 analogs max, depending on usage. the batt last for 2 or 3 refills max. you can vape a 084 around people normally and no one will ask you nothing.
if you are using the black 84 you gonna call alot of attention, including police.
it's hits are like a ultra light, depending on your juice. i recommend xhigh flavours if you are a 1 pack/day smoker.

i think the real deal with 84 is to walk around with a full pack of them. vape'em along the day and refill/recharge all at night.

now the 510, it's manual (need to push a button) and the carts are easier to refill. cart last for like 6 analogs or more, depending on usage. calls alot of attention on public and it's batts last double or more, comparing with 084. the 510 hits really looks like a analog.

for me, 84 is for outdoor use and 510 at home

i hope i helped you. sorry for the bad english :P

Can't comment on the 084, but I have both 510's (my preferred) and a 401 (the dragon, from truesmoker.com).

I used to smoke Camel Turkish Silvers (short). I vape 24mg juice.

I like the manual battery (has a button) on a 510 and how easy it is to refill a cart from a dripper bottle. I don't like that the batteries only seem to last a couple hours. I take three batteries with me to work and keep one in the charger most of the time. The 510 standard starter kit comes with two batteries, two atomizers, 5 carts and a wall charger. It works well, and gives good performance compared to the analogs I used to smoke.

The 401 (Dragon) is smaller and lighter. I like it, especially because the batteries seem to last quite a bit longer (about 4 hours in my experience). The batteries are automatic. It works well, but I think my 510 produces more vapor and I like the taste (using the same liquid) from the 510 a little better. The only thing I don't like is that it is a little difficult to fill the cart with a dripper bottle. The Dragon is a good value as it comes with two batteries, one atty, 10 carts and a cool case to carry it around in. It also comes with a USB charger that also has a wall adapter. So it's like you get two chargers with it. Oh, and it seems to me that the carts hold less liquid than the 510 does.

Plus the guy who sells it has some really cool pictures of it...

The difference in the carts:

On the 510 the cart slides into the atty. The wool is at the end of the cart and is easy to drip liquid into.

On the 401 the atty slides into the cart. The wool is down inside the cart so it's a little harder to "hit your target" with a dripper bottle.

Rick

I reccomend the Joye 306 or Janty mini fogger (same model) for a anolog size clone that performs.

You can easily graduate to the 510 afterward with compatable parts.

I tote 2 complete 084's & 2 extra carts

I could carry more*, but don't really feel I need to on a 3-4 hour sojourn out.

(I'm retired, so unless I'm boat fishing in the gulf or on the bay that is about it time wise. Both black and white 510's & the ultra realistic 084's are received well in public and one of the best times I had vaping was meeting up with other vapers in the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa FL. Glad I packed a spare... I like to share.)

Realistically I would recommend a 510 as multiple 084's can get pricey.

I'm still waiting on a few cases of the new PCC's for the 084's from China.
They may change the 084 battery problems slightly in the near future.

How ever you decide to go... keep on vapin!

*(20 do fit nicely in an old Marlboro pack.)

Your English has greatly improved also!

Keep vapin and posting!

Thank you!

(PS: An 084 does hit like a baaadasss Marlboro!!!)

(PSS: Keep carts cool, dry & in the dark.)

I find it interesting that so many people only carry a couple of ecigs with them at a time. I guess I am just paranoid or something but I carry 5 units of the supermini's 3 m401's and 2 m403's at all times. I recycled this cool little JBL hardsided earbud case. It has enough storage to hold all the ecigs, a usb dongle, a usb to ac power brick with fold in plug, 3 spare carts, pair of tweezers, and a 3ml bottle of juice. The head unit in my car has a usb plug on it and most of the places I go have access to either AC power or USB and I still feel barely prepared. I am still trying to find a few extra centimeters of space in this case to put a second backup bottle of juice. I figure at least that way, if I get stuck in the woods...... Anyway, besides Rocket is there anyone who overprepares like this? I just keep replaying those worst case scenarios in my head. Trapped in an elevator for 20 hours, stuck in the lobby of the FDA looking for sanity, locked in a tobbacco store and so forth.

I feel ya drdave! I have carried as many as 5 PV's early on. I have several 510 PCC's now (most for future modding), but rarely go out with one.

I guess for me it all come down to knowing my equipment. Trusting it, but knowing I have a backup contingency for it.

You know of my fondness for the lowly Dse084... I do at times have what you might call a paranoia.

Now you know why I speak so fondly of the 084 PCC's I have arriving hopefully in a few days.

They have only been seen in pictures, no one in the USA or UK has had one made commercially physically in their hands to my knowledge. I had to jump through manufacturers hoops and I won't even mention how many I have coming or much I have invested.

Anyway... all part of that contingency backup plan that I have for my hordes of 084's.

So remember you are not alone.
