| Hi,
I am neakybird1 and have just started using the ecig. I had actually quit smoking for 5 years but never got over the need so I decided to try these and I am one happy girl. I get the hand to mouth satisfaction as well as a little nicotine to keep the brain calm. I love it.
Question 1. I use the Smokestik because I like the idea that is made in the US. I have found that there seem to be a higher than expected number of leaky cartridges (use cartomizers ?sp) and I have also had three that wouldn't screw on correctly. Would I do better with the 3 piece?
Question 2. I have developed laryngitis with this, pretty severe too. Anyone else with this problem or anyone have suggestions?
Question 3. I don't understand the ecig lingo that is used in the forum. Is there a list of what the terms mean? For example atty I am not sure if that stands for atomizer or automatic battery (what is an automatic battery?)
See, lots of questions.
Hope someone has the time to help me.
Thanks

| 1.Not familiar with that brand but the cost is about double that of most ecigs! Looks like one of those ripoff sites. Also I doubt very much that this is made in the USA. If prefilled cart are leaking and/or will not screw on this is a really poor product. I suggest that you research kr808d-1's if you like cartomizers or D510's if you want a 3 piece. Also being off nic for 5 years you may want to get 0mg carts..it would be a shame to get back into the nicotine addiction.
2.I have never heard of anyone developing laryngitis from an ecig.
3.atty is short for atomizer |

| My voice seemed to change a little bit when I started vaping and I find myself clearing my throat but it's getting to be less and less I think. But my cough has gone and so has the wheezing at night while trying to sleep. But laryngitis? I haven't heard of that either. The Smokestik I find online looks like the 808 since it uses cartomizers. I agree with tarkus about researching the KR808D-1. Mike at LeCig, E Cigarette, Ecigarettes, Electronic Cigarette, E Cigs right here in this forum would be happy to help you out with them. Tarkus also mentioned the 510 which is very popular. One of the best places for those are Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. and a lot of people really like them myself included. The site I looked at with the smokestik seemed expensive but if it keeps you away from analogs they are worth every penny. Someone mentioned a while back about making a glossery of e-cig terms here but I looked a little bit and couldn't find it. Like tarkus said atty is atomizer, cart is cartridge. An auto battery is the type that work by inhaling via a micro switch inside. A manual battery has a button that is pressed to make it work. Just hang around and you'll learn fast as they come along. You'll also hear the term MOD a lot. That is either a modified e-cig or a completly hand made e-cig usually for more voltage or longer lasting battery or both. I hope the best for you and vaping.
tarkus, your avatar sure brings back 70's memories. Some good some not so good and most are kinda fuzzy. |

| I found a list of some of the terms here at the "Vapers Forum" Vapeatron.com, Vapers Forum - View Single Post - The Wonderful World of Vaping: An Illustrated Guide to E-cigs, V1.1
I got there through this forum, but I can't remember how because I have been jumping all over the place looking at all the great info I am finding here
I am using the low or no nicotine level for now. I really don't mind the addiction to nicotine since it makes me feel a lot better, it's the other toxic junk that scares me. |

| Mauger your post, I can see how one may develop laryngitis from an ecig, but I could only consider it being via PG-based liquids as they are rougher on one's throat than VG-based liquids; although, I too have never heard of such symptoms from an electronic cigarette. Also keep in mind that some people (this is few and far between) have a slight allergy to Propylene Glycol.
According to WebMD‡ and a couple other sources:
"Laryngitis can be caused by:
* Colds or flu. This is the most common cause.
* Acid reflux, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This type of laryngitis is also called reflux laryngitis.
* Overuse of your voice, such as cheering at a sports event.
* Irritation, such as from allergies or smoke."
So it's possible I'm sure, but not likely in my opinion.

Hmmm...I don't think they're MADE in the US...
SmokeStiks are the ONLY e-cigarette packaged and assembled in the USA with quality control, shipping, customer service and distribution also located in America!
But you are dealing with a US distributor...OK.
As far as laryngitis, I don't have laryngitis, but I do notice my throat gets "bogged down". Remember, this is a "vaporizer". Ever stuck your head under a towel to concentrate the output from a vaporizer? Basically the same thing. You are vaporizing a liquid, and concentrating it. Probably coughing more, but it's in the throat and not in the chest like ciggies.
Also, I notice the liquid used in the SmokeStik is PG based, and probably comes from China. I like to stick with VG based juice from US manufacturers.
Lingo? You'll catch on!

Lingo? You'll catch on! | I took what the retailer said at face value (Utopia Cigars) and now that I look at the wording I see that it is exactly as you said which is a little misleading but it does say assemebled.
I am going to try to cancel the order I just made and try something else. I will try to find one that is cheaper, uses
VG based juice and maybe one that I fill myself if I can figure out how to do that.
Thanks everyone, you straightened out my thinking for me and I appreciate it.

| lo...screw the Chinese battery onto the Chinese cartomizer and maybe fill the cartomizers with juice = assembled in America. I just cannot believe there is enough assembly to justify a made in America claim.
There are lots of good US distributors.
Sorry but I just get more and more torqued with vendors that try to bone the uninformed. |

neakybird1 | They are a bit expensive!
Check out LeCig. He has good prices and a good variety. For $18 you can get an 84mm cig and see if you like it. For a three piece like a 901 Rocky Mountain Vapor has good prices, and someone posted a link in another thread to someone (Mad Vapes?) selling a 510 'disposable' for $10! These aren't as carefree as LeCig's D1 or the 84mm models, but they throw out a LOT of vapor! Rocket likes the 'cartomizers' from LeCig, they are easy to use. I think they are a little harsh, but I have a 510 and people think they're harsh!
Offhand, if you smoked Camels (especially Camel straights) the D1 or D2 is a good choice. Marlboros, a 510 or a 901. A "lady" cigarette like Virginia Slims or Kent, go with an 84mm. Ditto if you smoked lights. The 510 can at first be overwhelming! My first few hits knocked ME for a loop, and I was rolling non-filters as well as filters!
I liked my 84mm, but it was a light hitter (I smoked Camels for a few years then switched to roll yer owns with a blend of tobaccos. I like a HEAVY hit.)
But, as you'll come to find out about me here, I burned it out in three days!

The reason I went with it, even though it was very expensive was because they stressed the made in America aspect and I buy American if I can. Oh well, live and learn. Next time I will study more and, hopefully, get suckered less Thanks. |

| Neaky, Don't feel too bad. You are just one of many. There are quite a few sites like this out there and a lot of people get caught by them not realizing how large and competitve the real ecig market is. If nothing else be positive because it has kept you from smoking and led you here. |

Pay $9.95 shipping and then $70 for 25 cartridges. OK, sounds pretty cheap, when cigs are selling in Mass for $75 a carton!
Then I found out...no nicotine. Then I started looking around on the net, and then found this place. Then I got a 510 kit (2 batteries, 2 atomizers and 5 16mG carts) for $40. They got here the day after my 084 burned out the atty...When I found out I could not get nicotine carts for the 084 from them I cancelled.
Now they are advertising another product, with nicotine...FREE! Just pay $9.95 shipping...
And I'm sure $70 for $20 worth of carts...
And I'm making my own power sources for my 510 atomizers, with 12 bottles of juice sitting in front of me...

According to their website there is NO nicotine in their cartridges and wow, are they pricey!!!!

| They let me go after the first $70, which had to be paid up front with the cigarette delivery.

It's really simple, however, go to the "The atty killer is on the loose..." tread and see my luck with atomizers. I don't know if it's my "alternate power sources" killing them or not, I've burned attys on a Joye USB pass-thru!
The technology is really simple: a 3.7v Lithium Ion battery, a heater (atomizer) and a supply of liquid to vaporize (the cart). Now, if I can figure out how to build my own bullet-proof attys...
I have one mod I use in the car using a TI power chip, a flashlight and the power cord for my XM receiver. Who needs batteries!!

You'd make a fortune as the only perfect (almost since nothing man made is) ecig going! I'll be a tester for you |

| Now, go to "NOT another flashlight mod!"
I'm on it!
Setting up manufacturing is the hard part. Messing with the stuff is easy, except for the attys.

| I could make one tomorrow. It would be about the size of a golf ball, but I would guarantee it for LIFE!
And vape like a fog machine, to boot! Problem is, how do I carry a 65V power supply around with me?
