Made in the USA, from genuine Chinese parts

Um, this is NOT a recommended setup for a laptop!
Really hate to contradict but I think your way off here? A 20g wire should be capable of easily handling 8-10 amps bro. My measured load is about 1.9-2.4A as far as my meter is concerned. If anything it might be a little big. But the wire in my USB cables looks like its about a 26-30 gauge and I am pretty sure that is gonna be the prob. with the PT. All the USB cables I have pulled apart are real small wire though.

@Rocket - Does that PT you made work? I mean with that looooong cable cable..

I went by this: http://diyaudioprojects.com/Technica...an-Wire-Gauge/

Point to point wiring is 11A, but "Power Transmission" is about 1.5. I usually "overengineer" everything, anyway...However, I did find something that says a 20GA copper wire with polycarbonte is good for 14A. YMMV....

And considering you're currently (no pun intended) using 30GA, moving to 20 might well resolve your issue.

I haven't measured the voltage drop but it does charge. The eGo charger is "rated" at 420ma. But that is with a cell with a low charge. My guess is that with a cell over half charge it is putting out maybe 200ma. The 5 volt input would be close to that.

A pair of 20 foot cords still charges. but again, I don't know what the output is.
I don't think the wires are as small as 26 to 30 ga. Cat5 wire is 24ga. The power leads in a good USB cable ought to be about that.

EDIT: THE CABLES I HAVE ARE 24GA FOR THE POWER LEADS AND 28 GA FOR THE DATA LEADS.

@Steam - Thx much for the linkage bro. I will look through them and C what I C.

@Rocket - I was trying to understand how that mod actually worked. I get that your primary goal is to keep the battery topped off. I like that 4.2v hit as well. I did not understand how you were using it. Thought you were hitting it while it was plugged in at first. The cable I was trying to use, I was able to verify. It is 28g wires, except for the ground/shield.. That's a dollar cable for you. Have a gazillion of em.
Thx for the reply R.

@Rose - Really sorry Rose. I needed an answer. Did not mean to bore ya to tears. Stupid electrical mumbo jumbo talk. Gonna stop it right now!
