So what exactly is meant by this post? I see... I hope everything goes well with e-cigarettes in US. Cause we are all going to be dead without them, specially my VirtuSmoke.

I just talked with Amy at ECA and dropped her this video. I'm not sure if it is on the site already, but it is a must watch IMO ... a couple of minutes into it RJ Reynold's Grandson promotes ecig smoking.

You got to love the fact the he is in support!

gmama,

I'd suggest a look through this thread and I'm sure you'll find lots of good info on Canadian online (and maybe even some brick and mortar) suppliers.

If you have a problem finding a Canadian supplier, post back and I'll steer you towards some that ship within Canada and therefore have little or no customs issues.

gmama55, you're on the right track checking out forums and learning about e-cigs. I started the same way in June 09 and quit smoking the day I got my 510 (after 50+ years, 2 packs a day). Dealers, suppliers, vendors, etc. can't say it without getting smacked down but I can: The best chance you have to quit smoking is to start vaping! There are thousands of others out there who could agree with this statement; so many who tried the patch, the gum, prescription medicine, and failed are now tobacco-free because they discovered vaping. Read all you can on this forum, ask questions, look at vendor websites, pm any of us to ask specifics; we'll do everything we can to help you learn about the best way we know to quit using tobacco. Once you're vaping happily, you can gradually reduce the nicotine until you're off that, too, but first, you'll need to find the e-cigarette (or personal vaporizor or nicotine inhalator, whatever it may be called) that's the right one for you. There are many experts on this forum who know lots more than I do about models and suppliers and they willingly share their info; I'm just one of the cheerleaders or, as Hans and Franz used to say on SNL, "I'm just here to pump you up!" Don't respond on this thread since we're way off-topic (it's a news thread); jump over to the "introduce yourself" thread in the "new user" forum and we'll all pick it up there.

Well people I finally stuck my foot out and tripped.. on USA Today They had put an article about e-cigs out and I just had to comment lol
Firestorm over smokeless cigarette - USATODAY.com

and here is my rant:

I had a long comment typed but something happened on the puter and I lost it, so short and sweet(too ticked about it disappearing to type it again) I am 52, have COPD if you don't know what that is look it up. I started vaping over a month ago, got my electronic (e-cig) cigarette in the mail and as soon as I started vaping I never lit another tobacco cigarette again(3 packs full flavor 100s a day), Oh won't the Government and Big Tobacco cry when they find out that I'm not paying those prohibiting taxes and buying tobacco anymore...which is what this is all about. It's not about health. FDA didn't care that we were smoking and dying as long as they were getting their cut. Tobacco Cigarettes were fine..great even.. All they had to do was put a small warning that cigarettes WERE hazardous and WILL cause cancer to most smokers and even non-smokers from second-hand smoke. FDA didn't even test these right..what they took 2 out of all the companies found carcinogens in one that they never tell you that for it to kill you u would have to smoke 12,500 or something like that a day or that it can be found in all of their FDA approved Nicotine gums and patches ..oops!..Oh and it is even in our bacon!!! OMG!! Don't let us live a better, healthier life....that might save people lives... But can you imagine what would happen if more people quit smoking and went to vaping... Well I for one don't feel sorry for the non-smokers who will have to just belly up and pay their share of taxes that smokers because of a habit mind you overly paid for years..Look and see how much taxes you pay for ONE pack of Tobacco cigarettes.. In my 1 and a half months of vaping I have saved several hundred dollars, am breathing better and my whole family is so happy for me ..I love em!!..No I am NOT an e-cig seller but I am on my soapbox saying Stop smoking and Start VAPING.. you will feel the difference...and that difference is FANTASTIC. My opinion my 2 cents. Don't dis me on it!

Oh and another thing.. If you think I am circumventing smoking bans.. you are either uneducated or plain stupid I am not smoking I am vaping and if you don't like seeing vapor coming out of my mouth...look elsewhere, not your business. I don't poke my head into your space don't poke yours into mine and don't walk up to me telling me you don't like it that I am vaping and that you don't think I should do this in public because YOU don't like it..lookws too much like smoking? Well honey I am tired of looking at signs that say No Smoking..Every freaking where.. and I am tired of being a second class citizen.. I quit smoking in public for you people..but dam if I will quit vaping because...OH you don't like it!! Get a hobby!!
Sorry if I look like I am ranting but I don't see that this is anyones business but the people who actually smoke or vape..nonsmokers seem to just love putting their 2 cents in and telling us what we can do... Well now I can do it just about anywhere I go..of course I would not vape in the front row of a theatre..I would sit in the back and vape

Vaping in my office building is considered unprofessional. I'm pretty sure it's due to the illusion of smoking. =\

Electronic Cigarette Association Urges Unbiased Evaluation of E-cigarettes as Debate Intensifies Around These Devices

WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)--
As the debate heats up concerning the use of electronic cigarettes, Electronic
Cigarette Association (ECA) President Matt Salmon today encouraged those
involved in this discussion to carefully and honestly study how these devices
work and recognize that the more than one million adult committed smokers, who
use electronic cigarettes, are seeking an alternative to combustible cigarettes
that contain a multitude of toxic, harmful chemicals.

The debate on these devices has intensified in recent months as events have
fueled and focused attention on electronic cigarettes, including a front-page
story last week and a follow-up editorial in yesterday`s edition of USA Today
and stories or editorials in other major newspapers such as the New York Times
and Los Angeles Times. Governor Schwarzenegger`s veto of a bill that would have
denied California citizens the right to purchase electronic cigarettes and a
warning by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) based on a flawed, narrow
study have also contributed to the growing debate.

"Unfortunately, many of the arguments we`ve seen recently against electronic
cigarettes have been driven by fear of the unknown, insufficient evidence,
political agendas, and ignorance about our members` products," said Salmon. "As
in the case of California Governor Schwarzenegger, we`ve found that reasonable
people, when willing to honestly and intellectually evaluate the information
about electronic cigarettes, find that these products provide smokers a viable
alternative to combustible tobacco cigarettes."

Some legislators have taken a stance against electronic cigarettes as a result
of an FDA study that Salmon says was extremely narrow in scope and failed to
follow established scientific protocols. The Electronic Cigarette Association
has called on the FDA to take a more scientific approach and to work with ECA
members before making any hasty decision to ban electronic cigarettes
altogether. Such a ban would leave smokers without an alternative to combustible
cigarettes, whose toxic substances and life-threatening health effects are
clearly documented and which the FDA has no intention of banning.

"We understand that to protect the public, some form of regulation may be
necessary, and we welcome that. Our goal, nevertheless, is to ensure committed
adult smokers the freedom of a clear, better alternative and to prohibit sales
to minors," said Salmon.

About the Electronic Cigarette Association

The ECA (Electronic Cigarette Association) is an association of private sector companies engaged
in electronic cigarette technologies. Its mission is to provide the tools and
information necessary for policy-makers, opinion leaders, media, and private
sector companies worldwide to make informed decisions about the management and
use of electronic cigarette technologies. The association institutes and
promotes industry-wide standards and a code of conduct, works to maintain sound
professional practices, educates the public and policy-makers on the industry`s
activities and potential, and works to ensure the ethical use of electronic
cigarette technologies.

First, the FDA is all wet about e-cigs not being healthier than tobacco products.
Most of us don't vape super high NIC juice all day long, wouldn't buy those contaminated (with DEG) cartridges anyway, we only buy good pure trustworthy e-juice. As soon as I taste even a trace of DEG iN my juice I toss it out. Even though I like tobacco flavored juice, I decided not to vape it (not often) because it might have a little tobacco squeezins in it.

What gets me is the "has not been submitted for study" crap. They will go off and do a poorly designed chemical anal ysis and report bad data. Why not retest?

These companies selling these things to us and making the big bucks wouldn't try and trick us, cheat us, ignore our health would they? Of course not. How would they fund the VIP club scams if we all died from vaping there juice.

The quoted "governor" did little but to defer to the outcome of the federal system. But even that is better than those that BAN a product with POTENTIAL.

(just checked the members online list, and I'm here ranting and raving to myself)

Wikipedia:
In Canada, as of March 2009, imports, sales, and advertising are banned. In March 2009, Health Canada also advised Canadians not to purchase or use any electronic smoking products. Health Canada cited the Food and Drugs Act, stating that electronic smoking products containing nicotine require market authorization before they can be imported, marketed, or sold. No market authorization has been granted for any electronic smoking product
