So the mysterious lithium batteries. I don't get it. Some people say to only run them down half way and recharge. Some say all the way. My 801 wanted me to charge it 3 times for 12 hours then just 4 after that. My 510 wanted me to charge it for 8 use for 20minutes then charge again for 1 hour? beond that about 1 hour. What the heck? I want to do the right thing. Can anyone smarter than me (most of you) tell me what's best?

Thank You,

Follow the instructions. Some lithiums operate better after conditioning. The manufacturers will always give you the correct information on the particular batteries that come with various e-cigs.

Found a great article at BatteryUniversity.com

The brief version:
* Avoid frequent full discharges. Several partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion.
* Keep lithium-ion batteries cool. (i.e. Don't leave it in a hot car)
* Prolonged storage should be at a 40% charge level in a cool place (but not frozen).

There is no danger to frequently recharging a lithium-ion battery, even if you only used it for 10 minutes - unless it has a built-in fuel gauge (i.e. Laptop Batteries). If you discharge it too far though, it may stop functioning.

But, as KreeL said ... it is best to follow the manufacturers instructions. They know the exact battery you have, and have done the research to know how best to utilize it.

Ok, cool place: GOOD
Recharge whenever: JUST FINE
Full Discharge: NOT SO GOOD
Store: 40% CHARGE LEVEL
Directions: FOLLOW (never what to do what I'm told...but in this case probably a good idea)

question: on e-cigs, is a full discharge in effect when the bat blinks a bunch and it shuts down?

Send a message via Skype™ to esmoker
its not full discharge. The Li-Ion battery inside has 3.6V if empty, and 4.2V if fully charged.

Vaporizer operation will not be well if its less than around 3.8 V. So the protection circuit (blinking LED) comes early enough to prevent deep discharge.

Once the battery states "empty", discontinue use and charge the device...
