| I know, I know- everyone has different tastes, and no one can definitively say This or that juice is "the BEST"... But I'm a chocoholic, and I can't be alone out here, right?
So far, I've had: Perfumer's Apprentice's Double chocolate (via DIYFlavorshack), Chocolate Cake from Grand River Vapors, and Chocolate & Chocolate Fudge Brownie from VikingVapors, as well as my own first try at blending over at Gourmet Vapors, which I dubbed "Chocolate Lust" before ordering a bottle to taste.
My honest opinion, and singling no one out specifically, was that all of the pre-mixed chocolates were too airy. Lovely to smell, both in the bottle, and in the vapor as it hung in front of my face, but lacking any kind of belly. The richness vanishes on the back of your tongue.
I found very quickly that adding a few drops of a nice salty butter flavor (Perfumer's Apprentice Butter was excellent, though she's saying now she's not sure it's safe to vape... ) gave all my choco's a bit more of that rich melty full taste. I do know that a little salt does work wonders with actual physical chocolate, so the savory may have been what did the trick. Sadly, the DIY butter flavoring that didn't come from Perfumer's Apprentice was not savory at all, and did nothing for anything I added it to. (Can't really give any thumbs up for that particular flavor, I'm afraid...)
What I need is a nice savory substitute for the P.A. butter- something that's a bit salty and creamy, without much distinctive tang or taste apart from that. I know they make sweeteners, and DE-sweeteners, but a little salty advice from the peanut gallery would be most welcome and helpful.
As for my custom Chocolate Lust? Well, probably vain of me to say so, but it was a bit better, I thought, but only because I'd tasted all those others, and knew what the inherent issues were that I'd need to overcome. In the end, my mix was 50% chocolate, 30% cocoa, and 10% each of hazelnut & praline, in a 70/30 pg+vg blend, with a low 12mg nic, since I knew I might want to mix it with other juices, and could always dose it up a bit with some straight 36 if I liked it enough to vape it on it's own much. So far, I've found it goes very nicely with a bit of Vapor Country's 555. (nice nutty compliments there.)
More chocolate insights, as well as any advice, and/or tips on savory mixers would be most welcome! |

| agree it's a shame about the butter flavoring, but I found flavors like that to be somewhat dulled by the butter flavor. I like to spice mine up a little, cinnamon, anise, etc. added to RedBull .
I've found that a very small amount of vanilla flavor, not enough to taste like vanilla, helps to bring out some flavors.

| Thanks Bikes- I think... *lol*
Seriously though- I'm a sensualist. When I started smoking, it was a dumb peer pressure thing, and I'm sorry I did it, but over many years of indulging that addiction, I'd come to really appreciate the complexities and subtleties of tobacco blends. It was much more expensive to explore that world though, and vapor has so much more potential! I adored vaping from the very first puff, and the process of sampling, mixing, and exploring effects is a big, exciting, and delightful new world! Add to that the thought that a delicious vape has exactly ZERO calories, and I can indulge my sweet tooth for hours on end? Awesomeness beyond compare.
I'll post what I learn about chocolates here, and I really do hope to lure some fellow chocophiles into sharing their own secret stashes.
Rocket- I do like a little hint of cinnamon in my chocolate now and then- Mexican chocolate they call that I believe, and thanks for the nudge to try it in a vape! But I'm not convinced that something as aromatic as spices tend to be could really fill out the base notes. I would tend to expect them to simply add to the complexity of those airy top-scents. I also admit, I've got that southern butter-love goin' on- I can even vape the stuff straight. Butter is my bacon. (And yeah. I did in fact try bacon with the chocolate. Didn't work for me. What I' really looking for though is some other savory taste to replace the butter, in case the Perfumer's Apprentice stuff does turn out to be unsafe. If there was a "salt" flavoring, that'd be ideal, though I suspect there's not. Maybe I'll turn out to be wrong!

| oooooo! Got my passthru hooked up as I type, and I just drip-mixed a drop of the Viking Fudge Brownie into my going mix of Chocolate Lust... and realized something very close to the taste of a Hershey bar... Not a bad discovery at all! That- and I'm playing with the old french-inhale routine, to get a bit more of it in my nose, which also seems to fill out the flavor some. Still, I'm a lazy @ss, and would rather not have to work so hard at my indulgences. *lol* |

| Flashwitt, looking forward to your recipe.
The OTC chocolate that rings my bell is the mint truffle Hershey Kisses that come out at Christmas. If I found that taste as an e-liquid I'd only go out of the house to check the mail.

I have their chocomint, and it's like a thin mint cookie. I haven't tried the straight chocolate yet, but if it's as good as the rest of their flavors...

I just ordered some chocolate Vapriot juice to refill with. They aren't the thick deep chocolate that I like the most, but they've kept my hands out of the candy bowl. |
