| I know there IS an "official" Juices thread- but that's very much a structured place for merchants to hawk their wares and tell us about the newest hot flavors they've concocted. I can't be the only one who just wants to discuss juices I've tried, ask questions about others, discuss recipes for home brews, and so on, can I? So. Juices. Let's talk.
I got a 555 recently from Vapor Country that rocks awesomely. Loving it. So I picked up a tri-5 from Juicy... which turns out to have a strange ozoney, rubbery, chemical body that I can't stand. These being my only T5 experiences so far, input from other 555 vapers would be appreciated. I get the impression that it, like the RY4, is very different from one maker to another.
The ozoney thing- is that a trait of some thinner, or vape mask, or something? I read somewhere someone tried the mask and thought it "chemically", and that's exactly what I'd call this trait.
My chocolate happiness has so far come from Viking Vapors and Juicy, and I'm happy to say, chocolate and the tri-5 are a really good match.
Butters are a big deal with me, because I want salt without "umami"- you know, how peanut butter cookies can be salty and sweet, but you can't really pull it off with garlic, or "meaty" flavors? So far, I've tried Flavorart(from VaporRenu,) DIY Vapor Shack (which used P. Apprentice,) Perfumers Apprentice, and Fairies Favorites. So far, ONLY the P. Apprentice stuff which is marked as not safe for vaping has been what I wanted- but now they tell me I shouldn't vape that. The others have all been candy-sweet, which ruins the whole point for me. It's like I go to salt my cantaloupe only to discover someone has sneakily replaced the salt with sugar... Bleh. Not what I wanted. The stuff from VaporRenu/FlavourArts seems to be settling, and losing a lot of it's excessive sweetness, but it's hard to be sure yet. I have my hopes up.
My mixing skills are not. I tend to dump some flavor up to about a third of a
3ml bottle, drip in some glycerin and 36mg, shake, and call it good, but this winds up with flavors that seem to sort of coagulate- the VG is way too thick to use as a base all by itself. Haven't tried thinning with water or alcohol yet. I want to get a bottle of straight PG, so I can tinker with the consistency, throat-hit, and vape production before I start judging my creations too harshly. Also, I have NO system of keeping track of my recipes, really, and my labels are often so completely cryptic even *I* can't make sense of them after a week or two. Anyone else have this haphazard style of mixing?

| Hard to be sure- though it seems to happen most when I'm taste-testing, and not as much when I'm just enjoying my vapes. I tend to drip-mix- Dunno if others do that as much. I keep a few favorites in my pocket, and I'll grab whatever atty tastes best and seems to be giving me the best hit at that moment. When the atty goes dry, I'll lean toward one or another flavor, so I'll and up with, for example, a 555 + Chocolate of some sort, and I'll drip with the choco til I start to miss the 555, or toss in a splash of pistachio or butter or whatever if I feel like I want to lean another direction. Usually does well for me, though sometimes I find myself doing the vape-version of chasing the dragon. (nudging and poking the flavors, trying to get back to that perfect place.) I can't perfectly replicate good OR bad experiences, but I also find a chaotic pleasure in the ephemeral quality of each vape. I'm just that artsy-fartsy. I do find after it's been perfect for a while, it seems to fade from my tongue quite a bit. It's definitely nice to have a couple of pre-mixes I love, that I can always return to when my homebrews start getting a little too esoteric.
Have I mentioned GRV's Juicy Pear? Not here, yet, at least! Wow- seriously insanely pear flavor. LITERALLY like chomping on a fresh juicy pear. I worry about dripping juice and sticky fingers- it's that good. But it's persistent- the flavor will cling to an atty more than you'd expect from a fruit, even though there is nothing candy like about it. On the whole, GRV left me a little underwhelmed. Their chocolate cake isn't bad- nice when mixed with bigger better chocolates, mostly. The tobacco flavors are bizarre, and they all have a strong black tea aftertaste, and I don't mean, like a vague sense of tea- I mean like swigging it black from the cup- in fact, like sucking on a teabag. Their black tea is VERY black tea, of course, if you like that taste. But the service was good, and if their other fruits are anything like the pear, oh my god!
Vt- I assume you mean Vermont- are simply too expensive for me to fiddle with at this point. VaporRenu.... well, there's the bigass sale, and all, but all I've gotten from them is some 36mg unflavored, and their Flavorwest butter (no nic). The butter was sweet as hell straight from the bottle, but it's been breathing, and seems to have improved. Buter's one of those.... not quite flavors. You'd never vape it alone. It's a note within a flavor-chord, so to speak, and it's not a matter of good or bad, so much of it's the right note or it isn't, and so far it hasn't been. I've been flying in the face of danger, and adding a drop or two of the "don't vape this" butter where I need it. I know. I'm like... a crazed maniac. You can't stop me. I drip with 36! I eat gluten by the spoonfuls, and put MSG on all my food....Sometimes, when no one's looking, I run with scissors.

Ok...shill time. I got some Cherry from them and it's great. It really tastes like cherry, and mixing it with tobacco makes it taste like one of those flavored cigars. I got some strawb. and raspb. from them, too, but haven't tried them yet.
I got some "mixed berry" flavoring from the machine at the local convenience store, used to flavor your coffee. It's ingredients are PG, Natural and artif. flavors. I mixed it with some unflavored 48mG and...it tasted just like what you described.
I just dripped some strawberry. It tastes like...strawberries. I didn't get the mixed berry as a sample based on my experience with the flavoring I tried, and it looks like its universal.

So, I just came across VoidMist.com. Anyone familiar with their products? They seem to allow some on-site custom mixing similar to Gourmet Vapor, and the prices are comparable.
More Juice Talk! I got several orders over the holidays- here's my juice-hording two-bits' worth about them:
Brownie Batter from Juicy! Have I mentioned I love it?
Got some spicy stuff from MadVapes... Gingerbread, Carrot cake, and banana bread. The banana bread is not bad- very much like Banana Bikes candy, if you remember those. Sort of taffy flavored. Not much breadiness, and a hint of a chemical afterbite that keeps it from being fantastic. The gingerbread and carrot cake I'll review together, since they are equally loathsome. Remember that really cheap church-rummage-sale potpourri that tried to pretend to smell spicy/orchardy, but instead was more like really really awful cloying cheapass perfume? Well, these both taste and smell just like that to me. Nasty nasty nasty. (Imho. Tastes are always subjective. But YUCK!)
Madvapes threw in a bottle of Lemon-Blueberry Cotton Candy as a bonus/trial, so try it I did. Kinda good... on the first puff. by the second puff, I was pretty much over that. I hadn't planned a third puff really, but I couldn't get the stuff out of my atty. Maybe these goops have their place. Maybe watered down with a LOT of nic and PG and VG and some vapewizard and some everclear and some distilled water, and all but hidden under some other hardcore extreme flavor, they'd be perfect. No personal disrespect to Madvapes- they were super cheap, and sent my order fast, even during the holidays, plus the bonus bottle, which, even if I hated the contents, was a friendly gesture on their part....
Got a tiny sample of Good Prophets' 555. Tough to judge the stuff. It smells kinda footy, if ya know hat I mean, but the flavor's nice- if different than I expected. It's woodsy and musky. *LOL* Sitting here vaping it, trying to let my mind drift so I can capture what it reminds me of and it hit me. Clean rodent cages. Some might think that's gross, but I don't mean it in a gross way. Anyone with pet hamsters, ferrets, rats, etc... will know what I mean I imagine.
I haven't weighed in yet on Vapor Renu really. The only thing I've gotten from them was straight vg/36 nic, and since then have decided I prefer mix, just because vg is too damned thick by itself, alcohol tastes like alcohol, and water... feels foggy and wet when I vape it, so PG is good both to thin, and for throat hit for me. Since they don't sell nic in a vg/pg mix, and 36 is as high as they go, I'm leaning away from them somewhat. Still, they do have decent prices. Maybe I should take some of their flavors out for a spin.

Here I go again, but the main reason I stick with Vt Vapor is the lack of perfumey aftertaste with their juices. I only name names on stuff I like, so I won't say who's coffee flavor tasted a lot like anything but coffee...Chanel No5 seems to describe it best. High Caliber's tobacco left something to be desired but their Coffee Expresso has a kind of delightful nutty taste, and added to a tobacco flavor gives it a roasted flavor not unlike Camel straights.
Other flavors I have tried (mostly Dekang, I think) have that nasty perfumey taste and smell, and one tasted like fresh pineapple with coconut, not bad except it was supposed to be Turkish Blend... Quote:

I use it to boost up my Vt Vapor stuff, because the higher nic keeps me from smoking more ciggies. They're having a sale right now; if I ever get PAID I'll order some more!

I've seen quite a few reviews like yours that say "I'm not going to name names but..." and I'm left with this shadowy fear that I might spend my very dear and limited cash on something that someone could have warned me away from. I do get adventurous, and you definitely have my curiousity peaked! As for boosting- yeah. I think my nic range slides up and down with my moods and the time of day. Sometimes an 18 is plenty, other times, I want to drink the 36 and to hell with fogging it first!

LOL! Yeah, I've had those moments, too. JUST GIMME THE NIC!!!!!!!
Vt Vapor does have samples, but with a flat rate of $6 for shipping I either order one or two of my "tried and trues" like Tobacco, vanilla or cafe au lait, and a few samples, or a whole bunch of samples at once.

(Nothing like the stinky plasticky "new car" smell I get from some of Juicy's stuff. Their 555 (Juicy's) is still pretty much unvapable as far as I'm concerned.)
Remember though- I was raised in the SouthWest, and now live in the Northwest, so cedar smoke to me is almost as familiar as air. *lol* the only thing more so now is alder, with which we NW'ers smoke everything from salmon to tomatoes to .... whatever's laying around the fridge when the smoker's running. Kathy at Apprentice sent me a sample of Hickory smoke flavoring, but I fear that stuff. Last spring, I leaned over too close when I was pulling the top off the smoker, and without even realizing it at first, got a lung full of hot hickory smoke & fumes. You know- that invisible shit the firemen are always warned about. Scorched my pipes pretty good. By nightfall I was in agony and could barely speak, let alone sing, and I had gigs booked up for months- no time to heal... it was a long, painful summer.

| Hmmm..."New Car". Now, there's a flavor I would like!
Of course, then again, my old Subaru has a very distinct (but pleasant) old car smell. You know, where everything kind of blends together, the seats, floor, and has kind of a leather/cloth smell with a tinge of gasoline? That would be pretty good...

Fabulously retro scent. Love that stuff. Quote:

I'm getting nostalgic just imagining that. It's a comfy, homey kinda smell. It's the smell of a long road trip on Rt 66. Flash was in fact born along Rt. 66.

What's not to like? | Yep- I was born retro, and had to grow into it. I think everyone has an age they were born to be, and we spend our lives reaching that point. Then if we're lucky (and smart,) we just sorta stay that age forever.
