I just received this in an email, so with the driveway and sidewalks and street again blocked with snow for so many of you and most schools closed and a temperature of below freezing all week, we need to dream about fishing and summer! Dream with a smile:

A Jack Daniels Fishing Story

I went fishing this morning but after a short time I ran out of worms. Then I saw a cottonmouth with a frog in his mouth. Frogs are good bass bait.

Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket.

Now the dilemma was how to release the snake without getting bit. So, I grabbed my bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little whiskey in its mouth.

His eyes rolled back, he went limp. I released him into the lake without
incident and carried on fishing using the frog.

A little later, I felt a nudge on my foot.

There was that same snake with two frogs in his mouth.

Odd... I've encountered several cottonmouths and none of them were friendly enough or careless enough to come near me intentionally. Interesting story though. I wonder how that snake felt in the morning.

I used to use a path through a field in Florida for a short cut to town when we'd go on vacation there...

Until the guy who owned the place told me is was FULL of Copperheads...

My grandfather lived in Rye, CO for a while and he told me about a place called Rattlesnake Hill. Aptly-named as the hill was covered in what used to be badger holes, but now it's filled with the sounds of a hundred rattles (or so he told me).
