| Hi everyone! I've bought my last pack of analog cig's on 3/2/2011 (my daughters 18th Birthday) and after scrounging & smoking my last old stale butt on 3/5 and ready to go buy another $8.00 pack, I stopped at the mall and bought a Green Smoke starter kit and haven't put a butt to my mouth since!!!
I have never used a fourm before and have a few questions but not sure how to go about asking questions & finding answers/replies.
Can someone Please fill me in on the workings of the way to do so.
I will look for a reply to this post and hopefully answer my own question, but tried earlier with still no clue.
I'd greatly appreciate if someone could email me and provide me with a short rundown on how to proceed. deleted by mod..
Thanks so much,

| Haha, well, first thing is "Welcome to the forum!" Number 2: you should click on the "EDIT" button in that post, and remove your email address from that post, or change it to something like mrqimover "at" yahoo or something like that. Spammers use programs to trawl for email addresses posted on forums or social networks, and that (supposedly) helps a little. No sense making it easy on them.
Also, there is a "Private Message" system set up here, as in most other forums, where you can send/receive private messages from other members. The default settings on your account preferences are probably set so you get an email when someone responds to anything you've posted.
You can ask any e-cig related question you like in the E-Cigarette General Discussion section. If you manage to post something in the wrong section, it's not a big deal, someone will let you know. This place is pretty relaxed.
Congrats on the not smoking! Not everyone does so well at first. Don't give up if you fall off the wagon. Some people quit immediately, some (like me) take months to quit. Others have even more problems. There is a lot of good info scattered around, and quite a few people that know a bit about e-cigs. Ask away! |

Thanks so much, | Howdy! Chances are we probably already have answers for most of your questions, so if your reply largely contains links to other threads here, don't be surprised. Also, most of us have been around the block together a few thousand times. If you notice the thread going off-topic, we're pretty much all friends, so it may get a little silly. If you need more questions answered though, we'll be sure to help as soon as we can, after we're done chatting up the resident vixens.

| I like to thank you all for the very warm welcome and a special thanks to qasimod for taking care of my email blunder. As far as the chatting up the resident vixens. Im all for that, I'm just your everyday normal perv myself. Just like the guy with great job Im also have a similar profession as a bodywork/massage therapist .
I feel like I need to share my e cig experience with anyone thinking of giving them a try.
1st thing is I honestly thought I'd NEVER be able to quit smoking with out being put in a coma and locked up somewhere. I've smoked my 1st cig at (Not Kidding!!!) age 7. Granted at age we were just a couple of children stealing cigs from our parents and hiding out in our little cubby holes just puffing on them and not inhaling, none the less still fascinated and hooked. By age 10 I was a full smoker, and by 14 smoking at least a pack a day. Now at 43 on March 3rd. I was at easily at 2 and a half -3 packs a day and spending about $850.00 -$900.00 a month (a house payment or a really really nice car).
and was able to justify that by looking at the way I would feel and act when I would try to quit.
I am a gentile, caring & healing man, but as soon as the nicotine withdraw would start to kick in I became a incredible angry, violent & destruct full (punching walls) kind of person and I would rather be sick and poor than act and feel like that.
Thats why I've only tried to quit a few times. 1st was cold turkey, and I have zero, no, nadda, zilch, willpower. I was at the store within 2hrs. Then came the patch that left a giant blister on my skin. Next was the gum, that because of my oral fixation I almost chewed myself into a heart attack (same thing with snus) and lastly was chantex ie sicko maker. Gave that a try for about a week (smoking the whole time).
That was about 5yrs ago and figured Id be removing my oxygen mask to drag on my smoke soon.
So what led my to try quit this time you ask?
It was my daughter. Though she had always be on my case about smoking, she was about to turn 18 and (To make long story less long) I was hurt and out on disability , only making 1/2 of what were use to and couldn't really afford a gift worthy (in my eyes) of my child becoming a adult.
That led me to think what would be a great sentimental gift.
So with her being an athlete and being disgusted with me and the whole smoking thing I figured I'd give quiting 1 last try. Though I warned her about the way I was affected by the withdraws, she said that would be the greatest gift of her life if I was able to quit. Though honestly neither one of us thought it was possible .
So I've bought my last pack of analog cig's on 3/2/2011 (my daughters 18th Birthday) and after scrounging & smoking my last old stale butt on 3/5 and ready to go buy another $8.00 -$9.00 pack, I stopped at the mall and bought a Green Smoke starter kit and haven't put a butt to my mouth since!!!
The way my daughter looks at me with pride and the way she'll give me a hug, (witch would only be a very quick distant, barely touching hug when begged for 1 pre ecigs) has made it so very VERY much worth it! I'm just sorry I didn't know about ecigs sooner.
So needless to say that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone thinking about quiting smoking analog cigs to try ecigs!!!
I (with out a doubt) would of never been able to give my daughter the best gift she had ever received from me!!!
I hope this little story can slightly encourage someone to quit smoking!!!
Thanks & Good Luck!!!
P.S. Money Saved, 8x4x37= $1184.00 -$89 for the kit and about $100 in e juice with pleanty left. WOW!!!!!!

| Yep, great story, it sounds almost identical to mine: first puff age 6, pack a day age 15, next thing I knew I was 46, smoking 3 packs of Kool Filter Kings a day (except for all-nighters, when I smoked 4+). I could literally feel those things killing me, but I couldn't quit. An early, painful, horrible death was just a part of my overall world-view. It was just something I expected, and couldn't do anything about. I finally gave up on quitting one day when was driving my truck, wearing a patch on each arm, chewing the gum, and using a Nicotrol Inhaler... all the while wanting a cigarette. I had so much nicotine in my system I was sick, nauseous, seeing spots, and I still wanted a freaking smoke! Unbelievable.
I saw an NJoy kit in a truckstop, thought, "What the heck?", and gave it a shot. It was awful, but I could see the potential. I bought 3 or 4 more of those crap kits before I decided to do some Googling, and here I am! Haven't smoked in 18 months, but more importantly, I don't crave cigarettes! I don't feel like an ex-smoker, constantly jonesing for a cigarette. I feel like a non-smoker! It's almost as if I never smoked at all. People smoke around me all the time, it doesn't make me want one at all. It just stinks (but I've promised myself that I won't turn into a cigarette Nazi, so I put up with it).
As a truly heavy smoker, you may become annoyed with changing those batteries all the time. If it gets to be too much to handle, consider what we call a "big battery mod". There are a ton of people making and selling them online, and I've tried a bunch of them. My e-cig budget is huge, because I used to smoke so much. That means it's not a big hardship to try new stuff.
I'm not a seller, or affiliated with any sellers, and I don't mean to shill, but here's my current favorite PV: AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Omega - OmeGa - Starter Kits
It uses a sub-$10 battery that will last you (yes even you) all day long.

| You done good,Mover. I started at 11 and racked up(hacked up?) over 50 years of cigarettes before I found vaping.
You've got a great story to tell, thank you for sharing it with us.

That certainly was a moving story Mover! It's always good to hear about how much this technology has benefited folks. I didn't have nearly as many reasons for quitting as you have, but I too have never felt better since my introduction to tobacco. Please check out the Crash Course into Vaping if you have a chance. I'll learn ya sir!

I just gota say that the Crash Course Into Vapeing was more informative than going to the Philly Vape Fest for me.
Granted I was only able to make it there for the last half of the last day.
After spending about 20-30 hrs or so reading forums, web sites and watching youtube videos trying to find a better alternative to the Green Smoke battery I (at 2:30 am that Saturday) StumbleUpon a site advertising the vape fest. I grew up in South Phily and now live in Brigantine, South Jersey, only 40 min. away and all was good.
I met alot of really good people with tones of knowledge ,but only had a few hr. to sort things out.
What you did by writing all that info will save so many people from there brains oozing out of there ears from vape info overload .
GREAT JOB & THANKS!!!!! |

GREAT JOB & THANKS!!!!! | Heh, wow, thank you! I'm all in favor of finding and exercising improvement. The problem for me was that there wasn't really a definitive guide for folks to learn what they really needed to know. There's also a guide on ECF, and while it too contains a lot of information, I feel that it's excruciatingly long, gobbledygook in many areas, and a bit of an eye sore to scour through for what you want to know. Besides, as much as I like the ECF, it's just too impersonal. There's not a lot of interpersonal relations. The data is brought to you per question en mass and everyone has an opinion that discredits the previous response. That's why this is my home.
The Vape Fest was probably a good idea though, as one can generally find the same items they'd buy online, but at a discounted price, and with immediate (though more limited) supply. Talking to someone about all they'll need to know to be a responsible vaper is like watching CSPAN. The information is there, but the average person outside of the industry can barely make heads or tails of it. Even if you were to take notes the whole time, they'd be unorganized for sure, and that'd more likely encourage you to toss the notes and light an analog. At least, that's how I felt when I started initially.
I didn't get all this information overnight, and I surely didn't acquire this knowledge without the help of many people (mostly on this forum). I've learned more from the engineers, electricians, chefs, and chemists in the industry in the past year or so than I learned in college in two and a half years. There's a lot of trial and error (plenty of errors), but everyone's trying to find ways to improve what they have and are generous about helping others enter. Few industries these days have that level of open communication amongst veterans and newcomers.
