Hello Everyone,
I found this site searching about the E-Cigg's. I have had my setup for about 9 days now and still learning. I was looking the site over and i have a few questions if you could help me out. First of all i smoke analog Newport 100's and was at 2 packs a day. I bought my E-Cigg at a local store and found a site were i could of bought it half price. Doing research i bought the starter kit called Kanger KR808-D1. With it i bought a 5 pack of cartridges of menthol 18mg i went back and bought what would be marbs at 24mg. I like the marbs better maybe because they are stronger and i think taste better yet im a menthol smoker. They say these are suppose to equal 1 pack of butts however i get the burnt taste after probably 100 puffs. I did read about taking drags here and notice the diffrence after fillimg up the mouth then inhailing and thats so much better. Slow easy puffs instead of straight inhailing hard. I hope this will make my cartridge last longer without the burnt taste. My question about my kit is the following. I read at a lot of places i have one of the top picks that a lot of people seem to like and easier as a 2 piece unit. I see alot of people here use the 3 piece set. Is the 3 part one better for vapor? I seem to get alot of vapor now with the correct drag with mine. I just need the 24mg cartridge i think because it is stronger and thats the strongest the store carries but i going to place a order online and save $4.00 per 5 pack. Seems like i got ripped at the store but lesson learned. I was going to get some catridges that were 38mg but they are allready sold out. So my next question would be can i buy some of that Juice for my 2 part toss out cartridge and refill it? Thant would be nice and save me a little more cash. I find myself taking alot of puffs one after the other sometimes and yet when its a fresh charge and cartridge a few puffs and im good for a hour. Any help about this 2 piece unit and what i can do with it to save money and enjoy vaporing would be greatly appreciated! I look forward to reading and learning more and talking with everyone!! Thank You

Hello wbandy..welcome to the forum..there's lot of experienced vapers here happy to give you advice to help you out on all things vaping
first off considering where your at cartridges are definatley refillable..thats the first thing you need to do is find some juice to refill...there are tons of good suppliers here...
Im not totally clear on if you are using a cartomiser (2 piece) or a 3 piece atomizer and filler cartridge or not..either way both are refillable with your own juice...
about juices..there are hundreds of flavors and suppliers..I'll let others make recommendations for those..Le Cig or eliquid planet in the supplier section carries 808 compatible stuff so that may be a good start for you for cartos (cartomisers) initially anyway...
That burnt taste your getting is from the carto drying out..needs more juice...they are disposable but reusable many times so dont throw them out...they can be refilled as well as cleaned and reused numerous times...
as far as a carto being equal to a pack..not hardly...thats a major misnomer in the industry...more like 4 or 5 cigarettes at best..that being said it will vary greatly with the equipment
I would love to give you a one paragraph response to tell you the best of everything but its way more complicated then that...my advice is to hang around and learn and ask...thats your best bet to finding your vaping stride..

First and foremost: Welcome to the community. We're glad to see you here.

2 piece vs. 3 piece, a matter of taste and personal choice. The 3 piece unit does let you pull the cartridge off and drip your juice directly into the atomiser. Almost all cartridges can be refilled with the juice of your choice, but some are easier to fill than others.

Someone else can discuss the ins and outs of the 808's to you, I went a different route and don't know that much about them.

It sounds like you are outrunning the cartridge, trying to draw out the juice faster than it wants to wick down to the atomizer and getting a 'dry hit'. I had this problem with my first 'looks like a cigarette' device, short of refilling, you can remove the cartomizer, set it on its threaded end and screw in another cartomizer. After a while the juice in the first one will spread into the depleted area and you can get a few more good puffs out of it.

spend some time exploring the forums, you might also like to go see one of the "TV" channels devoted to vaping, ElixirTV.com, has a community of friendly helpful and only slightly deranged people that can give you instant answers to most of your questions.

And again, Welcome

As a former menthol smoker, I can say that you may not care much about it when you vape. Also, some people that hate menthol cigarettes actually like to vape the stuff. You can also make your own menthol drops to add to any juice for dirt cheap, less than $10 for a years' supply. Here's a recent discussion about it:
Menthol Crystals how to?

Like Pleidius said, it sounds like you're vaping more than the cartridge can keep up with. That, and the fact you like the higher mg Marlbro makes me think you should try higher mg. It will slow you down so the cart can keep up better. All juice is interchangeable with all systems, and you can mix them together as you like.

If you're curious about the 3-piece units, you can buy an adapter ($1 or $2) and strap one of them on the battery you already have, and check it out.

Don't sweat the high price of your store-bought kit, most of us went that route at first. Of course online vendors are cheaper, they have less overhead. Heck, I bought 3 kits just for myself before it dawned on me to Google around a bit. I don't begrudge them the money, it was more than worth it for getting me to try ecigs.

Buy as many different brands and flavors of juice as you can comfortably afford. It won't go bad for a couple years, and the stuff you hate can be saved by adding menthol.

There are also lots of DIY options, both for mixing your own juice and building your own ecigs, but you should probably get familiar with the commercial stuff first. Good luck, welcome, and ask lots of questions! Most of us don't sell anything, and the ones that do won't steer you wrong just to make a couple bucks off of you. Buncha good folks around here (but keep your eye on that Dhileas character, he's about a half-bubble out of plumb).

Thank You for the reply and a pleasure to be part of the community. This is going to make me healthier and save me some money too over the analog's. I am so suprised what i have been missing out on. I will be using my E-Cigg for a long time to come and will become a regular to your forums. I have the Cigg that is a 2 piece unit. It has the heater and nicotine in one cartridge and then all i have to do is screw on a new one and thats it. I do think i am out smoking it and 5 to 7 ciggs sounds about right deffinatly not a pack. I am going to buy some juice so i hope it's easy to refill. I might even invest in another type unit next month but this one does produce me plenty vapor but the cartr runs out quick. In 9 days i think i have gone through about 15 of them and will start saving them now. I will do some more reading and check that tv place out. Thank You for the welcome! I wondering about the juice as mentioned in the first post i smoked newport 100's but found the marbs to be better but the cart was stronger for the reg flavor. Anyone smoke menthol and if so would going from 16 to 24mg be a noticable diffrence? Thank You

Just so happens Im a big menthol person my self..like quasi said check out the menthol crystals how too link in his post for a great tip..
Your doing pretty good if your only 2 cartos in a day from 2 packs..I was a pack a day Salem ultra lights 100s myself for 30 years up until 8 months ago...the nic quantity does make a huge difference to me at least 18 wasn't getting it for me so I pretty much stayed at 24..better throat hit for me but equipment variations can and will change that drastically...
I find my self using about 2-3 ml of 24 now were as before at 18 it was 3-4 so you do adjust yourself for the most part IMHO..
I am currently using a blend from Vapor Renu and Myst Masters with my own menthol additive to boost the menthol..Ive also recently added a mint flavor from cigeasy that is very pleasant too..once you start playing around with flavors and mixes theres no going back..

I smoked Kool Filter Kings for 30+ years, 3 or more packs per day there towards the end. Can't stand 'em now, I haven't smoked since a couple days after Christmas '09, nearly 18 months ago. Zero desire to do so, either!

Going from 18 to 24 mg is definitely noticable.

LoL you posted as i was typing out my reply. It sounds like getting Juice is going to help me out alot and stop over smoking my cartridge. I just was not sure if i could refill a toss out cartridge with the heater and juice in one. LoL i forgot the word but i will get it in a day or two i know there not called cartridges. I think i want to get newport and marlboro in a higher MG. What strength is the question. I going to look and see what they carry in a bit. TYVM

I have to laugh a little about the analog flavor reference..I did the same thing early on..thats going to mean nothing as you get into it more and try a whole bunch of different stuff over time...you'll end up with a box of different stuff within a few months and a good bit of it you'll hate "it sounded soo good on the website" LOL we've all "been there done that got the T shirt" already...
and then wait till you get tired of that short battery life and start looking for something a whole lot less cigarette like with a battery able to go all day with no problems...
Just sayin....

Welcome to the loony bin! If you have the opportunity, I'd recommend checking out the Crash Course into Vaping for a rundown on terminology and such.

Yeah, like Berger said, the battery that will last. That's the thing. Most of us get tired of charging the little cig like batteries and having to keep 2-3 charging so you don't go dead while Jonesing for nicotine. The elusive cigarette tasting juice is another issue. Just try several different ones, maybe modify some yourself, and don't believe the "tastes just like an analog" hype. It doesn't. But you will find some you really like and then wonder why you'd want to taste an analog again.

Wow this is a busy forum here. I am taking everything in and going to do the research. As far as flavors go as of now i am going to get menthol and reg cigg stuff. I do not think i will be into flavors like coffee and peach and so on. Who knows what the future is going to bring tho. As far as my batterys go i got the two and use each one once a day and one batt takes a bad charge and the store is going to replace for me, But on average of the good one it lasts atleast 6 to 8 hours i would say.

LOL! I remember saying that about flavors too. Then LeCig sent me a free Apple sample. Now I'm hooked on Apple, blueberry, peach, RY4 and the like.

I think most of us wanted a burning paper and vegetation flavor initially, but found out how good some flavors really taste. Glad to hear you get that much time out of your batteries. I can't get more than an hour out of one, cause I chain vape like a fiend.

If you like menthol, I'll bet you will like vanilla-menthol and/or blueberry-menthol! I recently added some menthol and a smidge of ethyl maltol and sucrose to a mix of RY3, Persian Slipper and Delicate Pipe, and it's pretty darn good. I wish I had paid more attention to the amounts, so I could do it again.

A local guy here puts just a tiny bit of menthol in one of his tobacco blends. It is my favorite juice. He wants to grow slow, so he doesn't want any advertisement yet, but I hope he gets on this board soon. $12/30ml. It is really good stuff. Never thought I'd like anything with menthol, but it has a coolness to it, and I like it.

If it's an 808 kit, LeCig is the place to go IMO. No shipping costs and the customer service is terrific.

LeCig is a great place! And you won't find better customer service anywhere. Since you're using 808-D1 Mike's stuff will be compatible for you. try the mega- cartos. I don't think it will be long before you buy a PigCig900. I love mine - but I'm really anxious for that 1300 whatever he's going to name it to get there along with the 3ml cartomizers. You won't regret becoming one of his customers.

BTW, welcome to the boards! (I've only been vaping since Oct 25th and not one analog since the day I got my kit)
