But there's a lot of beginners in here that like visual examples and this schematic covers a basic 5V mod very nicely!
Its lay-out is what's most important, cuz it basically shows beginners the "guts" of a battery box mod....a very nice VISUAL example! |

| Here's about as "EASY" as it gets:
I recently acquired (3) of these boxes.
This is an old Cisco mod that he never did disclose the source of where to find the enclosure. Cisco made this shortly after disclosing his famous laser mod, 2 or 3 years ago....before VV was mainstream! And YES....there's room for a regulator, a mosfet and even charging circuit! But it'll be a tight squeeze....
It's pretty much a no-brainer, 3.7V mod as is! All it needs is a battery connector and (3) 10440 batts and you've got a powerful little pocket mod!! Its even got a nice little heavy spring belt clip on the back of it so it's easy to carry and you won't drop it or lose it. Got these for experimentation purposes and as a back-up....cool huh?
And YES, I have the source!

| And for those of you that want to build Cisco's Laser mod, using his step-by-step tutorial??
You'll either have to send me an e-mail or have a moderator tell me how to upload a pdf file in here....??
This was the second mod that I built and I must say that it was quite difficult, but only because I didn't have a drill press and had to use a Dremel tool instead.
The tutorial is flawless in its simplicity and shown exceptionally well, complete with pictures, tools needed, where to solder, what to discard, etc....
When complete, the mod is virtually indestructible! However, the tactile switch inside wasn't meant for a 3.7V battery and will fail in a very short period of time. And once it dies, the whole mod is JUNK and it cannot be repaired.
MAJOR BUMMER!!
If the Laser housing itself were threaded, this would be an exceptional mod for anyone and could be easily repaired. But unfortunately, the original designers of the Laser made the housing a press-fit connection. So once your mod is fully complete, it cannot be disassembled without causing immense damage to the chrome plating of the housing and the circuit board inside. It finishes one hell of a beautiful mod though!!

A very simple picture schematic of a 3-cell AA 5 volt battery box mod.
It shows (2) 14500 batts in series, a fixed 5V voltage regulator (not VV), a small piece of stripboard (aka Perf Board), (1) capacitor, (2) resistors, an LED, a pushbutton switch, a battery connector, black & red wires (aka 'leads') and of course the 3-cell AA battery box with an on/off master switch! I know how much all of you ANGELS in here need "visual assistance" to get excited!
However, this is probably not the mod you'll want to build as it is not variable voltage. And since you're going to be soldering a similar design anyways, why not go for a VV mod instead!?
(And I can't remember who I stole this from, so if the designer shows up and this schematic is proprietary, I'll remove it...pronto!) | Oh yeah! I see! Now I get it! |

Look at it this way.
Its kinda like a puzzle....I don't know how they're made, but I'm smart enough to piece everything together to see the big picture!
That's what this "visual" is intended to satisfy. To provide you with enough knowledge to be able to recreate and/or build a 5V box mod without any "hands-on" assistance. You will have to learn a few things, though....if you're willing?
Of course, if none of this interests you, than its all a moot point anyway! But if you ARE interested in building your own VV mods, then I'm here to help you in any way that I can Angel. Not just gonna leave ya hangin' in the clouds all by yourself.....

| Gifts for the ladies....
Those of you that would like make the 10440 Silver Box mod, sign-up for a drawing IN HERE and acknowledge your interest.
I will do a random drawing on your 1st posting number, after this notification, in one week from today.
The winner will get the 10440 Silver Box and a brief instructional on how to build the mod.
