Hey guys. I just got my first e-cig last week. I went with V2cigs. I went online and I've been learning everything I can about vaping now. I also read a lot of posts and blogs and watched a lot of videos about ways to refill your cartomizers. So I bought a few different e-liquids from a local store and decided to attempt to refill 2 of my used cartomizers.

I just cleaned and refilled 2 of my V2cigs kr-808 cartomizers. I cleaned them by dropping them in boiling water for about 10 minutes and rinsing them and leaving them to dry overnight. I filled each one the next morning with a different S.S. Choice Brand No. 7 e-liquid by using the popular condom fill technique seen online. I filled the condom only halfway then slowly pushed the atomizer end of the cart down into the condom. I blew out any excess liquid and screwed it onto my battery. I can taste each flavor but I'm not getting any vapor out of it or I'm getting very little vapor. I can still get a good hit out of the pre-filled cartos from V2 but these refills aren't really hitting very well. Like I said I can only get a tiny bit of vapor.

Now after trying to get some kind of vapor out of one of the cartos (the tobacco flavor) I'm starting to get a bit more but it's just kinda burning my throat a little.

Also, I'm hearing a crackling sound as I take a hit. I read on the forums that that can happen if it's either too dry or too wet. From what I've seen on all the videos, you should be able to hit a refilled cartomizer right away.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Sounds like its somewhat flooded. Blow out the carts from the mouth end and let them drain standing up right for a little while. Unless you remove the top and look down inside its hard to tell if you over filled them or not. The straw portion in the middle is where the atty coil is and its easy to over fill and flood that way. It should clear up after some use too. Could also have some residual water in the also and then they wont want to vape much at all if any.

Good tips. Thanks. I think I might take the cap off and try dripping it in next time and making sure to get only the sides. That way I can also keep an eye on how much I'm putting in.

Kennesaw! I lived there with my Uncle for a short while (kind of, he lived way out in the woods).

I can't offer much help, I never did get the hang of cartos. I even tried some of the new CE2 kind, no joy.

Cleaning? they're $1.75! Why bother? at 10 days, that's .175 cents a day. I'm frugal, but not that frugal! Timewise it "costs" me $7 to clean them!

Mtdtim- whats up man. I also went through v2 cigs. There carts suck to clean. The best way to reuse them is let them run out of flavor and add the new flavor in. Dry hit it like 10times so you don't get that mix taste( dont inhale, blow smoke rings or something) and let the new flavor settle in. Then refill them again with like 5 drops and u'll be good to go. Or buy v2 blanks. They last a long time. And dont do the condom method, it works but you'll flood them and you cant unflood them less u clean them and thats a hassle. What starter pack did you go with?

first welcome to the forums,
and second, i would buy a unfilled pack of cartomizers, maby boge <thats what i use> and maby low resistance, for ya. then when they come in pop the tops off and drip on to the filling until it is evenly wet..

but to reuse what ya have, maby fill them next time with a syringe, about 1 mil worth of juice. a lil easyer then the condom method..

Never tried it. Seems to me it would be quite a mess.

I just fill them with a syringe, and then drip onto the filler during the day. For the CE2s I just fill them once in the AM and drip onto the coil when they start to run low.

I went with the standard kit with the congress flavor although I'm not enjoying it all that much so I ordered a sampler pack from v2. Hopefully I can find a flovor I enjoy more, then I can just keep ordering those carts as well as some empty ones so I can try other flavors they don't offer.

I was looking for other sites to buy the blank KR808 cartomizers from that might be a better deal than V2, but most of the sites I come across only carry the 5-10. Does anyone know of a site that has a good deal on blank KR808 cartomizers? Thanks.

And thanks for the advice and warm welcomes everyone.

The 808 blanks are kind of expensive for whatever reason. Ive seen Them go for $15 for a 5 pack, but ive also seen them as cheap as 6 bucks a 5 pack. It really kind of depends how much your looking to spend. Also you can look into the 901 Atomizers. Makes the 808 a 3 piece but no hassles with buying carts every couple of days/ months. Im waiting on my shipment so i dont exactly know how well it works. But i can let u know by the end of this week. But your honesly better off with v2 blanks.. Use this code for an additional 10% off your purchase (ecigadvanced).

Joye eGo | Joye 510 | Electronic Cigarette supplies Tulsa | Batteries, atomizers, cartomizers, e-Liquid and more!
^ vaporkings.com sells kr808d-1 battery's half the price of v2, AND work better. They have a 10 second cutoff switch, some even have 20 sec cutoff switchs.

Stritlyejuice.com sells $7 blank cartos for the 808. Go to this link to check it out:

KR808D1- 5 Pack Cartomizer
^ My vaporstore.com $7.45 a pack PRE-FILLED.

You can also do a google search for kr808d-1 cartomizers. That will list every possible source and price.

Yeah, you can't go wrong with Mike. His prices may be an eensy bit higher than others, but his customer service is MILES above any other place. He is a really good guy, too.

Thanks for the links! Yeah V2 also gave me a code for 15%off that is good until the end of March. I figure I'll wait till the sample pack comes this week, try all the flavors, then order a pack of my favorites as well as some blanks with my discount. From what I've read some V2 users really enjoy the Cowboy flavor. Not sure why I went with Congress over that. Although, everyone keeps saying not to keep searching for a tobacco flavor that tastes like the real thing. You'll never find it. The recent bottle of juice I got tastes more like chocolate than tobacco. I'm just going to keep trying all kinds of flavors and find something new I like.

Berger- v2 is an 808d1 model. I only went with them because of the discount and because of the 1 year warranty. Comes very handy.

Mt- V2 flavors suck. They all gave me a really bad stomach ache. Menthol is the only good tasting one. As well as peppermint. I personally like the fruit, candy, and drink flavors. It makes smoking a little more fun and great tasting. Better than tasting tobacco thats for sure. But your welcome for the links. And yea just keep trying different juices, ull find one u love eventually.

It's hard to talk about flavors, it's so subjective. I like UN-flavored, but I didn't at first. I also like really sweet candy flavors, some have even described them as "sickly sweet". I turned a couple of noob friends onto "Atomic Cinnacide" from tastyvapor.us and they loved it, it tastes like that hot cinnamon hard candy (Atomic Fireball, etc.)... Trouble is, they just vaped it exclusively until all the other flavors were so weak they could barely taste them (so don't do that).

Some flavors that are horrid become pretty nice if you dilute them a bit, or add another flavor. Unfortunately, mixing juice flavors isn't intuitive like mixing food or drinks... You have no idea how it's going to turn out. I buy the zero nic, $15 for 4 oz. (about 120 mL) "Doublers" of AC and TV Butter Rum from Tasty Vapor, and add my own 100 mg. unflavored nic to it. That lightens up the flavor to how I like it, and I use all-VG nic mix because I'm a little "sensitive" to PG, and he doesn't do all-VG mixes.

Another option is to check out myfreedomsmokes.com, if you find a flavor you like, he sells in bulk (BIG bottles). I love his DK TAB (it's a nice tobacco flavor), and now that he has it in all-VG I'm going to try some. If i like it, I'll buy a big jug. (That is also the place I buy my 100 mg. unflavored, for mixing. MAKE SURE to do plenty of reading and ask for some experienced help before you play around with 100 mg nic, it can be dangerous stuff.)

Good points Quasi, another great reason you should never get rid of a juice, even if you may not like it as it is. Lots of times Ive been able to add a little of something that I wouldn't vape otherwise and improved something else to my tastes.

Thanks, berger... Also, don't be afraid to experiment. Most people just try one thing, and if that doesn't work, they try the same thing a few more times then give up. Just know that almost every aspect of vaping can be adjusted or tweaked to your liking, you just have to figure out what you like:
Nicotine amount
Flavor
Amount of vapor
"Throat hit"
Battery life
Refilling frequency
Cost
Amount of "fiddling with stuff"

All of that can be adjusted. You're on week #2 of vaping now, so your main concern should be finding the nicotine level that works for you, and a couple of flavors you like. All that other stuff will come later.

It may seem crazy expensive right now, but that's just because you haven't found your "groove" yet. Once you find exactly what works for you, it gets pretty darn cheap compared to the (for me) 3 packs of smokes I was buying per day. I can buy a month's supply of stuff for less than what a week used to cost. That leaves a lot of budget left over for trying new things every now and then.

Everything Quasi says is right. In addition, I've noticed that there is a certain evolution in vaping, e.g. at first I was happy with old-fashioned cartomizers, regular batts, etc. as time went by I tried big batts, CE2's, dripping, lots of different things, at about 6 months in I am using mostly dripping on a big batt with a 510 Atty, but there are still lots of things I haven't tried and my choices may change further. I know I went back to some of the original cartomizers I was using earlier this week, and I couldn't believe I'd ever liked them, it felt like sucking through wet cotton, the flavors from dripping or CE2's are so much better.
