Okay, so I'm too impatient. Rob at The Kick It Stick upgraded my order to Priority Shipping (for free!) but I went down and bought an e-cig locally anyway. Monday is just too far away.

I bought an RN4072 advertised as "from the makers of NJoy" (no indication anywhere of a brand or anything). One of the batteries stays lit after taking a drag (will get it exchanged tomorrow), but the other one seems to be working just fine.

I impatiently charged the batteries, then eagerly tried vaping for the first time. Wow, I was impressed. Definitely not a cigarette, but it satisfied all my cravings just the same ... for about 5 minutes. Took a few more drags and again was satisfied, but still wanting an analog. I didn't so much want a cigarette, just wanted the act of smoking.

I'm used to stepping out and taking a 10-minute smoke break. A couple of drags from this e-cig takes less than a minute and leaves me satisfied ... except for feeling like I just got cheated out of 9 minutes of my break!

So out I stepped, pack of stinks in hand. Lit one up and had to look to make sure I lit the right end ... it just didn't taste right. Everything was fine, so I continued trying to enjoy my break. About half way through the smoke, I was done. It just wasn't doing it for me. It tasted wrong, made my throat feel raspy ... and made me feel like I was doing something bad - sneaking out and hiding around the corner, felt like I might get caught!

Back inside, I was still wanting a smoke. Pulled out the e-cig, took a couple drags, and was good.

This was the 24mg cartridge. I'm swapping to the 16mg now and will see if it takes any longer to get my fix. My mind is racing too ... gotta get some of that apple stuff ... ooh, and the coffee too. As soon as I figure out the right strength, I'm afraid I'll spend more money on flavors than I do on analogs!

Thank you all for being here ... it's your posts that inspired me to change my life.

Day 2, vaping still feels odd but I haven't wanted an analog all day. I came across the 1/2 pack I have left and lit one up "just to see." I was disappointed. It was like smoking an herbal cigarette ... didn't taste right, didn't feel right, didn't smell right. On top of it all, it felt like a total waste of 10 minutes.

How is it that vaping totally took over my addiction in less than a day? I'm not complaining ... getting more snuggles and luvin from my family, feels like I have more time to do important things (like snugglin and luvin), and I feel better. Okay, so I'm probably just optimistic about feeling better, but I'm still very happy with my investment.

I must say though, I'm disappointed with the apple flavor cartridges. They only taste like apple if I get a "bad drag" from my e-cig. If I get some good vapor, it tastes more like the "regular flavor" cartridge with just a hint of something else. I like it ... was just expecting more apple.

godling,
IMMEDIATELY order some liquid, even if just 10 to 15ml. Order today and you can probably have it by Wednesday. You will go through your cartridges (puff on a dry cart and kill an atomizer) in no time at all. Pick a vendor and make a small order. Larger quantities and minimal shipping charges from most vendors will reduce the cost of vaping, but you will be in a pickle if you use up all your carts and don't have any juice. Don't worry about which flavor at first just get some.
Enjoy, Rocket

I have just recently started vaping and have spent about a half years worth of analog cigarettes in e type cigs that I wasn't happy with .. I have the Screwdriver ordered in hopes that will be my last one [ for a while anyway ..]

Right now I am using my FIRST purchase, the NJOYPro .. Tried adding some vanilla juice to their vanilla cartridge .. I guess I am far from being a pro at this .. got a bunch on my lips. YUK ..

Also tried the Smoke51 - built in atomizer. Great hit, great vanilla flavor - HORRIBLE batteries. I have 3 of them, none will take a charge. It has only been a month, customer service wouldn't answer my emails .. Gonna throw them away.

Then I spent another $100 ++ on the Titan with the charging case. It doesn't come with any charger. Just usbs to connect to your case. Never got to smoke on the Titan, the case didn't work .. the lid wouldn't stay shut. Tried a hair tie to keep it closed, but the cigs still wouldn't charge. Sent all of it back and then wrote to tell them my stuff was on the way back. Asked if they would just send something totally different. They said no, just a replacement.. I won't even open the box, I think I will just unload it on eBay . . Hope I can write an auction without saying what a huge disappointment this purchase was ..

Rocketman - thank you for the suggestion. I didn't think about a dry cartridge causing problems, but it totally makes sense. I'm expecting a delivery tomorrow with 2 10ml bottles of juice, as well as a 901.

How easy is it to burn out an atomizer? I tried taking a drag earlier and it didn't work. Tried 3 or 4 more times before I thought to check, and sure enough, it was dry. It's still working, but is this the type of situation I should avoid?

Day 3, had a bit of a panic attack today. Lost my e-cig! It fell out of my pocket while I was loading up the truck to go help my brother. I didn't notice until I was pulling out of the driveway though. After re-tracing my steps 3 times with no luck, my wife suggested I go buy a pack of stinks from the store.

"You don't understand! That's my new toy that's laying on the ground somewhere!"

I was stressed and needed something to calm down and think things through. So, what did I do? I spent the next hour looking everywhere I could think of until I finally found it. I then puffed away until my head was spinning.

I think the strangest thing was that smoking an analog wasn't really even an option in my mind. I don't smoke anymore ... I vape. I'm definitely glad that I bought this one - the one I ordered should be here tomorrow and I'll have a backup. Impatience pays off once again!

My brother was understanding about me being an hour late. He didn't care for the e-cig, but was adequately impressed by the technology.

As I re-read my post, I wonder to myself ... is there an e-cig anonymous group somewhere?

Day 4, my 901 arrived with a couple bottles of juice today. I must say, I'm impressed with The Kick It Stick. Rob really went the extra mile for me. My only disappointment was learning that the flavor "Mint/Menthol" is nothing at all like a menthol cigarette.

I found myself craving "something" all day today. Nothing I snacked on or drank would do the trick, but it felt like that kind of something that I was craving. I'm feeling bad for my animals too ... fewer trips outside to have an analog means they don't get as much attention. I'll have to start making it a point to go check on them. Just sucks trying to find the motivation to go out in the rain when I have other options now.

I find myself puffing on my e-cig a lot more often than I used to smoke analogs. I think I take fewer drags overall, but now they are spaced out more. That may be what I've been craving ... no nicotine high-low-high roller coaster. I bought some glycerin today to try my hand at making some 0mg juice to puff on. Figure I'll puff away on that till I feel a craving, then load up some nicotine to make the craving go away. Maybe load my 4072 with the 0mg and my 901 for the "good stuff".

Hey godling.

Your situations sound a bit like mine in the beginning. Lots of trial and error, and failures. I still even now find myself going "G Damnit, why wont this shit just WORK already!". But the key is to keep trying different models, different methods of vaping, different types of juice and strengths, until you find what works for you.

There are so many different people with different nicotine needs, different vaping times, different preferences in the type of vape they want - you cant just read what one guy did, follow it, and have it work. Ive tried things people said online to the letter and was like WTF, that sucked.

Its a never ending process. You may spend a bit more in the first months doing this research, but once you find your perfect scenerio, costs go down, and will balance out with what you spent monthly on analogs.

Anyway, good luck, and welcome to the boards!

Day 8, life has been busy. It's strange ... I would normally have chain-smoked these last few days but vaping took care of my urges just fine. I find myself still wanting "something" ... but can't figure out what. Milk? Fruit? Candy? Chips? Everything I try isn't quite it. I even smoked an analog to see if that was it ... but still have this strange craving.

I think what I'm craving is more flavors of e-juice. Got some flavoring ordered from LorAnn's and will see if that does the trick. I'm really looking forward to trying Pistachio flavored vapor.

I think it really helps having 2 e-cigs loaded and ready to go. I can puff away on my 0mg stuff all I want without fear of getting sick ... and can get a good nic hit from my 901 whenever I feel the need.

Godling, you sound just like me when I started. In fact I started a journal in Word about all that I was experiencing. Now I seem to be on a mission to try every e-cig product and juice out there. I am mixing flavors like crazy and wondering to myself when this will start saving me money. So far I seem to be going over board on everything.

But..... that is my personality, all the way or not at all. I love all the choices that come with vaping!

Day 13, and I'm sicker than a dog. My sinuses are plugged up bad, runny nose, hoarse raspy cough ... is this a head cold, or does it have something to do with vaping too much? When I do vape, I get a slight burning sensation in my throat, and as I exhale, it almost feels like the vapor gets stuck in my nose.

lol - for all of you looking for that killer throat hit ... just get a head cold Anyways ... would love to hear about your experiences with vaping while sick.

Try mixing down your PG juice with VG (must say VEGETABLE Glycerin) got mine at Hobby Lobby along with the Lorann flavoring (must be water soluble). Some people are a little sensitive to PG (throat irritation and such). To me the VG softens up the hit a little. Hope its not the Ho ne No ne (H1N1).

Rocketman, I picked up a bottle of VG ... but all my juice is 24mg. I've tried the 18mg cartridges and had to puff like a lunatic to feel like I got a fix. If I dilute my current stock down to 22-20mg, do you think it will it be enough VG to make any difference?

The 18mg in the cartridges may not be as fresh as your juice. 36mg cut to 18mg is very to me smokable. I use this if just sitting around on the net. I need 24 or more in the morning or just to calm the jitters If you cut with VG you also cut your flavor. Might have to add a little extra flavor. You could try 15ml of the 24mg with half a bottle of Lorann flavoring, about 2ml plus 13ml of VG to give you a medium 12mg/ml of the flavor you like instead of mixing zero Nic. BTW, 2ml of flavoring and 13ml of VG is zero Nic VG, right?

Day 16, I'm finally getting over being sick. Mixing my juice with VG didnt' seem to make any difference with my sinuses ... even mixing it 50/50 (thank you anyways Rocketman).

I did notice something odd though ... using the exact same juice mixture in my 801 and my 901, my 901 puts out way more vapor but my 801 puts out way less. Using unmixed juice it's the opposite.

Daughter arrived an hour ago from Texas with a gift in hand. An NJoy NCIG starter kit she picked up for me in a Pilot truck stop. I unpacked it read the instructions put a battery in the charger. Green light on charger, put the unit together and presto, light on, sizzle, vapor on the first puff of zero cartridge.

Now an hour and only 6 drags later, no joy, light but no sizzle, no vape.

What did I do wrong? Did I kill the atomizer?

How do I tell?

TIA, HM

Little over 2 hours later got over the newbie jitters and tried again.

Eureka! Discover:
Draaag + light + warm atty + no vapor = dry

Try regular menthol cart, discover:
Draaag + light + warm atty + biiig vapor = WHAM! COUGH! COUGH! COOUUGGH! Hack, hark, big hocker, Pheewww. I didn't break it after all!

Give me another drag. I may get the hang of this yet.

I know Daughter and house guests appreciate no tobacco stink. Guess I do too. But I'm gonna have to find something smoother than regular-nic menthol or zero-nic regular tobacco or this ain't gonna work.

I can inhale an Optimo icy mint little cigar but I can't quite hack this thing yet.

so is it the "burn" that gets you? what "base" do you have the non PG (vegetable glyceren) or PG( propoleyne glycol ). the VG(vegetable Glyceren) has little burn or throat hit comparitivly. Johnsoncreek smoke juice has some VG based at various levels of nicotine. the mints are user define. all the ones ive tried they all seem a lil different. dont give up.. should be some others Ecig folks in TN so you can try the various juices. or just order Johnson Creeks Welcome kit in the NON PG. Im not sure how the various nic levels relate to analogs..
I do know that i REALLY dont wanna give these up.. nbot yet im slowly working down in nic level and enjoying the flavors..( another world mixing your own) just ask here.. alot of good ppl... good advice and help you can also try other forums for ideas, flavors and neighbors :-)
