| I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. I was tired of watching all the mod reviews and saying to myself "I want that!" After asking around, the choice for my first mod was clear. THE SILVER BULLET. Everyone has told me that if you want to get into mods this is a must have. I had some money in my savings as well as some discount cards from AltSmoke so I thought why not. I also figured I had to get some CR123s so I could vape at 6 volts so I ordered some CR123s and a charger from VaporKings as well since I had discount cards from them too.
Now I play the waiting game... |

| Should be a nice PV. Got the BB but 510 threads do not accept some things, and no way to change the connector. Great PV and my favorite for over a year. Love the horn switch on this device, and the box mod. |

| Can't go wrong with a SB, man! Big heavy tank of a mod, and you can't break one on accident, you'd have to try to tear it up. I've bought 4 of 'em, 1 for me and 3 for other people. Mine is on loan to a friend (it's 3rd full time user), and it's about 18 months old. It looks like it has been dragged around by a chain, all scuffed and scarred from 6' drops onto cement, innumerable shirt pocket dives, full-on submersions in bubble-baths, the whole 9 yards. ZERO mechanical problems or failures. I'm a fan.
Since you plan to use it @ 6V, be aware that you will likely murder some attys at first. Everyone has their own thing that works for them, so here's what works for me (YMMV):
I keep regular Joye 510 attys from Cignot alive for 2 to 4 weeks by "tailpiping" and dripping. You prolly know what dripping is already, tailpiping is when you drip without a drip-tip or cartridge. Your lips go directly on the metal of the atty (hence the name). The reason I do this is that I noticed almost every time one of my attys would die, I was distracted, doing something else (Internet for example). I was killing them by letting them go dry and overheating them. Your lips will feel the heat and FORCE you to stop before that happens. They will train you. If it's uncomfortably hot on your lips, you're doing it wrong. If it tastes like burning garbage, you're doing it wrong. No need to "preheat", 6V will get it cooking in a hurry. Start by hitting it about the same length of time as you would a cigarette, and adjust from there. I don't mean to sound negative, I think you'll love that SB, and 6V. Good luck, and if my tips don't work for you, the next guy's will, or the ones after that. |

| So the 2 CR123 batteries I ordered are not protected, but they are still just to safe to use apparently. Here's what the description says... Quote: |
These are NOT lithium-ion batteries. They are the new LiFePo4 (lithium iron phosphate) and although aren't 100% safe, they are much safer to use than lithium-ion batteries because they don't fail "violently".
| Have any of you used lithium iron phosphate batteries? How are they compared to the protected lithium-ion batteries? Are they really still just as safe even though they are not protected? |

| Yep, that's about all I use if I'm not "experimenting". Have had the best luck with the Tenergy brand, silver with yellow banding. Most have lasted me 2 to 3 months of daily use before they start losing their staying power. A pair lasts me about 4 hours in my Omega w/a regular 510 atty. They would probably last 6 hours, but I don't see any reason to run them all the way down. With fresh batts you can just pick up and go on most errands, without worrying about carrying extras.
I've been using them for over a year, and so far I've only had one get alarmingly hot in the charger. They all get warm, but this one would be uncomfortably hot if you had to hold on to it. It cooled right off after I took it off the charger, but I consider it trashed after something like that. |
