Hello all,

I'm on the verge of making my first e-cigarette purchase. I thought this would be a pretty easy buy, but as it turns out I'm very overwhelmed with all of the options there are. I've read up on which is the best e-cig and I always get the answer that e-cigs are all about what you the user personally wants out of it.

What I want out of my e-cig is portability, with a consistent hit. The hit doesn't have to be huge, as I'm a light smoker. I just want an e-cig with a long battery life, with a pcc, that's consistent when I hit it.

I've been looking at the Volcano, but keep hearing awful things. I've been thinking about buying one, then filling it with my own carts and juice. Would this suit what I'm looking for? Does anyone else look for the same capabilities in their e-cigs and already have a quality set up?

And anyway, thank you to whoever set up this forum, seems to be pretty unbiased as well as active. It's a great resource for those who are looking to live a healthier life.

Thank you,

Inferno

Inferno, Hot name( couldn't resist) Welcome aboard.
A lot of people will steer you away from the Volcano due to the short battery like and small cartridges that are hard to refill. There isn't a lot of interchangability with cartridge and batteries for these small ecigs, because there are no adaptors for the batts.
If you go with the 510,901,808d-1, 4081, even 401s there are options to try other systems by using adapters.
I was a light cig smoker and used around a pk and a half a day I've got all of the above types and compatible mods except 401s. all are better for batts and cartridge size than Volcano/blue/eluma types. 510 and 901/808d-1s will serve you well. If you get nuts like a lotof us around here big batt mods will be there for you to move up. Good luck, bikes

Is that "light smoker" as in smoking Light cigs, or light smoker as in less than a pack a day?
The 510 and the 901 are "full flavored" ecigs with a big hit, decent flavor and OK battery. They deliver a stronger hit with a lot of vapor. The 901 isn't quite as heavy a hitter as the 510, and is a bit lighter in taste.

My first cig was a "mini", a DSE-084. TOo light for me, but you sure got a good taste from it! Battery life was so so, vapor was OK, but the taste was the big thing. Being a pack a day Camel smoker, I wanted more. But after 11 months I can still remember what the 084 tasted like.

There are a lot of sellers that sell them for <$30; LeCig used to have them but I didn't see them on his site anymore. You can find them for ~$20.

Remember, everyone has their own tastes.

I smoke 5-8 light cigs a day. I'll look into the DSE-084 as well, thank you Hachiroku.

Hey Infernonrx! Welcome! If it was me I would spend the few more dollars and go with the 510 as your first ecig. I think you will be happier with the better throat kit and the vapor it provides

510 with cartomizers or attys would be a good starter kit, so would a Kr808d-1. i thought like you did, i had to buy the deluxe kit with this and that, a pcc, a passthrough etc. after having my kit for two months i honestly can say i've only used my pcc to charge one of my batterys once.(only because i wanted try it, i didnt need to use it). if your a light smoker, you'll never use the pcc....period. if you go on a trip just take your wall/usb charger. i found that if i just take two cigs with me, each with a topped off carto to the bar, i'm good all night. just buy a lil' velvet drawstring for your two cigs for 1.99 from Smokeless Cigarettes | Electronic Cigarettes | E-Cig

oh....and welcome to the forum lol

let me back the horse up a bit. your looking at the PCC's that look like packs of cigarettes right? i thought they looked cool at first too. but i'm the type of guy where i dont like alot stuff in my pockets like a bulky cell phone, alot of keys etc. but to each his own. i found that all i need are these. one for the house, car, and one for the computer/office. then again i'm the guy with a 808 in his ear and one with a "condom" on in my pocket.

buy a kit with these and you'll never have a dead battery and it'll be easier and cheaper than buying/useing a pcc.

Agreed, but the USB passthroughs are a nice additions too! For me being a tech guy I always have my laptop on me and I can just plug right in and charge my ecig wherever I go

Yeah. You have a passthru with an in-line battery, right? I know Dell laptops MoBos are ~$375 if you blow the USB!

Welcome to the forum Inferno.
At 5 cigarettes a day, really give some more thought to quitting altogether. The best alternative. But, if you're a weak willed, whishy-washy, whimp, (like most of us here) then try just about any of the models out there. Those that smoke 1, 2 or more packs of strong cigarettes, or cigars like I used to find the inconvenience of constantly recharging multiple batteries a real pain in the XXX. I had a 5 port 510 charger at work, and one at home. And I carried a PCC in the car.
This really shouldn't be a problem for you though. Start out with a 2 e-cig kit and go from there. I suggest picking a model that you can find offered at several sellers.

Pass Throughs? I had one short out and another open circuit. Crappiest lead wires and strain relief I've even seen. Well, other than the $2 earphone cords. USB chargers? I use em.

Again, welcome, and keep in touch here. Try to quit first though.

Rocky

Thanks for all of the advice and and welcomes guys. I decided to go with a volcano to start a couple days ago, before i got to read what you've all said about pccs. But, eh, I guess it'll still come in handy in some situations.

And Rocketman, that is sound advice, but I've come to realize my addiction isn't as much of a biological one as most have, but more of a behavioral one. I always want one when I'm walking to/from class, after a test, driving a car, or when I'm drinking. Plus, I just enjoy the communal aspect of a smoke once in a while. So, I'm going to try out the volcano with light nicotine to satisfy my cravings, and eventually work down to no nicotine at all. Hopefully it will help.

And I will keep in touch, I'll check back once I've fully experienced what it is like to vape during all of the situations in which i need to, so i have a complete opinion.

Thanks again guys

If I could go back, i would skip the wimpy volcano and/or BluCigs. If you want a analog cigarette like vaping experiance, go for the 510 models. The Volcano Magma is a great choice, but Madvapes.com has really great 510 model kits for $32 without a PCC and about $50 PCC kits and they have a stronger throat hit than the volcano. IMO, the best 510 model value out there, Check it out! I also just got an inferno. If you want great vapor production, a good throat hit and to go days without recharging, but dont mind the fairly large size, it's a unbelievable value (60 dollars for the starter kit). Hope this helps.

well Dave, sounds like you're off to a good start. Knock out cigarettes before you accumulate years of damage. Best to you.

Also, if your starting off or just want, in my opinion the best 510 kits, the 510 kits are from madvapes.com are definitely the best in terms of vapor production, value and all around awesome vaping experience. The regular kit without the PCC is about 35 bucks and the link is- 510 Kits. The PCC kit is about 50 bucks and is what i recommend- 510 PCC KIT. There throat hit is the best and most analog ciggarette like out there for 510s, but thats mostly because of their attys. I use their attys with my volcano magma and i get the same thorat hit.
