This looks about normal for a 901 kit direct from China.
I ordered a couple 29.99 black with blue LEDs a couple months back from another supplier and they are still working. The wife chips the paint job up, so I took one down to the Stainless Steel and buffed it up, looks pretty good. EMS shipping from China is generally $12 for a .5kg package. BUT- they come with a booklet that implies "healthier than cigarettes" and than could cost you your shipment. Check out parts prices instead. Ordering one for $29.99 and $12 shipping with the risk of seizure by Customs seems a little risky. Ordering 4 for $119.96 plus $12 tempting. Care to gamble?
I suggest getting kits from a U.S. supplier (if you are in the U.S.) and order parts from China. I buy juice from China but that is risky also.

True 901's are fairly durable under hard use. Esmoke4life.com only carries TRUE 901's and 801's. They just vape better and last longer.

There are many US suppliers of 901's.
I had a a good experience with Mike at CitySmokers.com
Not the cheapest, but a good service US distributor. Sells good juice too!!

Does anyone know why sometimes I have to put a huge lip lock on my 901 and suck till my cheeks cave in and other times it's such a nice easy draw? Over all I guess it's working Ok but it isn't consistant. I wish it was an easy draw all the time. Any ideas?

2. Dirty atomizer: 2-3 hrs in Coke soak, rinse with warm water, blow out and prime with 3-4 drops of e-liquid.
3. Atty not in contact with e-liquid soaked poly wad: Fluff up wad, drip and continue. Sometimes I find that the position of the atty bridge at 90 degree angle to the long ways of the 901 cart works best.
If all items above are negative, check the cart and see if any of the factory glue is gumming up the works. You may have to clean out and re-stuff your cart.

I have to say the 901 mini is the Gold Standard. It's atomizer is a deep contained well. Perfect for those of us who drip. Big smoke maker. I love mine. Pink and black with Pink LEDs. I've got some cool colored metallic ones with matching extra parts and bits. Come see and say hi! www.esmokelady.com - Welcome |

What do you drip with now? I think the 901 is the dripping standard. You don't have to worry about aim. Just plop a few drops in there and vape!

I use the M401. It has an exposed atomizer that allows me to drip directly on the bridge. I put on one drop at a time an watch as it soaks in, then add another drop. I've used 4 drops at once with no leakage or other ill effects. I've never noticed lingering flavors when changing flavors.
With the 901, I'd drop a couple drops down the barrel and hope the ended up in the right spot. Sometimes get a killer hit, sometimes get an eJuice hit, and sometimes get no hit at all. Never seemed to matter if I put the mouthpiece on or not. When I changed flavors, the previous flavor would still be there. I'd have to drip a couple more times before I was tasting just the new flavor. I always felt the need to clean the atty well after dripping too ... maybe just me, but it just felt messy. I always worried about flooding my battery.

The 401 atty has a (plastic/rubber) "O" ring (on my model at least) that seperates the cathode & anode contact on the battery. I think it also helps to keep the battery from flooding when dripping. No such thing on the 901. Careful dripping more that a couple of drops on your 901.
The 401 and the 901 are well known in the community as "Drippers(901) and dippers(401) favorites.
The 401 gives me flavor and the 901 gives me the hit. Love them both. All I want is a PCC for both.

I would have to say I am still partial to the 901 with the 510 in second place. I have run over a 901 with my car which bent both the battery and atomizer and to my amazement it still worked just fine. I was showing off the tread marks to my buddies. The 901 has been the most reliable for me and yields an impressive vaporizing experience. Also the 901 atomizer is compatible with many new manual switch models which have hit the market like the SD/ (screwdriver). It is a good comparison model to base your vaporizing experience on. smokehelios.com |

I love my 901. It was my 1st. Drawbacks were cart longevity and leakage. Overfilling leads to juicelips. I just got a 510 and I'm very happy with it's performance. A little more vapor, especially when you hold the battery button for a couple seconds before you draw, and the carts last longer.

Yes, one version of the e510 is sold with a PCC, or charge pack included, their are also e510's that are only sold with a main/home charger. If a PCC or charge pack is not specified by a supplier it doesn't include the rechargeable pack although they are also sold separately.

I think of the original mini e-cig, the dse-901 as the gold standard.
As reliable and hearty as they come.
I've been using the same 2 batteries and 2 atomizers, switching between when time to clean the atomizer, having one charged all the time.

The only 901 atty failures I've experienced were early on. Wife wiped one out, she probably overheated it, and one died on me, obviously not my fault. Batteries are a different story. Again, most were very early models, some were physically mishandled (again by you know who) and two had juice intrusion into flow switch (one super sensitive, one hard to get to turn on). Haven't had a failure in a couple of months now. Either product improvement, or user learning curve. I use the 901 atty on my Flashlight Mod and other than blowing out excess juice do nothing to it at all. A real workhorse and easy to find.
Stock up now on all necessities so when the economy finally breaks down you will won't run out of NIC juice, 901 atomizers, or standard NATO rounds.

I prefer the newer DSE901 over the 510 as well. I believe the atomizers last longer than the 510's.. atleast that has been my personal experience.
These new DSE901 atomizers are great.. I went back tried to use the old RN4075 atomizers from Totally-wicked, and these newer DSE901 models kill those RN4075.
I get a much better vapor hit from these newer DSE901's than those old RN4075's. I luv how the bridge inside the new DSE901 extends further down the cartrdge.
Also, when I was using those older RN4075 atomizers, I would often get that little dribble-type sound when some eliquid gets trapped underneath the burner piece within the atomizer.
I do not have that problem with these new DSE901's.

Cloud9, My early failures seem to be a thing of the past.
It's my feeling that the product quality of most models is improving. I bought a small handful of 901 atomizers a while back and haven't had to buy any more. I use a 901 atty on each of my Mods and haven't changed them since before my vacation in May. Two months on a $9 atomizer is just fantastic in my book. The current decision seems to be between "new and improved" 901s and the 510manual. I suggest potential vapeheads consider one of these to get started. I like the 510 manual over the automatic 901 but my comparison is based on older 901s and my 510s are brand spanking new and somewhat unproven as to durability. One thing for sure, you can't go wrong with a good price on a 901 kit.
Everybody pay attention here:
Don't NEVER let NO atomizer go DRY.

Hey Rocket,
It seems we have similiar tastes in ecigarette Models. I generally use the DSE901 atomizer with a screwdriver. That is my primary model. I do carry a Joy510 with me as a backup though.
The DSE901 and the Joye510 models are the only models I use as they are the only ones that I have continued to enjoy vaping with. In all honesty, these two models have kept me from smoking analog cigarettes for the past 6 months. The other models either did not produce enough vapor for my liking, or I got eliquid in my mouth when I vaped on them.
I agree with you regarding dry atomizers.. always keep the atomizers cleaned and moist and they will last a very long time. |

I like both 510 and 901 for different reasons. At home I usually have one in each hand so they don't get too hot. My 901 has been getting a little sluggish lately so I remembered I bought an extra atomizer when I got this thing. The one I've been using is sitting in some coca cola right now and I'm using the brand new one and ohhhh myyyyy!!! After reading what you guys post in here and using tips I've learned here this new atty is kicking butt. I'm using one of those cute little bottles of juice that came with my 510 and I'm sure it's VG and not PG and this stuff puts out the vapor too. Not as much on the throat as I'd like though. I feel kinda silly putting an atty in soda pop but people swear by it so I thought I'd give it a try.
