I did a spring mod for a little while till I got a hold of some... blue stuff. I guess a lot of people recommend the fluval water polishing pads-- haven't found that here in Hawaii, but I got some Pondmaster fine polyester media (polishing pads) which I just cut plugs out of (10mm x 10mm x 30mm) & replace whatever came in the original carts. After about 5-6 refills I replace the blue stuff w/ fresh plugs. IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Personally I like the DSE801 it just seems more convenient when I'm @ work, being as I don't sit behind a desk-- less refilling, batts last pretty long, etc... if they only made a ball point attachment it'd be perfect. Maybe I'm just lucky, gone through 2 attys since Oct 09. All my stuff comes from HC.

Rocket's right it does produce a lot of vapor-- especially when it wicks good.

I just "made" my first 801. I didn't order any carts, and the mouthpiece that came with it was a 'dummy', not long enough to reach the atty and no batting...soooo I took some Fluval foam, filled the chamber, loaded it with juice...HOLY CRAP! I hooked it up to the Atty Smasher first, and then to the 18650 mod. Wow! This thing kicks like a mule! I think we found a winner! (If the attys last...)

I also have a DSE801 (NJOY, NCIG) - I'm on my third atty in 2 weeks - this one still taste like old motor oil, but at least it doesn't burn my throat like what happened last night. The first atty was just one step from DOA. The NCIG/DSE801 cost about $100 here in SA.

The last atty was like inhaling fumes from burning plastic. Throat still sore.
Sorry, don't have an answer - just wanted to share.
Sorry to hear that. Since my last post, i have gone thru 6 batteries but no atty's. All were covered by NJot's warranty (1 YEAR) but it's still a hassle.
Two month's ago i got a Intellicig Evo (M401) and it's been a dream!! Great hits and battery life. I'm now hooked on the Evo. Best of wishes on your vaping journey

Many veteran penstyle owners seem to rave about the BE 112 and there is also the Joye 302. Both these should fit 801 threads.
