Have 5 DSE701 E-cigars of which 3 vape like crazy. One still need a little more cleaning (still some burnt taste) and one is dead (from cleaning). Consider the cigar if you want tons of vapor. It is a little risky in that a vaporizer failure leaves you with a really nice stainless steel tube. ALL of the cartridges I've tried start losing fibers which stick to the atomizer and create a horrible tasting smoke. I've tried folded and rolled tissue which works well and lasts for a few days before going to mush. Saw a post somewhere in this forum about using teabag material for the cigar cart but haven't tried it yet. But, by far the easiest method is to drip-period-done. A little alcohol and reverse huffing and the residue is cleaned up (note that I have 3 out of 5 cigars that still work . Price wise the cigar (without a ton of cartridges) is a comparable deal to the e-cig (about $40).
Expect to continuously have batteries on charge and a couple in your pocket (along with a little juice) at ALL times. ATTENTION U.S. Customs:: The order of mine you have is for personal use by 2 people and is not excessive.

Any other 701 smokers out there? I'd like to find out if all the cigar cartridges are made of the same cut fibers (fiberglass?). The carts for the 901 and the 84mm all have folded fillers and have never burnt. I can wash one out and use it for days on end. The cigar cartridges are a different story. I can make fillers but dripping is just easier to me. I just reverse huff about 3 or 4 10 second blows and put up for the night. Sometimes a little 91% IPA on the atomizer first.

hey..new to the forums here and new to vaping also.
i have what i believe is the 701, but i cant find a model number for this thing anywhere. i was told by the distributor i purchased from it was commonly referred to as the "bada bing."
i can say this, as long as the battery is fresh this thing smokes like a train. i decided to go with this model because from what i could tell the carts could hold quite a bit more juice than the e-cig models. little did i know at the time how much of a pain the carts could be, but ive found a few methods for getting the most out of my carts before i have to squeeze and re-drip them.
not a fan of dripping straight to the atomizer...i just dont wanna burn this sucker up and end up with a pretty woodgrain tube that is absolutely useless.
i do agree with "reverse blowing" it seems to keep my e-gar from getting clogged. ive been vaping it pretty heavy for the last 3-4 weeks now and its still kickin as hard as it was on day one.

EDIT: i stand corrected, the model i have is the RN-4062

Sometimes the juice leaks down into the cigar when dripping. This can clog the air flow valve and cause it not to turn on, or stay on. 91% IPA is 91% isopropyl alcohol. This evaporates faster than 70% IPA and is a stronger cleaner. You can find it in a drug store.
I've pretty much given up on my cigars, I have 2 working ones left. I use the batteries for my homemade unit made from a AAA flashlight with a 901 atomizer.
Got tired of buying new cigars all the time. Nothing vapes like an e-cigar, but if it dies, it's $30 or more to replace it. The 901 atomizer is alot cheaper.

Not long, have to keep adding juice. Just hit the filler wad with as much as you can. Do it while driving, walking, typing .
Alwasy have a little juice with me, always.

I just got one and I'm loving it. I didn't think I would, but since I got a sample from my guy China I figured I'd give it a try (do the true DSE701's have a threaded cartridge or is this a knock-off?)
Great vapor, seems to lose a little flavor but not as much as the 601's do, feels solid and easy to hold. I'm disappointed that it took me so long to discover. Now I just need to decide if I want to offer them for sale or just keep it my little secret.

All the cigars I've tried had screw in cartridges. The cigars are great. I'm keeping my dead ones for the really cool 304 stainless steel case. The cartridges cost more than the cigs, and the ones I had had a filler material that gave me problems. Started packing rolled poly material and that worked better (other threads cover that). Just wish they could be disassembled and the atomizer replaced. Cost drove me away after quite a few failures.

I agree,I love the dse 701.Excellent vapor, taste and good nictotine hit.If you deceide to carry them,i'm in the market for several for back ups.I started with an e-cig but haveing to constantly refill carts drove me crazy, and was still smoking 5-6 analog cigs a day.But since I got the e-cigar that has dropped to 1/2-1 analog per day.. |

i have 4062, which is basically the same thing just a different manufacturer.
im on my second tube since 3/26/09 and its still working great. i had thought it died so i left it alone for a few days standing on its end letting it drip dry and now its working great again. the only strange thing being that the LED doesnt get as bright as it once did.
i can take the same LED cap, same fresh battery, put them both on a different tube and the LED lights up just fine. but hell, who cares about the LED as long as the atomizer works.

If I knew a way to disable the LED reliably, I'd be all over these things. I know a few guys in the military that would love to be able to vape at their post without drawing fire.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to carry a few, it'll take a week or two to get them in stock |

The e-cigars I have do not have the LED in the cap. It is at the end of the Stainless Steel tube. A wire runs up from the electronics to the LED and the other end is soldered to the Brass(?) end. I dropped one and the plastic lens broke and I could see where the LED was. This also allowed a little more air flow. The lens cap is basically just a short circuit from the negative end of the battery to the case.
Since I haven't had great luck (longevity) with the e-cigar (DSE701 or maybe a clone) I hesitate in giving advise on cleaning. I would however lightly blow backwards every so often to keep the liquid out of the electronics. The ones I have forceably taken apart have shown a good bit of residue inside. For those that want to drip into a 701, try trimming off the flat portion of the black tip and opening up the hole a little. Gives the feel of a regular cigar, is easier to drip into, and draws like crazy. I cut mine off and then sanded/polished the end to smooth out the edge. The resulting tip on the cigar is only about 5mm long. Looks cool too. Black out the plastic lens if you don't want anyone to see the LED.

man rocket, i cant believe youve had such bad luck with the atomizers in your cigars.
the only one i have that actually died...is the one that i tried to clean. it was working fine prior to cleaning (running warm water through it, letting it dry for 2 days, then reverse blowing) but after cleaning i could never get it to fire right. it wants to work, but just doesnt seem to be able to.

My 2 cents on the bling...
I bought 6 of the RN's over two months ago figuring that I'd need them all eventually. If the four I have packed away perform like the two I have rotated for last two months, I can't complain.
Took a couple of days for both cigars to reach a satisfying production level in both vapor and throat hit. This ,for me, was only attained after I removed cartridges and fillers from tip and dripped only.
I have since "sawed" off the tip part of the mouthpiece so I can straight drip right into the atomizer without removing the mouthpiece/tip.
I never flush them..just drain upside down every few days when I switch from one to the other.

I'm almost tempted to drag out the e-cigars again. I really liked the performance when they performed. I stopped using the cartridges and always dripped (with the cut down tip). I have found nothing that produced as much vapor. Since I always carry juice, frequent dripping is not an issue. Battery life still is an issue. I go though 3, 4 or sometimes 5 batteries a day. Still not a big problem, I have a bunch of batteries, and chargers. I bounced a couple cigars off the sidewalk which might have contributed slightly to the failures. Cost is not quite as shocking now as it was at first. I've spent more than $xxx (wife reads this forum) but between the 2 of us we are saving a bundle over analogs.
My cigar batteries aren't going to waste though (attached photo also uploaded to the DIY thread).
901s, 801, 701s, whatever, better than analogs any day of the week.

My cigar died. Since I knew I couldn't hurt it more I run it under the hot faucet for several minutes in both ends. I'd fill one end about 1/2 way then cover it and shake the you know what out of it. Then I blew it out from both ends with canned air (like we use to blow our computers out with). It looked and felt dry so I just give it a try right after doing this. Well I'm still using it and that was about 2 weeks ago. Actually it's working good if not better then when it was new. I bought another one for back up and it was DOA. I sent it back to E-Cigerette-USA and I'm more than happy with the way I was treated. They went above and beyond what I expected. I also have the 901 and the 510 but I prefer my cigar over anything else I've tried. Anyway if your cigar dies don't be afraid to wash it out with hot hot water, blow it dry with canned air.......then hopefully you will be puffing away again.

Well SINNER maybe I spoke too soon but I did get a couple more weeks out of it after I did the cleaning thing. They were good weeks too and I thought I was a hero. Oh well........humbled again. It seems somewhere I saw the tube/atomizer could be bought for about $20. If I can find it again I'll let ya know. Since I got the charger and batteries all I'd need is the tube and be good to go. Well now I've got one in "e-cigar heaven" too. The way things are looking I think we'd all better get stocked up on things.
