| I am trying to create my own liquids. I can't quite get the flavor right. I realize it is a personal preference, but can I get some insight on peoples feelings towards what the components are? What is your pref regarding PG/VG mix. I have been using 50/30 20 for LorAnn.
Also should I be waiting a while after making. Somewhere i read it is good to let the mixture sit over night before vaping. Is this so?
Any help, thoughts, or your personal recommendations would be greatly appreciated at this point.
Thanks, |

| When I do mix my own it's usually around that ratio. Is it the flavor your having trouble with? I find most flavors need undertones of varying intensities. Vanilla is a good base for a lot of different flavors. I generally start with vanilla and tobacco then add other flavors into the mix depending on what I want the outcome to be.

| ya the flavor part of the process will be entirely up to your taste buds. but the mix sounds about right, you add any water to that? i have to add a small amount due to the fact that the VG i use to cut the mix is so damn thick. vanilla and tobacco is a great start, i recently made a small batch of peach and tobacco and it was great. it was kinda like vaping a peach optimo cigar. |

| peach optimo? yuk, got some of those one Christmas.
Had to make like I liked them
Cinnamon or anise add interesting flavors to a dull mix.

| I'm currently looking for the ultimate(for me )menthol.
I've got menthol crystals, what does anyone suggest as base to dissolve the crystals so I can have some mixing drops?
OneBucDad your proportions sound like a good starting point. I generally just "thin" my 24mg DeKang juices to 12mg with VG for my vaping strength, and economics. If something is off I've used cotton candy, icecream, cocoanut, chocolate and vanilla to "adjust" or experiment;although the vg adds some sweetness on its own. |

| i never bought Optimos to puff on, i used to be a cohiba Exquisitos fan. but i remember having friends when i was younger that would buy those flavored cigars and roll blunts, (way before flavored blunt wraps were marketed).

[...] | By the time I got some menthol crystals, I had pretty much burned out on menthol. This is what I would have tried, based on other menthol DIY-ers recommendations:
1. Crush your menthol crystals into fine powder (you can leave them in the little baggie they came in, and use a rolling pin).
2. Fill a 10 mL bottle almost full with the crystals.
3. Slowly add Everclear (Pure Grain Alcohol) until the bottle is full.
4. Cap bottle, and shake while running hot tap water over the bottle. You could also just let it sit in a pan of hot water, and shake it occasionally. The hot water is not necessary, it just speeds up the process. It will dissolve wthout heat, it will just take longer.
Again, this is something I've read, not something I have actually done.
I have also read that a similar method works with PG, with the exception that heating the mixture is necessary. That was some time ago, and I can't remember the details.

| I'm more concerned when mixing about the nic content when I mix my pg/vg ratio. I use PGA if needed to thin the mix anyway. If I'm using PG nic juice, I will add VG to cut it, and vise versa. I cut 36mg to 24, so I use about 60% nic juice. I find that too much vg and sutle flavors like ry4 and mixed flavors will be overpowerd by the sweet/smoothness of the vg so I stick with a pg base. If I am doing a fruit flavor, I like more VG than pg. but this is all my preference.
Here is my method.
I never try to make a flavor. I mix some crap together, write it down. then I vape it for a day, and let a few people try it out and ask their opinions. Then I create a name for it and make a few small amounts toying with flavor until I think I have a match.
I classify flavors like:
Fruit
Candy
Beverage
Tobacco
Menthol
And so far I've made a few hybrids like pomegranite menthol, or toke-a-cola (tab + soda), or ammareto sour.
edit: for disclaimer and flavor
I like starting with base 36mg juice. it is dangerous stuff. it makes me dizzy in well venalated areas after awhile. be good. I buy the 36mg pre-flavored for a solid base flavor. Then I add flavor to nicotine-less, flavor-less pg or vg with about 20% (of the total "cutting liquid" volume) of another flavor. Then I decide what it will be. I will experiment a little more with a third flavor to make it more distinct.

| your right about mixing in too much vg to a flavored pg juice without extra flavoring. the flavor is somtimes so diluted its almost like your vaping just the vg. so i've learned to only cut with around 30% vg on my 36mg usa mix juice, it turns out kinda like a marlboro light for me and that fine. |

It is very hard to replicate tobacco flavors using the exact same recipe. They always taste different to me. So I just call it something else. I think that is why their are so many different tobacco flavors on the market. I swear one place sent me the same juice for cigar and flue-cured with a different label. |

| i might try it, i have some coupons for a free pack of marlboro snus when you buy a pack of smokes. but i dont smoke anymore, so i gotta have a friend use it. thats pretty gross, i dont think i would dig a cigar juice. i used to enjoy a cohiba here and there back when i smoked, just thinking about vaping it makes me quezy. |

Thanks, | my two cents--> ive heard that vg produces more vapor than pg. just thought i'd put that out there. |

Adequate? Yes.
If you don't like commercial flavors, or just like to experiment, or
maybe save a few dollars, then DIY mixing is adequate
(good question, correct thread)

| Also, it's a lot like BBQ sauce recipes. My "perfect" and your "perfect" are 2 different things. |

| Just updated my FREE eJuice DIY Calculator. Added more functionality with multiple flavoring, saving and opening recipe files. A nice jester would be for users to share their recipe files by sending them to others so they can copy them into the eJuice Me Up folder on their hard drives. Note: For Windows PC's (All versions). http://ejuice.breaktru.com |

| Doesn't mixing all depend on atomization voltages, wattage output, PG vs VG ratios, nicotine percentages, type equipment utilized, tidal influences, declination, humidity and current dew point, water supply acidity, confluence rotational direction and on occasion your personnel tastes? |
