Like a charm! Rechargeable 14500 battery, refillable 2ml "top off" pump that re-wets the cart with a push, manual switch - I can vape all day no other equipment or supplies needed.

So you dont have it pointed at the atomizer for dripping? Its going up to the cart?

And, does that battery power give you a hotter vapor, or about the same?

The box is simply a 2x AA project box you can get at Radio Shack for $2. The 14500 battery is a rechargeable AA sized 3.7v 900mAh that you can get cheaply online. It uses a 901 atomizer and cart.

The feed from the pump goes directly into the cart wadding. It's more like topping off the cart from the bottom up than it is dripping, but with a little modification (removing the wadding and curving the tube downward) normal dripping should be possible. I don't mind dripping, but I like the safety backup of a cart.

The vapor is a little stronger than the OEM batteries, it actually makes me cough sometimes. The battery lasts approx. 5x longer than an OEM battery.

Here's a pic of the internals (minus the pump):

soo howd you tied the power to the atomizer? that one thing is my block... a connector with the screw pitch to match a 901 atomizer.. a tire vavle stem is close.. but not the right one...

It's a connector from Radio Shack - an N type coaxial connector. Size N Coaxial DC Power Jack w/Switch - RadioShack.com

The atomizer screws right onto it and it has an internal pin that connects to the center of the atomizer. You solder the ground connection to the collar it screws onto and the positive connection to the internal pin lead.

It is the PERFECT 901 connector and it only costs around $3. You could sacrifice an OEM battery for the connector, but this is easier.

I've posted instructions for the pump here (post #13):

The $1 juice pump mod! - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat

There are also all kinds of ideas for mods and parts in that section of the forum. It's where I got the idea for the box.

That looks like the PREFECT all day sucker for use at home (or work if brave). I'm not sure I'd take it through a security check point
The screwdriver looks pretty neat but doing it yourself like this is my kind of game. Battery life is the biggest hangup for going total e-cig. My wife and I are going on vacation in about a week. We'll be gone for 2 weeks. I have 4 complete 901's for her and 4 for me. We use about 6ml of juice a day so just to be safe I have 3 30ml bottles and a JC sample kit packed. We can charge 2 901 batteries at a time in the car and 4 in the motel each night. Still scared. I have a dozen e-cigar batteries and 6 chargers. The cigar has just been too much trouble. I made a couple of home-made 901's from 3 AAA LED flashlights. Used connector from dead 901 batteries and modified the battery holder for a single cell in series with the atomizer and 2 spares in the holder and the switch from click to momentary. Have been testing, I can make it all day (12 hours or so) on the 3 batteries and about 3ml of juice. Hopefully we will still be able to go into the museums and such in DC without homeland security locking us up. Once the Rolling Thunder bikers get there for Memorial Day we will probably fit in better. Bet that custom powered thing of yours would be a BIG HIT. I don't have time right now to post pictures of mine but I think any experimenter can get a good mental picture from the description. Anyway we'll be leaving Saturday, Oh No, 1000 miles from home on nothing but e-cigs !

is there a reason that you used the 14500? or would a 18650? seems the 18650 has a higher mah and chargers are more accesible.. just curious. Thanks

18650 won't fit in the battery box...it's around 10mm longer than the 14500

Are there any electrical specs that make THE 18650 undesireable? or bad for the atomizer? Looking around at the various sites, the 18650's typically have much longer life per charge. seeing the pictures of it it did look a lil larger/longer.. but if i am going to shade tree something... the options are open.. i appreciate your response. thank you

Not any more or any less than any other Li-Ion batt. Just make sure that whatever cell you choose that it is the protected version.

Hint for the experimenter:
Batteries:
14500, AA size, 14mmX50mm;
10430/10440, AAA size 10mmX43 or 44mm (e-cigar/DSE701)
18350 18mmX35mm;
18500 18mmX50mm;
18650 18mmX65mm;
See a pattern here?
Some are offered in 3.0 volt and 3.7 volt.
I think most atomizers vape on 3.6 to 3.7 volts.

Dimensions can vary a little. Like the protected 18650 can be 18.3mm in diameter and 67.5mm long.
