I'm back from vacation. 11 days, 1100 miles from home, and only e-cigs.
Did not see a single e-cig in Gatlinburg, or DC. If the attached pictures are viewable this is what kept me going. I took all working 901 batteries for the wife, but I used 2 of these homemade units. I used the AAA rechargeable batteries I had collected from my e-cigar days and would go though about 4 or 5 a day. Charging everything from cell phones, camera batteries, and e-cigs was a priority every night. My modified flashlight/e-cig attracted very little attention. We both carried juice (in the nice JC dropper bottles) and could refill on the run. A little labor and the cheapest AAA flashlights I could find, AAA Li-ion batteries and connectors from dead 901 batteries. I'll post more details if there is interest. The hardest part was taking the click on/off switch apart, and putting it back together as a momentary switch.
BTW: the wife and I used about 45ml of 24mg/ml juice over the 11 days.

10 poor photos showing the construction of a homemade e-cig battery pack.
LED AAA flashlight from an auto parts bin @ 2 for $5. The flashlight uses three 1.5 volt AAA batteries in series. Contacts must be rearranged to power the atomizer with one 3.6 volt Li-ion battery plus two spare slots. I start out with all 3 in the same direction and when I change a battery I turn it upside down. Switch disassembled to change click on, click off to momentary. A quarter is drilled out for the battery connector from a dead 901 battery. Needs to be a very tight fit. Don't solder this or the insulator will melt. solder one lead wire to center connector and attach to automotive electrical lug. You need a small foam block to take up space in the flashlight. The quarter is a press fit into the end of the flashlight I have (lucky break). Study the photos and use your imagination. These work like a champ and are cheaper than dirt. I had the Li-ion batteries from my e-cigars, and a few dead 901 batteries for the connectors. I will offer some assistance but don't attempt if you aren't somewhat of an experimenter.

I'll be posting a couple refinements/improvements to my Flashlight Mod in a few days, Ya'll come back now.
Rocket

EDIT: If you are reading this part of the thread keep reading.
The 3 battery (10440 batteries) MOD has been updated.
This mod now uses a 18650 battery (just barely fits).
Same momentary switch modification, same 25 cent washer to mount the atty. 510 or 901 models.

And even some other MODs.

That is so awesome. I'm thinking of making one just to give the cops something to ponder when they search my car.
I say it again, though, that is awesome. You ,sir, are a vaper and a scholar.

I have more flashlights, and some 18650 batteries. Just haven't had the time.
This is not to compete with the 'Super Customs' just because I can.

The nebulizer (medical type) is another I want to try.

And the latest Weird Science, by the rocket:
a carburetor from a 22cc weedeater. Have to do a little air flow calculating (part throttle air/fuel equivalent). Would probably have to use an alcohol mix for "cool vapor", no heater. Hand held, throttle/choke, priming bulb. Man, can't wait till I can take a little vacation to work on this one.

Ok, had a few minutes this morning and decided to 510 my flashlight mod.
(LOW VOLTAGE, HIGH CAPACITY)

If you look over the pictures in this thread you can see how it's done. The push on/push off switch mod to momentary on takes some little fingers

In summary, I took a tubing cutter and cut a dead 510 battery about 1/4 inch from the connector. This exposes the inner terminal. break/cut the two wires, not needed, in fact no soldering, no wiring.
THe inner connector needs to stick out just a little to safely contact the positive terminal of the battery. Drill a washer (I used a 2002 Louisiana state quarter (costs about 25 cents) for a press fit with the 510 connector and into the flashlight (used a vice and wood blocks). The 18650 battery fits between the spring at the bottom of the flashlight and the 510 inner terminal. With a total of 6 18650 batteries I just might be able to charge all six on the weekends and not worry about anything during the week. But I'll still carry a few 510s with me anyway. In this photo are one of my 510-18650 mods, a 510Copper, the cutoff 510 auto battery terminal, and a 18650 Panasonic battery from a laptop battery pack.
(Moved photo of connector/quarter to later post)
Rolled one layer of cork gasket inside the flashlight to keep the battery from rattling.
This thing just doesn't quit. I have no idea how long I can vape off one battery, much less 6.

And one more update. Converted one of the 901 flashlights to 510, and made 2 more from scratch today. After you do a couple of these it takes about an hour to make one.
Rock On

That's what I'm using for my 5V computer PS 'mod': a momentary switch, a flashing LED (two flashes is just about right), a battery coupler and the 'bakelite' material that came with the flashlight to hold the battery coupler. But I bought mine at the Dollar store for..er, a Dollar...

Yea, I've seen them there, after I got ripped for 2.50 each .
And in blue and red too.

The 18650 is skinny so I had to wrap one layer of cork gasket material inside.
I'm still vaping on this morning's battery. I wonder if the passthru would be a way to keep this "topped off".

I worry the most about battery power. I carry extra juice, don't have much trouble with atty's but dead batteries and I freak out.

I can now chill.

Hach,
just might be time for the "DUAL ATTY" MOD
Making a tip that would fit 2 attys side by side would be the a challenge. I have e-cigar carts and tips, close but not exactly right.

see what you come up with. Or maybe triple attys, or - - -

Started this battery at 2:30 AM, and it's still going.
We have another Shuttle in space today, and no stress with my 510-18650-Mod.

I be a happy camper today.

My mother of mods should arrive this week, it is finished and looks sharp. Produces lots of vapor as I have seen in real time. I had one done in Diamond Plate finish, and can't wait to get my hands on it. I think it will put the GreenCig on standby basis since I can slap a 10ml bottle in there in seconds and vape for days without a drop of juice wasted and a atomizer that has been proven to work for over 8 months without a single failure. I posted pics of it here somewhere for those curious.

Alright folks, a battery update. A 18650 will 'almost' make one day for me. The first day started at 2:30 AM and one 18560 made it until about 6 PM. I charged until the green light came on the charger. It might have taken a little more. I'll try again tomorrow and see how long I can make it on one battery before I have to change.

Two will definitely make a whole day (about 20 hours).
I just might have to stay at this NIC level for awhile before I drop it anymore.

Good deal Rocketman the JuiceBox uses 18650 as well and they are decent batteries and safer then CR2's any day of the week.

I just figured the 18650 would make it a whole day. Not quite.
But a lot longer than anything else I have tried.
Make sure and keep us updated on how well the JuiceBox performs.
