These things seem like they might make a cool mod component
Id have a choice of vap or calls. Did you ever look at these batteries by chance? |

| I saw that. Rounding up a KB and some typewriters. But I use a CRT monitor, so steampunking it will be an undertaking.
Uh, that is, if using a CRT isn't Steampunk in itself...

Uh, that is, if using a CRT isn't Steampunk in itself... | you should see if you could take the tube out and build it a lil' frame that will make it swivel etc. but i would look into it before chopping it up. it would look cool with some brass brakets on a wood base! |

| And I can just see the High Voltage cage arcing to all that brass!
I have a couple Dell 21" CRTs, one was suffering the common Too Bright syndrome they seem to have, and I scored another at UMASS a few weeks ago but it's not a true flat screen. While driving down a street there was a 22" NEC marked $15, then $5, the FREE. Works like a champ! I do photos and the color on a CRT is excellent; I'd have to spend $3-600 to match it on an LCD!

| I will have to buy several copies of that issue for sure, lol.
and no problem with being off-topic in this thread.
It's a collection of thoughts,
or not.
Newbies will get tired of the thread long before they get to this point.

| Here's a quote from the 'other forum'
"WE WILL APPEAR FOR THE PROSECUTION and WILL BE GLAD TO DO SO."
This is in reference to using unprotected Li-ion cells in a mod, either singly or stacked
when the modder/supplier has not explicitly warned against doing so,
and an adverse action (BLAM) has taken place.
I try to construct my mods so it is difficult, but not impossible, to use unprotected cells,
or to stack cells to run at higher voltage.
I will repeat my position for the record about using unprotected cells in a Trailer Park Flashlight Mod: I do not recommend using anything but a protected, normal discharge rate, 18650 Li-ion cell in a Trailer Park Mod.
enough said,
Rocketman

I guess one of the current functions of Government, or at least the Judicial System, is to protect people from themselves. You have said it many times, I have said it many times, but you still get people who think, "If a protected cell won't fit, I'll use unprotected cells". Like you said, "Blam", and then they want to sue because of their own stupidity.
Reminds me of a case up here in the Northeast about 20-25 years ago. A guy got killed in a Cessna or similar small 4 seater, and during the course of the investigation it was found he had not filled his tanks after a long trip the day before. So he ran out of fuel, lost control, crashed and died.
His wife and his (young adult) children successfully sued the aircraft manufacturer for something like $12M, even though it was because of his own stupidity that he lost his life.
Unbelievable.
