I just saw an ad for one of those charge mats. Anybody have any thoughts about an E-Cig charge mat. I'm not sure how they work, or if the puff, puff, charge then repeat cycle would hurt the battery life. It would be a great time saver i.e. if we could train ourselves to set it on the dang charging mat, we could have alot of time to build other mods, instead of searching the house for our E-Cigs. Maybe, maybe not, just another idea that might work better in your head than mine.

I knew that I never should have visited the customizing forums, now everything that i look at turns into a great idea for a mod.

Would be worth checking into, but i think some of those mats are a bit pricey. And yes i agree, it is driving me nuts not haveing my garage to tinker in.

Oh no! Another OCD vaper!

DON'T BUY THAT FIRST ITEM! You'll be hooked!

The hardest time I have is finding something that holds a big enough battery, and looks cool. I couldn't find anything suitable to hold an 18650 (2600maH, 3.25" by 18mm diameter. Fir a reference, an AA battery is 14mm...) so I did this

NOT Another flashlight mod!

The first one (like all first models...) was $77!!!!
But now I know what I need...

I have broken down and ordered a Battery mod,the Chuck. I keep running out of batteries when out on patrol and cant take it anymore. This will be easier than trying to make 4 batteries last an indefinet time with nothing to charge them.

I would first do a little reading up on the charge mat.
(the fine print)
Norelco had an electric razor years ago (and have reintroduced another) that used inductively coupled charging. Basically an air core transformer. New versions probably use high frequency AC (100Khz would be easier than the old style that used 60HZ) coupled from a coil in the mat to a coil/rectifier in the receiving end.
This technology is cool. Not exactly "green" or environmentally friendly as energy efficiency suffers with the inductive link. Digital switching chargers are a little more efficient.

The big hangup here with the "charge mat" is the other half of the charger has to be built into the phone or device you are charging, or "added on". The add on part isn't cheap either and would not fit into an e-cig.

Most mats also have a USB port to connect adapters to do "normal" charging of devices not compatible with the charge mat "technology". Sort of like using a USB charger and a mouse pad.

Oggy: you will love big battery technology.

I decided to go with the Chuck for 2 reasons. 1) Customizeable will be a nice patriotic theme. 2) with one MOD and 2 sets of batteries i can vape at 3.7 or 5v. Its a bit more than i really wanted to pay, but i will get to tinker and make my own when i get home : )
