I was looking at my atty/carto case today, and held it up to my buddy's pack of smokes to check size difference.

Out of habit I opened it and took a whiff- I LOVED the smell of Camel cigs (I've walked 2 miles for a Camel -too many times!)

Now that I have SMELL and TASTE BUDS again, I noticed something strange.
I've always smelled black licorice in their smokes, but I've never seen an e-liquid with Black Licorice (BL). Why?

Maybe I'm not looking in the right place, or maybe (like cinnamon) it is unsafe to vape.

I picked up "Dried Tobacco" flavor because it does not contain (ethyl) alcohol. I'd love to throw a drop of BL in it and see if I have my old flavor back!
BTW- Other tobacco flavors may come closer to Camels- BUT they use alcohol, and I want to avoid it!
If the BL contains alcohol, then I won't try it.

I'm sure Mr. Wizard will chime in later but in the meantime, Any Thoughts?
...Anyone?
...Bueller?
...Bueller?
...Bueller?

...Bueller?
(Love that movie!)

Black Licorice flavoring is available both from LorAnn's and The Flavor Apprentice (TPA) under the name "Horehound".
Unfortunately for you, both contain alcohol.

If you wanted to experiment, you could try making a PG infusion with another plant that contains similar flavors, such as fennel, anise, star anise, or tarragon.

LMAO! Yep, know that smell too and hate it. Can't even stand walking into a hospital much less going in to have them cut on me.

I just bought 5ml of black licorice from Mad vapes! I like it, but tastes better in my tank system, if just in my Boge cartos with no tank I struggle with the medicinal quality of the Vape. But the tank somehow coverts the flavor to something that really tastes like BL to me. I like it very much!

thanks- it contains alcohol, but has great reviews! I may get some just to try a drop in the tobacco mix.

Thank you everyone for the helpful tips and suggestions!

When I first tried e cigs in november I got juices from a few places not knowing what to expect. Madvapes black licorice was one I ordered, As poster above says- it is very good. In fact I used all of that one, ive thrown out alot from places that tasted like soap, perfume, alcohol & not what they said they were supposed to be-but that mad vapes black licorice was dead on and is very very good.

Wyld- How's the hunt for a Camel flavor going? I was a huge Camel fan myself until I went RYO the last 5 or 6 years, so my taste buds are flying blind from memory, and to no avail so far.
I've been trying to mix my own and haven't really bought premixed, but the one premix Camel type I did get was god awful. Tasted like I was sucking on a stick of butter. And I used to like butter. Really put me off of it! I'm not sure how I feel about posting who's mix it was since I hated it, but since tastebuds vary and someone might like it I'll spell the vendors name backwards - moc.sekomSmodeerFyM

So, to keep from throwing it away, I put some TFA Almond Amaretto from the Wiz into it and it really took out the butter, brought out some faint caramel, and flipped it closer to what my brain remembers about Camel.

I do remember licorice, but curious if you or other ex Camel smokers remember any Almond?

Not the almond, but with 2000-4000 additives, who knows what's really in Camels!

My "concoction" of all my juices seemed to get closest to "cigs" ... But way off of a "camel" taste!
Funny thing is- my Joye RY4 tastes almost the same as my concoction juice,
Except Joye's is WAY smoooooother! and less "lime/egg-nog"

My last order from the Wizard came TODAY- I'm looking at it right now...
I heard the 555 blend is closer to a Camel type, so I have some I need to mix this weekend.

He threw in a sample of Horehound which is like the anise, or black licorice!!!

This is gonna be Great!!!

Hey, they took my brother's car... He wrote down the mileage!

He's gonna KILL ME!

Last time I ordered form him I got all of the tobaccos, and I liked the 555 DK. I thought it and the Commercial Tobacco might be good starters for a mix. Don't know how or why I missed getting Licorice. I liked the RY4 too but I thought the other two were more 'straight' tobacco tasting. For my tastes all of the other 4 he has might be best used in little bits to 'blend'. Or maybe in strengths below about 2%?

Keep us posted on your results.
