After watching a few youtube videos I've decided to try my hand at building 100% unprimed lead free cotton wicked attys for my Vivi Novas.

I've never been a big fan of dripping into attys....either too sloppy with leaking laying them on a table or not enough capacity, for me the mini nova is 100% leak free and I get plenty enough taste and vapor. But I'm no fan of silicon wicks....I've seen the tiny micro like strands fall off after a few rinse and drys....and I'm inhaling that crap.

Located some on amazon:

I would think sterile gauze pretty much free of any impurities and optimal for capillary action..

Saw Estarra's youtube video rebuilding the Vivi Nova's with the very same cotton wick I linked to. Looks noob friendly enough for me to dabble with. I'll try to dig up that vid.

Believe it was this one:

I got that.
Waiting for cash to buy wire before I rebuild.
I also have Peaches and Creme white yarn from Walmart. It is also supposed to be good.

I'm waiting 2 more days for my payday. Wire + wick this time around for sure.

Let us know how it works, CMP.

Places like Walgreens and CVS don't seem to stock pure cotton gauze. All I saw were synthetic blends.

I just got some of this to try.

I did it for awhile works but it can burn pretty fast too if you don't keep it wet all the time
so I don't really do it anymore but it does work

If somebody sent me a small 2" piece of rolled up SS mesh already "torched" I'd write up a review. Longer is even betta.

No biggie. I'm not buying a torch this week. I'm buying wick N wire, CE3's, Vivi Novas, 4-5 glass drip tips.

Spent about $600 my first month of vaping I kid u not. This month not bad, maybe $100.

(have unused Greensmoke + V2 kits, one APV, 5 batteries, X2's, Twists, Spinners, LT 2.0, chargers, vendor ejuices, many DIY supplies)

Puttered around in the upstairs pantry and found these 100% cotton pads. Was thinking maybe useful in building an atty.

Nifty idea, I have the square ones that are semi seporated into segments. Let us know how it turns out.

Thing that buggs me about the "rebuildable" market is that of the three shops I'm looking at rebuild-attys: readily available, whire: semi available, whicking: good freeking luck. Yes yes I know Azon Shmeebay BLECK!

I've been using this http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/...d-wick-192815/ if you have a Hobby Lobby craft store nearby they sell candle making materials. This one is braided cotton. Use the thinner of the 2 they offer. $3 for 18ft or a 75 yard roll for something like $10...I bought the 18ft package. Boiled it and nothing came out either. If you go there be sure you grab the braided wick. The other one they carry is zinc core and you definitely don't want that!. I use 2" of 32ga kanthal for about 2.3ohm wick in my Vivi Novas. Never a dry hit and some heavy chain vaping. I have some mesh on the way but wish I didn't as this is working so well I can't believe the mesh will be as good...but maybe it will.

Where I get my wire. Can't beat the price. http://www.ebay.com/sch/kingorchid/m...&_trksid=p3686

Where I get mesh. Mesh last longer than the silica wick. http://www.okcvapes.com/stainless-st...h-325-400-500/

Still haven't ordered wick and wire but probably will today. So far The Vivi Nova V3 with 2.8 atty has been a disappointment, the mini Viva Nova with 2.8 atty hit much harder and wicked better. Big difference between the two.

I'm having a hard time believing that SS mesh instead of 100% cotton is better for wicking. Its not nearly as absorbent, its got to be the most durable though. Before the day is over I'll probably order. Unless I can use needle nose pliers to open the wicking holes (in center post) up a bit more with finger strength.

Update:

The guy I bought my red + green Vivi Novas actually sent me an incorrect package for the Red one. A 2.8 ohm atty was installed, a 2.8 ohm extra was in a condom and the 3rd condom was empty. So no 1.8 or 2.4!!!! Opened the green up to check that package and its correct (1.8, 2.4, 2.8)

Called vendor, he assures me he will send a 1.8 and a 2.4 for the red Vivi V3.

Meanwhile, seeing the 2.8 wasn't hittin well at all in the red Vivi I removed the atty, used needle nose pliers and pulled apart with slight pressure (across other sides, NOT the wick sides). It worked, the silica/plastic cap still fits over top of it and its hitting better.

---> STICK NEEDLE NOSES INSIDE the atty walls, across the 2 opposite sides from the wick sticking out, not where the wick sticks out. Pull slightly on the pliers handle, You will see the slits above the wicks WIDEN. Make sure the silica/plastic cap fits back on it with lil metal spacer thing inside facing the same position it was in. Check your spare attys to make sure plastic cap thing is facing the correct way.

Works HELLA better on the big Vision Vivi Nova V3's! (3.5ml ones)
