If you want to try out the KR808D and dont want to buy a whole new kit, you can mod your 901 batts by cutting a little slot through the connector. I used a Dremel with a cutting disc to notch the connector through the center post and down through the sides of the threaded collar. You only need to cut about 1/16" deep to get good air intake. The cut should stop before you get to the battery housing for aesthetic purposes.

Sorry about the phone pic

Yes the 901 lacks the air hole.

Laz can you do a close up of the screw heads for us? I have a battery that is 300mA/H I'm thinking of carrying and was curious if it will work with 901 users as well. The one I'm looking at has a vertical slit instead of holes, it works EXCELLENT with GC carts.

TIA

The crappy phone camera I have does not do close ups . But if you have standard 901 compatible batts, this little slot will work.

Don't cut straight down all the way to the housing or you will cut the center of the connector in half. Cut it down about 1/16" in the center, then cut the threaded sides at an angle until you hit the battery casing. Use you little Dremel wire wheel to clean off any burrs, and you are good to go.

The batterys still work with 901 attys btw...

What about getting filings inside the battery? It can be kept to a minimal but it looks impossible to keep 100% of it out. Evidentially it's not a real big deal if you guys are doing it but I was just curious if theres a trick to it or not.

The batteries I've done this with are sealed 901's. I wouldnt try it with an open connector type with out plugging it up with something first.

I've also been told that a carefully drilled 1/64" hole in the side of the connector just below the threads works also. I never tried it, I don't have any drill bits that size.
